'Delighted for him': West Brom fans on 2-1 win at Stoke

Jonny Drury caught up with some delighted West Brom fans as they ran out 2-1 winners at Stoke. Karlan Grant headed Albion ahead - the first of three goals in the game in 13 minutes. Stoke levelled through Lewis Koumas, before Josh Maja swept home a Tom Fellows cross. Both sides had second half chances but it was Albion who held out for the victory.

01:09we'd lost position and lost control a little bit but then after that, we were back at it,

01:14second half we come out on the front foot and I just wish we could have got another

01:18one just to not get so nervous at the end but more than happy with 2 away games.

01:22That was going to be the next point, Carlin Grant's come back in, maybe injuries have

01:26helped him back into the side but what have you made of him so far because I'm sure a

01:29lot of Albion fans have probably written him off before this season.

01:39But obviously, since he's been at the club, 3 games there, he's made a massive impact.

01:45I think when he played QPR first game, his goals showed that he wants to play for this

01:51club and then when he played against Leeds, he's done well as well and obviously got his

01:55goal today, totally deserved it. And to be honest, he was one man in the match for the

01:59game, I think.

02:01I said he's solid in the game, that cross that Tom Corrine was lofted 12 months ago,

02:0718 months ago, Grant didn't want to go for that because there was a lot of bodies in

02:10there, he went for it and perfect goal. And he deserves it.

02:14He deserved it as well, the way he's struck him back and driven him back.

02:17And I think we've seen that in the players' celebration, they've pushed him towards the

02:21front to say, you know, you deserve this. So I'm happy for him.

02:26You know, Tom Fellows played on the left against Leeds, was a little bit ineffective but went

02:29back on the right today. You know, how good is it to see, you know, someone who's come

02:33through the academy who is, you know, Albion's best player in the world.

02:39100 per cent, 100 per cent, he's a massive threat on our right-hand side. Obviously,

02:43you saw that with the first goal, obviously he was a massive threat on our right-hand

02:47side. But obviously, he's more compared to the other boys because to the left-hander

02:51in my opinion, that goal, that assist, massive threat.

02:55He's on fire on that wing, I tweeted and you responded to me and I was like, let the wing

03:01fly at its best because some of those crosses were awesome, especially the one for the goal,

03:05he hung it up, hung it up.

03:07But the amount of goals we've already scored from crosses, the chances that would have

03:10gone begging last season because so many crosses, usually a couple of crosses and there'd be

03:14nobody on the end of them, so we've clearly worked on that and that's...

03:18I think we know now that we've got, Tom knows now that he's got two people in there, Grandin,

03:22definitely Josh, that can go for that in the head, where before Grandin probably didn't

03:26score. We now know, if he hangs them up, then he can. And the one for the pull-back for

03:30the second goal as well, it's a great pull-back and an awesome finish from Josh.

03:34And just finally, less than a week of the transfer window left, looks like Callum Stars

03:39is coming in from Barnsley, they want one more, probably a striker, would you be happy

03:43with the transfer business overall if that was all it was?

03:45I think overall, apart from the takeover to the window, I think both of us, I'd say we

03:54totally agree that this window's been amazing for us. I think we needed something that the

04:00fans really wanted, so we needed an open investment, obviously we've lost a big, big

04:04player, so I think we should create a cushioning town then, but obviously we had a bit of an

04:08impact, so...

04:11I can't complement how many players we've actually got under the, not restrictions we've

04:14got, but I think that the window has been really good for us. If we can get Callum Stars

04:19as well and one other, it would be brilliant.

04:21Well, based on the, you know, Pagan, you know, if he's not a specialist left back, he's taken

04:26to that role like a duck to water, and then Diakite came on and did a good job of just

04:32shoring things up, so, yeah, I think you can only praise Carlos and, you know, the recruitment

04:38guys and everything, they've found these players, and it's gone back to the old days, you know,

04:42we're picking these players up, we might not know much about them, but clearly, you know,

04:46the main thing is Carlos and his staff do, and they...

04:49They're trusting him, they're trusting him now, and we've got, you know, people from

04:53maybe League 1, League 2, but we're also getting a player of, like, new Ross Ratchett. Blimey,

04:57he shouldn't be here, he shouldn't be really, but he is, and that's, you know, that's good

05:01for Carlos, EMPs and all the guys that have done that.
