00:01you have been in so many kind of iconic things.

00:04When you mentioned the movies and the things,

00:06Notes on a Scandal.

00:07That was my first movie.

00:08It was your first movie, right?

00:09Yeah, that was my first audition

00:11that when I told my parents I wanted to be an actor,

00:12they were like, okay,

00:13well, we found out about this open audition.

00:16Go see how many other girls want to be actresses.

00:18It's not bad for a first movie

00:19to be opposite Judi Dench and Kate Blanchett.

00:21Bill Nye, Richard Eyre.

00:23I was like, whoa.

00:25Yeah, Judi Dench taught me what a wild line was,

00:28because I remember they asked me to do a wild line,

00:30and I was like, what does that mean?

00:33You know, without any context,

00:34that sounds like you can really go rogue.

00:36How did that come about for you?

00:38So I went to this open audition.

00:39We went to London to a big warehouse somewhere in Hackney,

00:43and there was a long line of people waiting to go in

00:45and had no idea what was going to happen

00:47when we went inside,

00:48and then it was just like a picture,

00:49and then write down your name and your address.

00:51I got a phone call saying

00:54that Richard Eyre would like me to come and read,

00:55and could they bike a script over to where I was?

00:58And I was like, oh my God, I've got to bike a script?
