00:00The call of several transport groups, including the Pistons, for the destruction of the public transport modernization program of the government is ongoing.
00:10This Tuesday, they visited the Supreme Court to request the issuance of a temporary restraining order against the so-called program.
00:19And first, we will talk this morning with Camody Floranda, the leader of the Pistons group.
00:25Camody, good morning. Welcome to Unang Balita.
00:29Good morning, sir. Good morning to everyone.
00:38Before we talk about your request to the Supreme Court, how are you?
00:44Most of your members did not consolidate.
00:48Did they continue to pass or were they forced to stop because of the threat that they will be arrested?
00:56As of now, some of them are able to travel.
01:00But other operators did not issue their jeeps.
01:05Because of the threat of LCFF and DOTR, their penalty is quite high.
01:12They are saying that this is considered a clue room.
01:15The penalty is P50,000 and the driver P10,000 suspended for three months.
01:23That's why our operators are afraid even though they really want to serve our citizens.
01:34Okay. This is your petition. You are requesting the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order.
01:40But you also have some government issuances that you want to get rid of.
01:46Can you detail this to us?
01:50Our petition was issued last Monday.
01:53This is a follow-up to the petition we issued last December and April 29,
02:01where we asked the CRO to approve the UDNC program.
02:07Because there are a lot of things that need to be studied and you will be able to discuss your program.
02:14Based on our hearings with the Congress and the Senate,
02:18the LCFF and DOTR should not implement this.
02:23That's why we went to the Supreme Court so they can post the CRO's report on the program.
02:33Okay. There was also a discussion between you and Senator Chiza Escudero.
02:46Is that right? Can you tell us what the discussion was about?
02:51Can you say that you are looking for allies in the Senate?
02:57Yes sir Ivan.
02:58During our last hearing in the Senate, we found out that our senators issued a Senate resolution.
03:08Twenty-two senators signed it.
03:11According to the previous petition, the program of the PUBNP should be suspended
03:16because there are a lot of questions from our senators and our commuters in the transportation sector.
03:24That's why last Monday, we were called by Senate President Escudero
03:30to discuss the details of our petition regarding this program.
03:37That's why we were called because the Senate President insisted that they will not revoke their Senate resolution
03:49that they will suspend the implementation of the PUBNP.
03:53The Senate President is saying that those who have joined the program,
04:00for example those who have formed a corporation or a cooperative,
04:04they will remain there.
04:06They will be suspended by the Senate.
04:09Those who have not joined the program of the PUBNP.
04:13Our senators also saw that, according to the previous petition,
04:19a lot of people are saying that only 80 percent have complied.
04:25But the question here is, are there any volunteers who joined the program or were forced to do so
04:31because of the high threat of the LCFRB of the DOTR.
04:36That's why we are pleased with the position of our senators,
04:43that this program will be suspended.
04:51But Mr. Modi, the President and the government are saying that you are a minority here.
04:5880 percent have joined the program and only 20 percent are PISO.
05:06There are other groups who are joining the program. What is your reaction to this?
05:09For us, it is clear that we are not just a small percentage.
05:15We have proven this when we insisted on moving.
05:19Last week, it was confirmed that almost the whole country has been paralyzed.
05:24That's why we talked about the suspension of the transportation.
05:28Bongbong Marcos should not judge whether it's a small or a large group.
05:36What we are talking about here is that a lot of people are questioning their program.
05:40What we are saying is, is 80 percent dead because a lot of people are saying that they have complied
05:47or a lot of people have been forced to comply because they want to serve our country and find a livelihood,
05:54the drivers and operators.
05:56For us, our position is clear based on the data of the LCFRB.
06:05They are saying that only 12,770 motors are running in our country.
06:12They are saying that only 160 or 170 traditional shipments are running in our country.
06:20That means, compared to the majority and the large number, the number of our traditional shipments is still large.
06:34Director Randa, thank you very much for giving us the time for the first news this morning. Take care.
06:40Thank you very much. Take care.
