00:00The Philippines won a medal in the 22nd Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Karate Championship in Pasig City.

00:10Bon Aquino has a report.

00:12From Japan.

00:16On the first day of the 22nd Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Karate Championships,

00:22Japan won the gold medal for the Cadet Kata and Junior Team Kata events.

00:27Japan and Iran won three medals in the Cadet Kumite events.

00:33Our Karateka, Ailek Ray Cervan, won the silver medal in the Cadet Kumite Female Under 54 Kilograms.

00:42While the bronze medal goes to our other kid, Sebastian Neil Manalak, in the Cadet Kata Male event.

00:49I was nervous at first, but I worked hard. Why would I give up?

00:54There are a lot of great people that I just fought and saw.

00:58They will help me improve in my further tournaments.

01:03According to the President of the Philippine Karate Federation,

01:06in hosting the 22nd Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Karate Championships here in the Philippines,

01:12Karate will be valued in the country.

01:15So that the Filipino young athletes, Karate athletes,

01:19would be able to see the kind of athletes that are participating.

01:24More or less, they will have an assessment on how they are right now.

01:29It's been a big progress and I see worldwide Philippine athletes competing in our league at different levels.

01:38This is the only way to progress and to be in the top.
