Niger's capital Niamey cut off by flood waters

Heavy rain has caused severe flooding in the region around Niger's capital, Niamey, submerging roads and cutting the capital off from parts of the rest of the country for several days. Worried residents fear that hastily reinforced dykes will not hold. "We are really scared," says Mahamadou Abdourahamane Zongona, a resident of the Lamorde district in Niamey.
