00:00Don't ever let anyone tell you that you're useless.
00:07Don't ever let anyone tell you that you don't have a chance
00:11to earn the mercy of Allah, or you're too far away
00:15from the Almighty, because that statement affects
00:19and impacts people negatively, and it's not true at all.
00:23So, while I'm so excited to be here in your midst
00:27in the beautiful city of Brisbane, I decided to start
00:31with this beautiful piece of advice to myself,
00:35and then to yourselves.
00:37Every one of us deserves to grow in a positive way,
00:41be it connected to the worldly life,
00:44or your connection with the Almighty,
00:47that will help you in the hereafter as well.
00:50You deserve to grow, and there will be growth,
00:53and there shall be growth.
00:55I was a baby at one stage, and so were you.
00:57And when we were little, if anyone were to tell us,
01:00you're never going to grow, in what way?
01:03If anyone were to tell us, you're not going to be
01:05two years old, or three years, or four years old,
01:07do you know what?
01:08Time will defy that statement by the will of Allah
01:12subhanahu wa ta'ala, and we have today been given
01:16the age where we're seated here by the will of Allah.
01:18Yet, there was a time when we were helplessly
01:22with our parents or guardians.
01:24In the same way, the growth belongs to Allah.
01:27We are facing challenges upon challenges across the globe.
01:31To be a Muslim is not so easy.
01:34To be a woman who is a Muslim is not so easy.
01:36People say, speak about women.
01:39I say, leave them alone.
01:41May Allah Almighty grant us ease.
01:42They hear from the left, they hear from the right,
01:46and then they are somewhere in the middle.
01:48We have challenges even as men,
01:50where people begin to pick on us and our beliefs.
01:53So it becomes so difficult to live as an individual
01:56that I would like to live and like to be,
01:59but I need to keep going.
02:00I need to have the principles.
02:02I need to understand or try and understand
02:04part of the plan of the Almighty,
02:06because his entire plan may never be understood
02:08by you and I.
02:09There is a portion of it that would require you
02:12to surrender and believe.
02:14I believe in the mercy of Allah.
02:16I may be going through the most toughest of days today,
02:20and you might be going through the toughest of days today.
02:23You might have heard bad news early morning
02:25or in the recent weeks,
02:27but I tell you, it does not mean that's going to last,
02:30because it never lasts.
02:32Negativity does not last.
02:33It will not last.
02:35I may have gone through or be going through right now
02:38a time unlike any time in my life so far,
02:44but I have hope because I'm a believer.
02:46I am convinced.
02:47I am convinced that in the same way,
02:49the daybreak follows the darkest hour of the night,
02:52the darkest time of my life,
02:55shall be followed by the brightest light of that daybreak.
02:58Be convinced.
02:59How many of us have been through days
03:02where we really thought we were not going to make it?
03:05How many of us have been through times
03:08when we felt perhaps we won't find a job
03:10or we won't get something suitable
03:12or we won't be married,
03:14and today we're seated here with children?
03:16May Allah bless you and your children.
03:18They may be from amongst us,
03:19those who don't have those children.
03:22Trust me, when I say the Almighty chooses
03:25and tailor makes your gifts designed for you,
03:28knowing what is better for you holistically.
03:31So if you don't have one thing,
03:33you have to have 10 other things that others don't have.
03:37It's just a matter of you taking a moment to focus,
03:40to look at how you have been blessed,
03:43because every single one of us is blessed differently.
03:47I have what you may not have,
03:49but trust me, you have what I do not have.
03:52That's a fact.
03:53You know it or you don't.
03:55Unfortunately, in the material world,
03:57success is gauged by how much money you have.
04:01And fortunately for a believer,
04:03we do know and we are convinced that that's not everything.
04:08Because had wealth been directly connected
04:11to the pleasure of the Almighty,
04:13the wealthiest of the lot would have been none other
04:15than Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him.
04:18But he went through challenges.
04:19He lost in his life, his own children, one after the other.
04:23Was he not loved by Allah?
04:24He was loved more than you and I,
04:26more than anyone and everyone.
04:27We call him,
04:28afdalul khalqi wa akramul rusuli,
04:31the best of creation, the most noble of all prophets.
04:33That's what we call him.
04:34That's what we believe.
04:35That being the case, he went through challenges.
04:38He went through a hardship.
04:40People spoke negatively about him.
04:43Don't they speak negatively about us?
04:45Would that not then be a sign of the love of the Almighty
04:48when you face a challenge?
04:49I look at it from that particular angle,
04:52that when the Almighty says,
04:53I've created you to test you.
04:55When we were young, we used to wonder,
04:56what is it all about?
04:57But I promise you, as you grow older,
04:59you realize from the moment of birth,
05:01you're being tested and those tests become meaningful
05:05once you hit puberty.
05:06And thereafter, you're on your own
05:08because now the angels begin to write
05:10whatever you say or do or whatever you are worth.
05:15Your corrections are beautiful
05:17because we have something known as deleting the bad
05:21that I may have done in the past.
05:23So therefore, don't lose hope.
05:24You're never a write-off, never.
05:27No matter where you are, what you've done,
05:30where you've been in the past,
05:31the past is exactly that, it's the past.
05:34So Muhammad, peace be upon him,
05:36went through challenge upon challenge.
05:38They said things about him.
05:41They called him a sorcerer.
05:42They called him someone who's just after money and power.
05:45They said so many nasty things.
05:47Some of these nasty things, don't they say about us?
05:50Well, I tell you, that is a sign
05:52that the Almighty has chosen you to go through this test,
05:57similar to that of his most beloved.
05:59So don't worry.
06:01Take it in your stride, seek the help of the Almighty.
06:04I was saying that the Almighty created us to test us.
06:09When we were young,
06:09we probably didn't understand what that meant.
06:12But as you grow older, my beloved brothers, my sisters,
06:14you realize nothing happens
06:17according to our liking all the time.
06:21It happens according to the design of the Almighty.
06:24When Almighty Allah has chosen something for you,
06:27many times the path to success
06:31starts off with lots of negatives
06:33because when man is put into a comfort zone,
06:36he doesn't grow.
06:37I come from Zimbabwe.
06:39I see people here who are originally also from Zimbabwe,
06:41people I know.
06:43And I tell you, my brothers and sisters,
06:44life there is tough.
06:48But one thing it does, it makes you streetwise.
06:51It makes you able.
06:53It makes you able to make do with whatever you have.
06:56And we say to make a plan, just make a plan.
07:00If the electricity goes, for example,
07:03people continue speaking like nothing's happened, right?
07:05Because they're used to it.
07:07Why are you used to it?
07:08Because it kept on happening.
07:10Whereas if you were to go to a place
07:12where that doesn't happen,
07:13they'd probably be frightened of the dark.
07:15Do you see?
07:16Similarly, when there's no water in the tap,
07:19no one's upset.
07:20They make a plan.
07:22When the traffic lights are not working, they make a plan.
07:24When there are no jobs, they make a plan.
07:27This is just an example.
07:28But the reality is that hardship actually strengthens you
07:32in a way you did not imagine.
07:35Don't look at it as negative in totality.
07:39It's only as negative as you'd like it to be.
07:42That's what it is.
07:43Our sisters, for example,
07:45you will have people tell you what to do.
07:48On both sides, this extreme and the other.
07:51You know what the almighty wants of you.
07:53You know your level.
07:55What you need to remember is my connection with my maker
07:59is my own relationship with him.
08:01It's got nothing to do with anyone else.
08:04I'd better make the most of my days on earth
08:07and improve myself as the days pass on my own.
08:11I'd consider good reminders as being decent,
08:15as being helpful.
08:16But when someone hurls a statement of abuse at you,
08:20don't take it to heart.
08:21They don't know any better.
08:23They don't know your struggles.
08:24They don't know what you've been through.
08:26They haven't walked in your shoes.
08:28They don't understand the disasters in your life
08:31or the challenges or whatever you might have had to go through
08:35in order to become who you are today.
08:37They don't know all of that, but that's man.
08:39But Allah knows.
08:40Man doesn't know how you ended up where you are today.
08:44They will judge you.
08:45Man is harsh.
08:47So I have two things to say about that.
08:48Number one, at least the almighty knows
08:52and your relationship with him should make you smile.
08:54Oh my Lord, I'm struggling.
08:56I'm trying.
08:57I falter from time to time.
08:59I slip and slide from time to time.
09:02Forgive me, strengthen me.
09:03I know I've got to get to you.
09:05I know there's so much that I need to correct
09:08with your help, your love, your care for me.
09:11I will keep improving as the days pass
09:14and I trust you to love me and to guide me,
09:18to strengthen me in a way that when I meet you one day,
09:21you are pleased with me.
09:23Who made you?
09:24Allah made you.
09:25He knows you personally.
09:26He knows your struggles.
09:27He knows you're a human.
09:29He knows your weaknesses too.
09:31He knows how you fall and falter.
09:32He knows how you may sin.
09:34That should not make you feel for a moment
09:37that he's no longer your Lord.
09:39That should not make you feel for a moment
09:41that you are so distant from him that there is no hope.
09:44No, there is hope.
09:45There is always hope,
09:46but think about it and do something about it.
09:49The second thing,
09:51I want to address all of us, myself included,
09:54to go easy on others.
09:56When you see people struggling,
09:57don't pass those statements,
09:59meaning don't be on the other side
10:01of what we were saying today
10:02because a good statement that comes from your mouth,
10:06if it were to encourage someone
10:07struggling in their weaknesses,
10:09would not only help them,
10:11would help you and those around you whom you love.
10:14When you belittle others,
10:15the Almighty may create a situation
10:17where you are belittled at some stage.
10:20You mock and jeer, you swear someone,
10:22the opposite will be created.
10:24At some point, you might face that
10:26unless you've been forgiven
10:28or you've changed completely.
10:29So when you see someone struggle,
10:31please pray for them.
10:32That would depict the most genuine feeling towards them.
10:36If you see someone doing something
10:38that you believe should not be done
10:40in terms of sin as a believer,
10:42if the first thing on your mind is to expose them
10:45and to belittle them
10:47and to make sure that everyone knows about it,
10:49then you need a lot of help, my brother, my sister.
10:52Are you genuine enough to understand
10:55that we all have weaknesses?
10:56We all do.
10:57If it was our business to expose others,
11:00we would have been exposed a long time back.
11:02But if you immediately ask the Almighty,
11:05oh my Lord, here is someone really,
11:08perhaps not on the right path,
11:10help them and help me too.
11:12Now you're speaking.
11:13This is what we're taught as believers,
11:15to care for one another in a way
11:17that you acknowledge you're also one of the rest of us.
11:21That's what it is.
11:22I might be standing in front of you on this podium today,
11:25but I'm no better than you.
11:26I have my own struggles.
11:28If I'm standing here,
11:30the reminder is for me before it is for you.
11:33Because subhanAllah,
11:35if I don't have the mercy of Allah,
11:37I wouldn't ever be able to earn his love.
11:40Allah is still most forgiving, most merciful.
11:43So that's why I say the two things.
11:44Number one, remember the Almighty is by you.
11:47He's by your side.
11:48He's with you.
11:49Don't worry.
11:49Keep going.
11:50Improve yourself.
11:51If you're struggling with your five daily prayers,
11:53keep going.
11:54And the reason is as you improve,
11:57one day you will get there, but push yourself.
12:00When people utter a statement that is negative,
12:02don't let it make you slide back,
12:04because that's shaitan.
12:06If you have come so close to the Almighty,
12:08and like I said, you already know,
12:09and so do I,
12:10what is required of you as a believer.
12:13I'm not here to recite what's halal and haram
12:16and permissible and prohibited,
12:17and what's an obligation and what's not and so on.
12:20You know that.
12:21But I'm here to encourage you to say,
12:23my brothers, my sisters, don't give up.
12:25Let every day, like I said this afternoon
12:28in the Friday prayer,
12:29let every day that passes be better than the previous day.
12:32Then you're heading in the right direction.
12:34And in the process,
12:36do not let the statements of others
12:38ever discourage you from following what is right.
12:42And sometimes those statements
12:43are in the form of friends' comments
12:46or peer pressure or people around us.
12:48You know what you're supposed to be doing.
12:51Be a proud believer.
12:53Be a proud believer.
12:55When I say a proud believer,
12:56be happy to be who you are.
13:00If you have to dress in a certain way,
13:01alhamdulillah, I will do it,
13:03and I will make a difference.
13:05I remember back in the day,
13:06we had to grow a beard.
13:07And mashallah, I was looking forward to it,
13:09but at the same time,
13:10a little bit worried about what everyone's going to say
13:12because nobody had a beard besides one or two guys.
13:15At the college I went,
13:16and subhanallah, it was not so easy
13:18because you're a youngster.
13:19You want to have it,
13:20but you're fearing what people would say.
13:23And then I remember,
13:24because I lived with it,
13:26people started saying,
13:27wow, that's cool, man.
13:28That's cool.
13:30It suddenly became cool.
13:31When I grew a little bit older,
13:32a little bit too late,
13:33it became a trend, subhanallah.
13:35Right?
13:36Trendy.
13:37But back in the day,
13:38it was almost taboo to grow a beard.
13:40Look how the almighty changes things.
13:42Today you see people from all walks of lives
13:44with lovely beards, mashallah.
13:46They look at your beard and say,
13:47I like your beard, bro.
13:48That wouldn't have been the case some time back.
13:50That's gonna happen with the hijab as well, by the way.
13:53May Allah grant us ease.
13:54My beloved sisters, my brothers,
13:57don't give up what you believe firmly
13:58just because of what people may say,
14:00have said, or are saying.
14:02Not at all.
14:03We're stronger than that.
14:04We believe, we're firm.
14:05And the almighty will bless you
14:07in so many ways as a result.
14:09And not just you,
14:10but your children, those around you,
14:12your loved ones.
14:13And if he has not given you so many family members,
14:17he will have granted you something else.
14:19Look for it.
14:20Try and think, how did the almighty bless me?
14:22Wallahi, I wanna share with you
14:24something amazing today.
14:27It's a verse of the Quran
14:29where Allah almighty says,
14:30and I'm sure we've heard it before,
14:31but if we haven't, here goes.
14:33And if you are going to try
14:34to count the favors of Allah,
14:36or if you're going to count the favors of Allah,
14:38you will never be able to count them all.
14:40That's the meaning of the verse.
14:41What Allah has blessed you with,
14:43you will never be able to count all of those things.
14:46If you want to start right now,
14:48you're going to have to start
14:49with your faculties of hearing
14:50and perhaps your sight
14:52and whatever else it might be,
14:53your organs, your limbs, your bodies, everything.
14:56And then you broaden the circle.
14:58You'll never be able to count
15:00the favors of Allah upon you.
15:01But I want to tell you
15:02what is more amazing than that.
15:05The opposite.
15:06If Allah has tested you,
15:08you are able to count the number of tests in your life.
15:12Subhanallah.
15:12Isn't that amazing?
15:14Ask yourself, what challenges do I have?
15:17What negativity do I have?
15:19What problems or issues do I face?
15:22I swear you would be able
15:23to count them on your fingertips.
15:25You can say, I've got this problem,
15:26this problem, this health matter,
15:28this issue at home,
15:29this issue at work,
15:30this, this, this, nine things I'm done.
15:32But what about the billions of things
15:34that are a favor of Allah that you cannot count?
15:36Man is so weak that he becomes despondent
15:39due to nine things
15:40that he's challenged in or tested in.
15:42And he loses track of the millions
15:46or the countless things
15:47that Allah has blessed him with.
15:48That's man.
15:49You concentrate on the one negative.
15:51It shows your body is fine.
15:53Nothing wrong with it.
15:54But the mosquitoes bitten you in one place.
15:56That itself is the source of depression.
15:58Why?
15:59That bite is on my nose.
16:00The whole world sees it.
16:01And I need to scratch it every little while.
16:04It's so embarrassing.
16:05Relax, you're not the first person
16:06bitten on your nose, by the way.
16:08My brothers, my sisters, reality.
16:11One thing went wrong in my life.
16:12Two things went wrong.
16:13And I'm far from the Almighty.
16:14The Almighty says, no man,
16:16I actually would like you to get closer to me.
16:18That's why there are challenges
16:20that you will face.
16:21But those challenges are limited.
16:22And secondly, he tells us,
16:24I will never burden anyone
16:27with more than they could actually shoulder.
16:29I'll never place on your shoulders
16:31more than you can cope and manage.
16:33So you can.
16:34He wants to push you.
16:35He wants to he wants to ensure
16:37that you do your best.
16:39You do better than you did the last time.
16:40Take a look at the schools
16:41that we've all been to.
16:43And many of us probably at school right now.
16:45Don't they push you
16:46with a more difficult exam
16:47every time you pass one?
16:49You get a certificate
16:50and you go to a more difficult stage.
16:52You get a certificate,
16:53a more difficult stage.
16:54So the Almighty tells us
16:55when he loves us,
16:56he will test us in order for us
16:58to gain closeness to him even more.
17:01And when does this end?
17:03It doesn't end in this world.
17:05This world, the nature of it
17:07is that you will be tested
17:08right to the end.
17:09So much so the last portion of your life
17:12is looked at
17:14as the most difficult portion,
17:16especially when you're old
17:17and people say now you're old
17:18and you and you're thinking of death
17:19and death is supposed to be
17:21according to human standards,
17:22one of the most
17:23one of the saddest occasions
17:25ever for a person.
17:26But a believer knows
17:28that's probably the best day ever.
17:30I can't wait to see my Lord,
17:32who is merciful, kind,
17:34forgiving, compassionate, loving.
17:36Oh, I can't wait to see him, to meet him.
17:38I'm convinced in my heart
17:40that the day I meet the one who made me,
17:42he is not going to let me down.
17:44Well, he's not going.
17:45How could he let me down?
17:47Ah, shaitan will come to you
17:49and make you think for a moment.
17:50You know what?
17:51Look at the sins you did.
17:52Look at what you did.
17:53My brother, my sister.
17:54That's your past.
17:55P.A.S.T.
17:57That's what it is.
17:57It stays there.
17:58It will not come with you further.
18:00If you seek the forgiveness
18:01of the Almighty, it's wiped out.
18:03At-ta'ibu min ad-dhanbi kamal la dhanbala
18:05The one who sought forgiveness from a sin
18:07is equivalent to the one who didn't sin
18:09because Islam is based on forgiveness
18:13and the mercy of the Almighty.
18:15When the Quran starts
18:17or when you want to begin recitation,
18:19what do you say?
18:20You seek the protection in Allah
18:22from shaitan, the devil, the accursed.
18:24And then you say,
18:25Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
18:28in the name of Allah,
18:30the most merciful, the most gracious,
18:32the most beneficent,
18:33the most forgiving is included in that
18:36because it's part of
18:36the mercy of the Almighty.
18:38Doesn't that show you
18:39that the Almighty is most merciful?
18:41So we keep going.
18:42My brothers, my sisters,
18:43we're living in a world
18:44where materialism definitely
18:47has taken center stage.
18:48Without a doubt,
18:49everyone is dazzled at times
18:52by the lights, the bling bling, mashallah,
18:55the latest of everything.
18:56We all follow the latest of something,
18:59even if it's just mobile phones.
19:00But it's still the latest of something.
19:02And we all look forward to it.
19:04In the interim, the Almighty says
19:06it's not wrong to have from this worldly life
19:10what might be to your liking or comfort
19:14on condition that you don't lose
19:15track of the basics
19:17and where you're ultimately heading.
19:19If I've worked hard
19:21to earn a life so that I can have a house,
19:24I need to set aside a little bit
19:25so that my house in the hereafter
19:26is also set and organized.
19:29Mashallah. Right or wrong?
19:31People will get alone
19:32and they will start paying for a house
19:34and they know it's going to take 20 years.
19:35End of it.
19:36Perhaps I might not live there for too long,
19:38but my kids will have a house.
19:39Right.
19:40What about the eternal home?
19:42Did you do a little bit?
19:43It's not a monetary payment.
19:45It's a payment in your worship
19:46and your kindness,
19:48because your character and conduct
19:49would actually help you build
19:52your hereafter.
19:53This afternoon in Salatul Jumu'ah,
19:55I read Suratul Layl.
19:57And in Suratul Layl,
19:58Allah Almighty makes mention of the person
20:01who will be protected from hellfire,
20:03the one who will achieve ease in this world
20:05and success in the hereafter.
20:07Guess what he says?
20:09فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ
20:13وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَ فَسَنُ يَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
20:18The ease that he speaks about
20:20is given to people with certain qualities.
20:22One of them is they give,
20:24they spend on others.
20:26Why?
20:26Because he wants you to be selfless
20:29and not selfish.
20:30When you're selfless,
20:31you begin to consider
20:33the generations to come,
20:35you preserve,
20:36you build
20:38that which you might not benefit from,
20:40but others will.
20:41And then it's called a Sadaqa Jariyya,
20:44which means a charity that is
20:46going to last longer than your life.
20:48The benefit of what you did
20:50lasted longer than your breathing on earth.
20:53So what happened is you continue to clock a reward
20:56even after your date of death.
20:59It's a Sadaqa Jariyya.
21:00What was it?
21:01It was your concern for the future.
21:04That's what it was.
21:05I visited this afternoon
21:07a beautiful project,
21:08the Brisbane Islamic Center,
21:09if I'm not mistaken,
21:10a beautiful project.
21:11For who?
21:11For the future.
21:13And mashallah,
21:13I was pleasantly surprised to see
21:16such concern for the generations to come.
21:19And I'm thinking to myself,
21:21wow, the reward of this
21:23will continue to clock
21:25for those who made it happen
21:27way beyond their death.
21:29And the Prophet peace be upon him says
21:31Sadaqa Jariyya,
21:32which is that type of a charity
21:34that lasts longer,
21:35the benefit of it lasts longer
21:37than your life would continue to benefit you.
21:39One of the few things after your death.
21:41So the concern for the future.
21:43Today, we're here at this beautiful evening
21:47where human appeal and its work is highlighted.
21:50Surely we should consider
21:51what's going on across the globe,
21:53because the Prophet Muhammad,
21:54peace be upon him,
21:55tells us that through your struggles,
21:57what will help you
21:59is when you help others
22:00struggling in a similar way.
22:02Subhanallah.
22:03Are you struggling?
22:04Would you like to see your children succeed?
22:06Yes.
22:07Well, what concern do you have
22:09about the children of others?
22:11Good question.
22:12If it's only about you and your children,
22:14it's going to be tough.
22:15But if it's about our children,
22:17we're going to succeed.
22:19It's going to be made much easier
22:20for all of us.
22:21Concern for others
22:24would definitely prop you up
22:26in one way or another.
22:28So that's why the Prophet Muhammad,
22:30peace be upon him,
22:31always reminded us
22:33you want the help of Allah.
22:34You want the help of your maker,
22:36of the Almighty will help others.
22:38كان الله في عون العبد
22:40ما كان العبد في عون أخيه
22:43He says Allah Almighty
22:44will continue to help a servant,
22:47a slave, a person
22:49for as long as that person
22:51continues to help another.
22:53While you're busy helping someone,
22:55the Almighty is helping you.
22:57In your struggles,
22:58I mentioned a few of the struggles,
22:59be they religious
23:00or be they connected to this worldly life.
23:03These are real struggles.
23:04People may belittle you
23:06because you don't have
23:07perhaps materially
23:09something they have.
23:10They may belittle you.
23:10That's their weakness.
23:11Don't let it take your smile
23:13away from your face.
23:14Don't let it hinder
23:15your character and conduct.
23:17Don't let it make you
23:19insult someone or hurt them,
23:21abuse them.
23:22Not at all.
23:23You continue to be kind.
23:25You continue to do what you have to.
23:28People might say,
23:29when is it going to stop?
23:30It may not stop.
23:31It may continue
23:32until the day you meet the Almighty.
23:34It's fine.
23:35He will give you the strength to continue
23:37and he will give you
23:38pockets of joy and happiness
23:41that you would really appreciate.
23:43Many of us, for example,
23:45we struggle, we go to work,
23:46we earn, we pay, we pay bills,
23:48we pay fines at times.
23:50We pay fees for the children.
23:52We pay fees for ourselves
23:53and so many other things.
23:55And then what happens
23:56in all that struggle?
23:57We arrange and plan
23:59a little holiday, don't we?
24:01So Allah gives you the few weeks.
24:02Oh, I went out.
24:03We had fun.
24:04It was so lovely.
24:05Wait, come back home.
24:07You get back to reality.
24:09And what happens then?
24:10You go back to work.
24:11Everything starts again.
24:12But did you not have
24:13that pocket of goodness?
24:15Did you not enjoy a little bit
24:16of what Allah has created?
24:17Allah says, hang on to see what I've made
24:20beyond this world.
24:22It's mind boggling.
24:23My brothers and sisters,
24:24let's rise to the occasion.
24:26Never let anyone tell you
24:27that you're useless because you're not.
24:29You're not.
24:30You're amazing.
24:32Each one of us is unique.
24:34Allah loves you.
24:35He knows you personally.
24:36He knows your challenges.
24:38He knows your struggles.
24:39He knows your tears.
24:40He knows what is going on.
24:42He knows the positives, the negatives.
24:44He knows more than you know about yourself.
24:46And he did not make any one of us useless.
24:50And therefore, never tell others
24:53that they're useless,
24:54especially the children.
24:56Empower them with the most beautiful words,
24:59because that builds them
25:01when they're one year, two years old,
25:03three years at that age,
25:05when you keep reminding them
25:07of how beautiful they are,
25:09how amazing they are,
25:10how intelligent they are.
25:11When you hug them, you kiss them,
25:13you embrace them.
25:14That is taught by the Prophet Muhammad,
25:17peace be upon him,
25:18when he embraced his grandson,
25:19al-Aqra ibn Habis,
25:21he says, I have ten.
25:22I've never kissed even one of them.
25:24How could you?
25:25Meaning at that time,
25:26they thought being a man was
25:27you couldn't kiss your children.
25:29The Prophet, peace be upon him,
25:30looked at him and told him,
25:32ma la yarham, la yurham.
25:35Statement done.
25:36Whoever doesn't show mercy
25:38will not be shown mercy.
25:40Whoa, look at that.
25:41Which means kiss your children,
25:43embrace them, give them good words.
25:45When they do something wrong,
25:47it's normal.
25:48It's natural.
25:49It's fine.
25:50They're kids.
25:51They may yell, they may scream.
25:52No problem.
25:53You're an adult.
25:54Don't behave like a child.
25:56Behave like an adult.
25:57They are children.
25:58Let them behave like children.
25:59They may break things.
26:01They may say things.
26:02They may speak out of turn.
26:04They may whatever.
26:05They may make huge blunders
26:06and mistakes.
26:07They may falter in the path
26:09or on the path.
26:10It's OK.
26:11It's fine.
26:13We will guide them in a beautiful way.
26:15I'm not saying leave it
26:16and don't do anything about it,
26:17but we will do it
26:19in such a beautiful way
26:20that we empower them.
26:22And I end with an example.
26:24When the Prophet Muhammad,
26:24peace be upon him,
26:26was faced with a man
26:27who entered the masjid,
26:28Masjid al-Nabawi,
26:28the mosque of the Prophet.
26:29May Allah's peace and blessings
26:31be upon him
26:31and all his companions.
26:33And he was a Bedouin man
26:35not knowing any better,
26:36decided to urinate
26:37in the corner of the masjid
26:38because he felt like
26:39he needed to relieve himself
26:40and he didn't know any better
26:42about what he should do
26:43and where he should do it,
26:45because at that particular time
26:46there were no toilets
26:48the way we have today.
26:49So as he's urinating,
26:50the companions became so angry
26:52and upset, they began to shout him,
26:53yell at him, tell him to stop,
26:55scream at him and so on.
26:56And the Prophet Muhammad,
26:57peace be upon him,
26:58looked at them and told them,
27:00don't scold him in that manner.
27:02Leave him.
27:03Let him finish his business.
27:05Whatever he's doing,
27:06certain thing for a moment
27:08that were to happen today.
27:09Forget about a mosque
27:10here in this hall.
27:11What would happen?
27:12I can't even imagine
27:14because I don't think it would happen.
27:15But kids might do it.
27:17It's fine.
27:18When this happened,
27:19the Prophet Muhammad,
27:19peace be upon him,
27:20told his companions,
27:21go and get some water.
27:23So they got a bucket
27:24and they went to look for the water.
27:26It took them a little bit of time.
27:27And as they were away,
27:29he looked at this man
27:30and he told him in such
27:32an empowering way.
27:34He says, this is a masjid.
27:35It's the house of Allah.
27:37It is for the Quran.
27:38It is for prayer.
27:39It is for dhikr,
27:40remembrance of Allah.
27:41It is for worship.
27:42It's not for urinating.
27:44And this man immediately thought
27:47about the contrast
27:48between those who were about
27:50to choke him moments before.
27:52And this man,
27:52who is the Prophet himself,
27:54so lovingly telling me,
27:56hey, don't do this, man.
27:58It's not supposed to be.
27:59He says, oh, Allah.
28:01This is the statement in Arabic, right?
28:03This Bedouin man is saying,
28:06Allahumma arhamni,
28:08warham Muhammadan
28:10wala tarham ma'ana ahadan.
28:11Oh, Allah, have mercy on me.
28:14Have mercy on Muhammad,
28:15sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
28:17But don't have mercy on anyone else.
28:18Now, that's a new problem
28:19because you need guidance.
28:21Hang on.
28:22The mercy of Allah
28:22encompasses everyone.
28:24Look at how the messenger,
28:25peace be upon him,
28:26waited for them to go away.
28:27He didn't yell at this guy
28:29while everyone was still there.
28:30He waited for them to become busy
28:32looking for the water.
28:33Subhanallah.
28:34Now there is a new problem.
28:36What is it?
28:36I need to teach this man
28:37about the mercy of Allah.
28:38So the Prophet Muhammad,
28:40peace be upon him,
28:41looks at him and says,
28:42you are trying to make something narrow
28:45that is very broad
28:46and all encompassing.
28:47Statement complete.
28:49You cannot do that.
28:50The mercy of Allah
28:51encompasses everything.
28:52وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ
28:57Allah says,
28:58my mercy encompasses
29:00absolutely everything.
29:02So my brothers, my sisters,
29:04as I commenced,
29:05I want to tell you
29:06the mercy of Allah
29:07encompasses you
29:08and all your problems
29:09and your issues.
29:10So keep going and understand
29:12you are well within the mercy of Allah.
29:14You need to look for it.
29:15You need to search for it.
29:16You need to feel it.
29:17You need to understand it
29:18and you need to continue going.
29:19Don't let anything distract you
29:21from your path.
29:22And inshallah,
29:22we're all heading in a beautiful direction.
29:24Move at your pace
29:25for as long as you are moving.
29:27Move at your pace,
29:28not at the pace of somebody else.
29:30For as long as you're moving
29:31in the right direction,
29:32inshallah,
29:33you are well within the mercy of Allah.
29:35May Allah bless you,
29:36bless myself,
29:37bless all of us,
29:38grant us and our offspring
29:39and humanity at large
29:41every blessing.
