कोलकाता में ट्रेनी डॉक्टर के रेप और हत्या के मामले में गिरफ्तार आरोपी का पॉलीग्राफ टेस्ट किया जाना है। पॉलीग्राफ टेस्ट को लाई डिटेक्टर टेस्ट भी कहा जाता है। इस टेस्ट के दौरान सवाल किए जाने पर सामने वाला झूठ बोलता है तो वो पकड़ा जाता है। पूछताछ के दौरान कार्डियो-कफ या सेंसेटिव इलेक्ट्रोड जैसे उपकरण शख्स के शरीर से जोड़ दिए जाते हैं। झूठ बोलते हुए उसकी शारीरिक प्रतिक्रिया में आने वाले बदलाव मसलन, दिल की धड़कन की रफ्तार बदलना, सांस लेने में बदलाव आना और पसीना आने लगता है। इसके अलावा, ब्लड प्रेशर और ब्लड फ्लो भी मापा जाता है, इससे ये अंदाजा लग जाता है कि व्यक्ति झूठ बोल रहा है या सच। संबंधित शख्स के बयान की पुष्टि करने या उससे सच उगलवाने के लिए ये टेस्ट किया जाता है।
