Elsie Dot Stancombe's teacher reads classmates’ tributes

A “special day” is held to celebrate the life of a seven-year-old, Elsie Dot Stancombe, killed in the Southport knife attack. In a tribute, teacher Katie Sykes, from Farnborough Road School, said Elsie had the ability to light up any room she entered. Ms Sykes read out memories from her classmates: “Elsie was always teaching me when we played together, Elsie loved to make me laugh,” one classmate said. Report by Covellm. 00:00I'm now going to share some of the children's memories with you.
00:03Elsie was a wonderful cheerleader. She was always teaching me when we played
00:07together. Elsie chose for me to be the head
00:10cheerleader because I was so light and easy to lift. Elsie loved to make
00:14me laugh. I remember when we raced from the
00:18benches to the scoreboard and back. We were laughing so hard that we could
00:22barely run fast. The wind and laughter slows us down but
00:26we kept trying to catch up with each other.
00:29Me and Elsie loved solving mysteries together. We would look around at the
00:32room at things on the table and solve who it belonged to or why it
00:36was there and we would figure it out together.
00:40She made this game up for the two of us to play so that I was always happy.
00:45I like dancing and being silly with Elsie. I like lots of things
00:49but I love her. Elsie was an amazing friend
00:52and always made me laugh and cheered me up when I was sad.
00:56She was the best at playing freeze tag and I loved playing with her.
01:01After we'd learned about Marianne, we liked to dig in the playground for gems
01:04and fossils. We used to use the sticks and end up
01:07with dirty cardigans and hands. The world was a better place of Elsie in
01:12it. Elsie always had the prettiest socks and the shiniest shoes in the whole
01:17class. Elsie, we have so many special memories
01:21of our happy times with you. We will cherish these forever. It's hard
01:25to put into words just how much we will all miss you Elsie
01:28Dot. You will always hold such a special place in our hearts.
