Man United Legend's Son Scores Sensational 35-yard WONDERGOAL as 17-Year-Old to Comeback Victory

  • last month
The son of Manchester United legend Darren Fletcher scored a sensational wondergoal to seal a comeback victory for the U-21s in the EFL Trophy.

Jack Fletcher, 17, netted twice as the Red Devils' academy side fought from behind to beat League One club Barnsley 3-2 last night.

The youngster signed for United alongside his twin brother Tyler last summer after leaving rivals Manchester City in a joint deal worth around £1.25million.

He was involved in multiple first-team training sessions last season and has been tipped to break into the first-team set-up in the future, just like his dad.

Glimpses of his talent were on display at Oakwell with Fletcher turning the match on its head completely with two goals in quick succession late on.

Vimal Yoganathan scored twice to put the hosts 2-0 up at the break before United's Ethan Ennis halved the deficit in the 81st minute to set up a grandstand finish.

Fletcher then became the hero after crashing a jaw-dropping half-volley from around 35 yards out over goalkeeper Ben Killip and into the back of the net.

He went on to net the winner after taking the ball down on the right-hand side of the box before gliding in and tucking a cool effort into the near post.

Fittingly, his father, now a first-team coach under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, was in the stands to watch his son's match-deciding brace.

In April, Fletcher Jnr signed his first professional contract and spent nine years progressing through the ranks in the City's academy set-up.

Both he and Tyler are highly regarded and figures at United believe they have the potential to become first-teamers, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Fletcher, 40, spent 20 years at United and made 342 senior appearances in total.

United will also face Doncaster and Huddersfield in their EFL Trophy group.
