00:00The word ghaffar comes from the word gha-fa-ra and it means to cover, hide, protect and forgive.
00:09The word mighfar also comes from the same root word and one of its meanings is a helmet.
00:15A helmet covers your head, but it doesn't just cover your head, it protects it.
00:21Allah is called al-ghaffar, he is the one that covers, hides, protects and forgives
00:27all our sins and faults over and over again.
00:30Allah says in the Holy Quran, Indeed I forgive again and again to those who repent, believe
00:38and do good deeds.
00:40The word istaghfirullah, I seek forgiveness from Allah also comes from the same word gha-fa-ra.
00:48The Quran also says istaghfiru, seek forgiveness from your Rabb, your Nurturer, because he
00:56is indeed ghaffar, the most forgiving over and over again.
01:01If you have sinned and committed wrong, don't lose hope, Satan loves it when we lose hope.
01:07If you are sincere, seek forgiveness with al-ghaffar, who forgives and hides your sins
01:13over and over again.
01:15What if you sinned again and again, over and over, still, don't lose hope, Allah gives
01:22us the opportunity to ask for forgiveness.
01:25Al-ghaffar will cover and protect your sins, doing so over and over again, covering your
01:31faults so that you are not humiliated or embarrassed in front of others in this life or the next
01:37life.
01:38Al-ghaffar should be one of the closest names to the heart of a believer.
01:42There is not a day that passes without falling into a sin.
01:46If you are really sincere, seek forgiveness with Allah.
01:50Pray du'as like du'a Qumayl, asking Allah to cover all your faults, a very powerful
01:56du'a that even has a whole section where the root word of ghaffar is used.
02:02You should also cover and protect the faults of others.
02:05We would not like it if our faults were uncovered and seen by others.
02:10Just as al-ghaffar covers and protects our faults, we too should protect and cover the
02:15faults of others.
