00:00My name's Andy Dougherty. I'm an actor and I play all the roles in the play Nancy Bush and Anigans.
00:07And how do you feel about the 1901st performance in front of an audience?
00:11It felt good. Different parts to laugh at. I'm happy it was the first time I had a laughing audience.
00:17It's usually three people who have been watching it from the very start, so it's completely different.
00:20But it feeds it. You get to dance along with them. You feel how close they are to you.
00:24You know where they're at, if they're with you or not with you, so it was great.
00:28I loved it. I'm just ready to go now. I could do it again.
00:31What's your emotions coming off of stage?
00:34At the end it's quite angry, so I go on and do a decompression afterwards for my throat.
00:41But it sort of helps me calm down as well, because I'll be talking for an hour.
00:44It's quite strenuous, not just singing and stuff, so decompression helps calm me down as well.
00:49And you've got a standing ovation out there, haven't you?
00:52Good, eh? Good. Long may they last.
00:54Tomorrow a couple down, the next couple of days and we're laughing.
00:56Yes, my name is JP Conaghan.
00:58And what did you do for the play?
01:00I'm the director and designer of the piece.
01:03Can you tell me about your experience at the scene of the rehearsal, just when it's finished?
01:08How do you feel?
01:10Having an audience in front of Andy, we needed that today.
01:14There's things that we've got to learn now again and take it to another level.
01:18We haven't had an audience in front of him, so for me there were nuances in the play that I didn't see.
01:24But it's a scene now, so I've got to go back now, a couple of notes and be like,
01:27here, sort this, fix this, do this here.
01:29But hey, a lovely show, a lovely show. We smashed it.
01:32You've got a standing ovation there, how do you feel?
01:34That's well humbling. That's really humbling.
01:37Okay, my name is Sian Gillespie and I'm the producer of Nancy Boy Shenanigans.
01:41How do you think the first performance went tonight?
01:43You were dressed for the first time in a while.
01:45Were you nervous?
01:47Absolutely. I was more nervous, I think, than everybody.
01:50But, I mean, it's a powerful piece of theatre.
01:53Andy was phenomenal, as always, so professional in everything he does.
01:57It's just hugely powerful and you've seen from the reaction of the audience at the end
02:01that it's an incredible piece of theatre.
02:04You've got a standing ovation there. What's that like, seeing everyone get up and enjoy what you've worked on?
02:09It's a huge achievement. It really is.
02:11We've been working on this since January.
02:13And just seeing the whole process and the journey of it all
02:16and the finished product, it's more than I could expect.
