00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Good to
00:06speak this morning to Jamie Langlands of Worthing, of Goring specifically. And you've got a fabulously
00:12intriguing sounding new psychological paranormal horror film coming out, which is premiering
00:17in Worthing. It's called The Cellar. Now tell me a bit about the inspiration behind The
00:23Cellar. It's 85 minutes long, filmed in Sussex. How did the whole thing begin in your mind?
00:28Because you are the writer. Yeah, it started as a short film. I mean, I filmed at a certain
00:33location before, because I've worked as an actor quite a bit as well. I filmed something
00:39in one of the locations, which I thought was amazing. And I just kind of wrote a short
00:45film around this location and took inspiration from the location. And then just went from
00:52there. And then the short film grew and grew. It grew. Yeah, it grew. I mean, the short
00:58film I wrote with this location in mind, it was quite an expensive location to get. So
01:07I didn't quite have enough money to film it. Are you able to say where this location is?
01:11Or do you remember? Oh, yeah, okay. It's Aragall Jailhouse. But then I went around and looked
01:18for other locations. And the more locations I saw, the more I kind of got inspiration
01:24from these locations. And you've also filmed in Brighton, haven't you? In Worthing and
01:29in Hastings. Now, obviously, without giving too much away, set the scene. What's the starting
01:33point for this film? So basically, it's about this young girl. Okay, she wakes up in this
01:41cell. She's locked in this cell. And she's got no recollection of how she actually got
01:47into this cell. And basically, she needs to kind of get out of this cell, find a way out,
01:52find a way out this whole big location, this underground cellar that she's kind of been
02:01trapped in, and try to work out how she actually got into this predicament. And the more the
02:09story goes on, the more she unravels. And you've got the premiere coming up in Worthing on,
02:19what's the date? On the 8th of September. Where? At the Cornwall cinema, 6pm. And what's
02:27hanging on that premiere then? What do you need to happen for the film to be a success after that?
02:33Well, specifically for the premiere, it'd just be nice to get a lot of people there,
02:39you know, and have a real good, you know, event. I've kind of made it into a bit of a networking
02:44event as well afterwards. So yeah, it'd just be nice to get everyone together, all kind of local
02:50filmmakers, actors, crew, and just have a bit of a network. Yeah, and watch this film and get some
02:58feedback on it. And it's going to give us the shivers then, is it?
03:03Hopefully. Hopefully, yeah.
03:06Well, Jamie, congratulations on the film. Good to speak to you. I hope it goes brilliantly.
03:11Thank you very much.
