00:00The odds are in Tim Geiser's favor. He has seven, Jorge Prado has four.
00:07Jeffrey Herlings lines up 26 points behind the Spaniard.
00:1235 points behind Tim Geiser. Points on the line here in this ramp qualifying race.
00:1810th for the win. 9.8765432. One point for 10th place.
00:24Jeffrey Herlings one second off of Tim Geiser's time. Just a tenth behind Jeremy Siwa,
00:31the rebel KTM rider. Obviously coming here off the back of a double race win at his home
00:36Grand Prix in the Netherlands. He'll be hoping to reduce the gap further. Valentin Guio shipped
00:41a cycle Honda Motorblues SR. Arrives here at 9th place in the championship behind his teammate
00:47Kevin Bourgmo. But Jeremy Siwa in the red and white, the Swiss flag there on his right shoulder.
00:52Custom helmet, custom kit.
00:58What can the Kawasaki rider do? It's about 40 minutes from here, 30 minutes maybe.
01:02Maxime Renaud, great to see the MX2 former world champion back behind the gate today.
01:08Just did two Grand Prix early this year. He had a fifth in the ramp qualifying race in Argentina,
01:12third in Spain when it was in Tuzanadu. Andrea Bonacorsi, his teammate,
01:18has had a good run since he's moved into this MXGP category at round five. He's currently 12th
01:24place in the championship standings, 26th behind the absent Paul Jonas. Isaac Gifton, JK Racing
01:30Yamaha, still on cloud nine after his successes at his home Grand Prix a couple of rounds ago.
01:38Mattia Guadagnini, the Nostan Husqvarna rider, 13th in the championship chase, just four points
01:43behind Bonacorsi. Will those two be changing positions today or over the weekend? Alberto
01:50Ferrato goes to line in fifth place for standing construct Honda, building in confidence and
01:54gaining in speed every step of the way. He's 25th in the championship but he's only been in
02:00the championship chase for the last four rounds. This is his fifth Grand Prix of the season.
02:05A full grid of riders, 40 riders lining up today. Geoffrey Hurling's brave into that gate one
02:17position because if you get squeezed to the right hand side we saw what happened in the MX250.
02:21The Fly Racing 15 second board up then. Round 17,
02:25the MXGP ramp qualifying race here in Switzerland. The MXGP of Switzerland presented by IXS.
02:36The 15 second board turns to five seconds. Slight crest dropping downhill into that first turn.
02:44A great jump from Jorge Prado and Hurling does get pinched to the inside. Riders going down mid-pack
02:51look like it might have been one of the Honda SR boys. But it's Ruben Fernandez back from injury
02:58with a hole shot here and he leads away from Jeremy Siwa. Jorge Prado as they go down that
03:04straight in front of the fans they are going to erupt. Siwa will put the squeeze on Prado here if
03:09he can. Caught there in fourth place or he was because he's got Renault right there on the 959
03:15who ducks his head to avoid the roost. Ah Brent Van Donnick it was a Honda that went down and
03:21Van Donnick picking himself up. I knew it was one of the Hondas but I wasn't sure which one.
03:25But Fernandez leads away. Siwa second. Prado in third. Geisser in ninth behind Hurlings.
03:39Prado on the attack here at the end of the straight.
03:48Siwa trying to go around the outside but gets denied by Ruben Fernandez.
03:55Fueled by adrenaline I think at the moment. Ruben Fernandez first race back all those nerves
04:00all that anxiety the anticipation.
04:04Just give him one lap lead in the way. Siwa going to make it very difficult for him but
04:08imagine the noise if Siwa takes over the lead here. The atmosphere has been building all day
04:17every day since we got here and we are now racing here at Frauenfeld.
04:26Siwa cuts to the inside will he get the power down early? Iago Keats having problems as well
04:30those handlebars are very second hand and crooked as he rejoins the race from wherever
04:36he dropped himself. I think it was coming out of the right hander on the infield.
04:39First lap done then. Geisser is up to fifth. Hurlings going with him in sixth place
04:49and they're right behind the uh the action here there's Renault.
04:56Geisser coming in right behind him in yellow then Hurlings.
05:02Championship points at stake on the line don't forget Prado there he'll be picking up seven
05:08points you put the flag out sorry eight points if you put the flag out now. Six for Geisser,
05:14five for Hurlings. One rider who can't afford to lose points is Geoffrey Hurlings if he's
05:19to have a serious crack at this championship. Prado gets fantastic drive through those waves though.
05:28Giacomo Garibaldi the team owner team HRC said in our studio show today
05:33on MXGP TV Tim Geisser said to him yesterday you know basically i have to go out and win every race
05:41if i'm to be world champion this year. Jorge Prado funny enough is probably saying the same
05:45thing so too Geoffrey Hurlings but now that we've got Ruben Fernandez and Jeremy Siwa in the mix
05:51and Maxime Renault all of a sudden this MXGP title race in terms of points gained or lost
05:57is really really starting to become very critical isn't it? Geisser try to go down the inside of
06:04Maxime Renault there. Renault the Grand Prix win here a year ago just over a year ago
06:12Ruben Fernandez continues to lead the way
06:16there's Prado closing in on the Swiss oh nice move that from Geisser sides his way into fourth
06:21place that's Maxime Renault gains another point crucially he is just behind but look at Renault's
06:26response here i don't care about the championship i'm here just to win races win Grand Prix
06:34that was the response there from Maxime Renault but he's going to be uh
06:39i was gonna say he's going to be on the wrong side here but Geisser can't find his way down
06:42the inside but now he does take the Yamaha man and gets back onto the rear wheel of Jorge Prado
06:50oh and uh Siwa tips over from second
06:57hands a position to Prado and Geisser these two now have been the second and third
07:11and Hurlix will just be behind these guys unless he's uh struggling to find his way past Maxime
07:16Renault. Geisser can go 10 points clear if he finds his way past Jorge Prado
07:27he's down to eight points at the moment the championship battle Hurlix coming into play there
07:35chasing down the 959 Monterrey's Yamaha Maxime Renault
07:40Red Bull KTM rider will try to get to the inside here but he'll get closed down
07:45Hurlix can't afford to hang around though still struggling with that back injury we don't really
07:50know where from well i do i spoke to him yesterday he goes around the outside of Renault and moves up
07:55into fourth place
08:02he was okay until after the Swedish Grand Prix then he just stepped out onto something just
08:08jarred his back and he's been struggling ever since he's having a ride on painkillers
08:14but Fernandez leads Prado second Geisser third Hurlix fourth the top three in the championship
08:20in the first four places gifting up to fifth
08:24Siwa sorry gifting up to sixth place and Siwa down to seventh
08:34Geisser needing a favorite from his teammate here at the moment
08:38because Jorge Prado is closing in on Ruben Fernandez to come straight in this kind of pace
08:45how is the arm pump going to be for the Spaniard
08:53went out in the first turn in the ram qualifying race at the opening round in Argentina he comes
08:58to a halt Prado goes around the outside takes over the lead and the 10-point position
09:03Geisser now in third place
09:09and Hurlix in fourth
09:19Prado was fastest last time around 1.43.203 fastest lap of the race
09:26he's already two seconds clear of Ruben Fernandez
09:29as he looks to put daylight between himself and Geisser and Hurlix
09:39Prado top of your screen through the right left kink hits the finish line jump now
09:44another fastest lap a 1.41.391
09:49right left kink hits the finish line jump now another fastest lap a 1.41.391 Fernandez 44.3
09:57Geisser 43.2 43.7 Hurlix the gap now almost two seconds between Prado and Fernandez
10:03one and a half between the Spaniard and the Slovenian and Hurlix about 1.3 seconds further back
10:12Maxime Renaud not letting these guys off the hook but maybe just thinking you know what
10:16let the championship situation play out for now
10:30Geisser putting more distance between himself and the bullet 1.6 at the last split
10:41all right watch this here Jeffrey Hurlix he gated position number one didn't he meanwhile
10:49Tim Geisser finding his way past Ruben Fernandez moves in the second place
10:54three seconds down on Prado though will he go for the win or try and go for the win
10:59or is that too much to risk for one point
11:03oh
11:20they're getting out of the gate is that
11:28will there be more fastest laps this time around for Jorge Prado
11:30as Hurlix gets closer to Ruben Fernandez you can get up here a little bit tighter it's a little
11:36bit straight to run through wheeling over that little single it's only a matter of time before
11:41the 84 goes past the 70 you feel will it come at the end of this next straight or Fernandez
11:49will pinch him to the inside that's exactly the right thing to do hold a tight inside line
11:55hold up the bullet try and be a good teammate can't go down the right hand side decides to go
12:02outside over the berm as you try to get alongside Fernandez you're gonna have to stay a little bit
12:09lower here and brave around the outside inside combo oh tell you what Fernandez was brave and
12:16then he messed up and Hurlix goes through anyway Hurlix now up in the third
12:32the first three separated by about seven seconds
12:38with 10 minutes plus two laps to go
12:47right Maximo and Jeremy Seaworth getting closer to Ruben Fernandez
12:51as they look to move into fourth and fifth positions respectively
13:07Prado won the ramp qualifying race here a year ago from Fevre
13:11where is Fevre he's in 14th had a terrible time in the time practice session with 24th gate pick
13:24here it's Van Donick they're out of the race Hurlix
13:27Maximo closing in on Fernandez
13:39those braking bumps were nice and soft and a little bit squidgy with the moisture in them
13:43earlier but now they're starting to dry they're just like clay holes that the riders hit going
13:48in that straight in the opposite direction Maximo tries to get around the outside but
13:52there was only going to be one winner there Ruben Fernandez two lines coming into one
13:58Fernandez still fourth for now Seaworth coming into play
14:04on that Kawasaki gets alongside Maximo Urged on by the home fans
14:10the Frenchman tries to lean on him here he does so successfully maintains that fifth place
14:19the rider in great
14:24five's tight up there
14:27so
14:32guys it was quicker than Prado last time around a full second
14:35as they dispute the lead 3.8 those two separated by
14:44foreign
14:52good for the confidence this for Ruben Fernandez first race back first race this year
14:58crashed out the first turn in the Rome qualifying race in Argentina the opening round
15:14as you can see we're back on terms but uh
15:18Maximo he gets on the power early a mistake there from
15:22Ruben Fernandez as well as the Frenchman came through Renault now up in the fourth
15:37but a good response as well at the head of the field Prado now 4.4 seconds clear of Geiser
15:42he responds with a 1.42 exactly eight tenths quicker than the championship leader
15:49looking to reduce that gap to eight points if he can in this Rome qualifying race
16:03I can see you were neatly up on the pegs around the outside of Ruben Fernandez
16:08moves into fifth place
16:16flares around this racetrack
16:20making it difficult for the riders to see at times
16:27there's Abi Ferrato coming into play as well number 303
16:30the standing construct Honda rider there he is we haven't seen him
16:35too much this year working his way back to fitness just behind the number 70 there in yellow
16:42and Ferrato who was fifth in the time practice session
16:46six in the free practice session so obviously feeling very comfortable around this racetrack
16:51and again Ruben sorry Albi Ferrato his fifth Grand Prix this year big injuries at the start
16:58of the season kept him out of the campaign and he's looking good
17:08well Ruben Fernandez he did lead until Jorge Prado found his way through round the outside
17:13because of that slight bobble and then it's been a bit busy there as well because his teammate
17:17found his way by Tim Geiser that put him in the second Hurling's found his way through into third
17:22as well shortly after that as he went outside inside thought he'd got it there but he just
17:28ran out of turn Hurling's through into third and then Maxim Reneau found his way to fourth a moment
17:34ago as well then just as the Frenchman went through there was a slight mistake then Siwa
17:41moving into fifth just around the outside and a replay of the start here Hurling's here
17:48yep yeah he had nowhere to go look had to ride the banking that was always brave look how far
17:54back he is there oh that was Van Donick going down hard he got clipped as well on the way through
17:59no wonder he's feeling second hand
18:04anyway Geoffrey Hurling's 6.8 seconds behind Tim Geiser
18:09not worth the risk with four and a half to go
18:18Jeremy Siwa closing in on Maxim Reneau
18:23literally a home race for the number 91 and the number 87 Kevin Brumman who's in 20th place
18:30him and Dylan Walsh 19 and 20 and they were what uh 21 and 22 in the time practice session so
18:36line of stern for those two again Kevin Brumman on the 67 racing Husqvarna about 40 minutes from here
18:49Jeremy Siwa kicking himself after that mistake
18:51Ferrato has moved into sixth he's found his way past Ruben Fernandez
18:58they'll be coming back in the opposite direction any moment now or going back in the opposite direction
19:02hard loose choppy here's Roman Fevre he's up to 11th place just found his way past Tom Cott
19:10the 226
19:13doing his best to keep Guillaume back there i think it was or maybe Spees
19:19of Ferrato
19:22is he being off
19:25he has hasn't he because uh all of a sudden he's missing his visor
19:29and uh i think it's just about to get his visor back
19:35just about to get his visor back
19:38he's got his visor back
19:39Has he been off? He has, hasn't he? Because all of a sudden he's missing his visor.
19:46And Ferrato now dealing with the number three of Roman Fevre because he's just
19:57behind Fernandez a lap or so ago.
20:02Right, keeping Fevre back at bay. It's a good charge through the field though for the number
20:11three, Roman Fevre.
20:16Jumps across to the left-hand side.
20:20Mayden Ferrato going down sector one somewhere.
20:26That's 38 seconds compared to like the 25s of the riders ahead of him and the
20:33old 26.
20:42Roman Fevre, he'll be brave to keep it there because that bank comes in and
20:47squeezes you if you get too close on the left-hand side but he does find his way
20:51past the Italian. Moves up in the ninth place, Roman Fevre.
21:10Glenn Colden off here, 2.59. He's in seventh place just behind Ruben
21:16Fernandez. Shared the points but not the podium a week ago in Arnhem. Just missed
21:23out in that third position as Geisser got it. Better result in race two.
21:28Fernandez runs into trouble there. Koltunov goes through, moves into sixth
21:31place.
21:33See he was still not able to find a way past his former teammate, Maxim Rinov.
21:51Not for the lack of trying though. Again, had he not made that mistake when he
21:56fell from second to sixth and then briefly down to seventh, could be looking
22:01at a slightly different result. Gate pick for the number 91 Swiss. He's up
22:07the inside here, holding a nice tight line.
22:19Kevin Horkmop, 24. He's found his way past Fernandez. He moves into seventh
22:24place.
22:27Right at the end of lap 11.
22:37So Kevin Horkmop.
22:41The lead, ship to cycle, Honda Motor Blues SR ride up. Siwa doing everything
22:51and a little bit more to try and find his way past Maxim Rinov. Could be noisy
22:56on the campsite. Fortunately they're about 7k away from here as well. See them
23:00on the drive-in before you get off at the exit on the highway. It was tight
23:07there a couple of laps ago. It was tight again between Rinov and Siwa. Siwa
23:12insistent that he's going to try and jump up the inside knowing that the
23:15rider ahead is going to go right middle and then left, but he's pushing here.
23:23Anything to find his way into that fourth position. Two lap board going out
23:29next time around for Prado and Geisser. They're separated by five and a half
23:32seconds at the minute or thereabouts.
23:36Here is Jorge Prado, 1.44.669. 12 laps in the books. Tim Geisser hits the line
23:43any moment now. 1.45.142. Gap goes out to almost five seconds now between the
23:48Spaniard, the defending champion here, and the five-time champ, Tim Geisser.
23:563.37. There, Yuri Kvartik doing his best to stay out of the way, but Rinov and Siwa
24:04nothing in it between those two as they hit the line. Eight tenths of a second.
24:10It's Tim Geisser taking control of that second place now. He's almost eight
24:14seconds clear of Geoffrey Hurlings. 1.31 there. Kato Nical needs to be
24:21mindful of what's going on behind him.
24:26Rinov goes through. Siwa, talk about a balancing act. And again, back markers,
24:35not wary of the race going on around him. You've seen Prado go by, seen Geisser go
24:39by, seen Hurlings go by, you've now seen Rinov go by. Do yourself a favor, look up
24:44pay attention, get involved in the race. It's not yours. It's not the first time we've seen it.
24:52We've seen it a lot regularly.
25:02Siwa has got himself right back onto the rear wheel of Rinov. We thought he had a
25:07bit of momentum there, just came to a bit of a stop start in that right hander.
25:14Getting ready to take the one lap board. Right on cue. Jorge Prado. It was 4.8 clear.
25:26Rider goes down just ahead of him. Was that Stauffer's KTM? 701? Quite possibly.
25:38A bit of breathing space for Max and Rinov at the moment. 1.1 seconds, that's probably the biggest it's been.
25:49There's Stauffer walking away from his motorcycle. Back markers coming into play all of a sudden.
25:58And that's Arnaud Tonus, who's a lap down there in 28th place. Riding here as a wild card this weekend.
26:03Max and Rinov on the ropes now. Siwa will go outside. I'll tell you what, Max and Rinov
26:16putting the squeeze on Siwa, who then tips over, somehow stays up. Lucky not to go down in those ruts as well.
26:27Came in hot and you can very very easily twist a knee or an ankle
26:30in that situation. Looks like Max and Rinov are going to be left off the hook here.
26:46A handful of corners to go though for Jorge Prado.
26:51Another fantastic start. He's gonna move to five grand qualifying race wins now.
27:00Looks back just one more time. A little bit of a fist pump. Jorge Prado wins the
27:08ramp qualifying race here in Switzerland. Five pole positions now for the Spaniard.
