00:00Welcome to MissMojo, and today we're counting down our picks of great Channing Tatum dance
00:09moments in the movies, on TV, and in real life.
00:19Number 20.
00:20Let It Go – The Psync Battle
00:28We could definitely see Let It Go from Frozen being many people's go-to karaoke song.
00:34But Lip Sync Battle?
00:35The Oscar and Grammy-winning song is a slow-building ballad that you wouldn't think has enough
00:40real dancing opportunities for the show.
00:42But on the Season 2 premiere, Channing Tatum proved otherwise.
00:53In full Queen Elsa garb, Tatum, going up against his then-wife Jenna Dewan, bursts
00:58forth from his snow-covered confines, getting the whole crowd behind him with his graceful
01:03moves and his commitment to the performance.
01:15Number 19.
01:16It's Raining Men – Magic Mike
01:30As you might imagine, there will be quite a few Magic Mike moments on this list.
01:34And we're starting off strong with the It's Raining Men scene from the first film back
01:39in 2012.
01:55Using a specially created dubstep version of the classic disco track, Channing Tatum
02:00and his sexy co-stars get their umbrellas poppin' in this hot number.
02:04While this is a group dance, Tatum is out front as the lead dancer on this one, playing
02:09to the film-going audience as well as the crowded club full of cheering ladies.
02:14Number 18.
02:15Where's Tyler at?
02:16Step Up
02:172006's Step Up was Channing Tatum's big break, and where many of us first learned that, damn,
02:31this guy can dance.
02:33Our first glimpse of his abilities was on display right away in the film's opening scene.
02:37The scene takes place at a party attended by Tatum's Tyler Gage and his two friends
02:42Mac and Skinny Carter.
02:44When the Carters are ready to bounce, the question comes up, where's Tyler at?
02:48The answer is, cut to Tatum busting a move on the dance floor.
02:58It might have been the first time many of us saw him dance, but it most definitely wouldn't
03:03be the last.
03:04Number 17.
03:05Seven Moves in 30 Seconds.
03:07Vanity Fair
03:08In 2015, as promotion for the upcoming release of Magic Mike XXL, Channing Tatum had a little
03:21fun with Vanity Fair.
03:23With a clock counting 30 seconds in the corner of the screen, Tatum works his way through
03:26seven different dance moves.
03:28Although he is promoting a movie about male strippers, this playful vid remains strictly
03:33PG.
03:34There's no bumping and grinding, and his clothes don't come off.
03:37Instead, Tatum, with a smile on his face, breaks out The Running Man, The Funky Chicken,
03:42The Robot, and even does some very impressive voguing.
03:52Number 16.
03:53Lap Dance.
03:54The Ellen DeGeneres Show
03:55Yes, we know it happens fast, and there really isn't a whole lot of dancing, but come on.
04:10How can we watch Tatum give Ellen a little taste of his male stripper days and not include
04:15it here?
04:16Like the studio audience, we also watched those few seconds of Tatum backing it up and
04:21just imagine it was us in that seat instead of Miss DeGeneres, as our hand, involuntarily,
04:27goes searching for bills in our pocket.
04:29And Tatum's red face and embarrassed smile only makes us like him even more.
04:40Number 15.
04:41Florida Strip Club.
04:42At this point, it isn't a big, shocking reveal to say that the Magic Mike movie was loosely
04:47based on Channing Tatum's actual experiences as a male stripper.
04:51After dropping out of college, Tatum moved back home and was working odd jobs, including
04:55as a roofer, when he started stripping at a local nightclub under the alias Chan Crawford.
05:14This isn't a secret, however, knowing about it and seeing it are two very different things.
05:20So when Us Weekly posted a video of Tatum from his stripper days, well, just watch and
05:25enjoy.
05:34Number 14.
05:35Tripping.
05:3622 Jump Street.
05:37Obviously in Magic Mike and Step Up, there's going to be plenty of dancing, but when you
05:41have a guy as talented as Channing Tatum, you try to work a dance scene into every movie,
05:47including 22 Jump Street.
05:48And all they needed to do was get him and Jonah Hill high.
05:57The scene has the two officers tripping hard, but while Hill is having a scary fire and
06:02brimstone trip, for Tatum, it's all happiness, rainbows, and dancing.
06:06At one point, there are even three Tatums all dancing at the same time.
06:10If one Tatum is good, three has to be better, right?
06:20Number 13.
06:21Pony Routine.
06:22Magic Mike.
06:23You knew, we knew, everyone knew this one was going to be on the list.
06:26The only question was, where?
06:38We can't have a list dedicated to Channing Tatum dance moments and not mention the Pony
06:42Routine from Magic Mike.
06:44And if we're being honest, we can never hear this song without thinking about that dance.
06:55That iconic R&B beat, the erotically charged moves, and those screaming women all make
07:00this a must-see Tatum dance moment.
07:03His dancing abilities might still have been a secret to those who hadn't seen Step Up.
07:08To Pony and Magic Mike, though, the secret, like Tatum's butt, was out.
07:22Number 12.
07:23Dance with Gas Station Employee.
07:25Who's the luckiest gas station employee?
07:27We'd have to give that honour to Beatrice at the Sunoco Station at Statesville, North
07:32Carolina.
07:33Did she win the lottery, you ask?
07:35Well, kinda.
07:36Back in 2017, Beatrice got to do what so many women, and undoubtedly a whole lot of men,
07:41would love to do.
07:43She got to dance with Channing Tatum.
07:51The Magic Mike star was passing through town and had gone live on social media as he meandered
07:57through the gas station's convenience store.
07:59When he went to pay for his drink, that's when he met Beatrice.
08:02Well, one thing led to another, and next thing you know, Tatum and Beatrice are grooving
08:06together behind the cash register.
08:08Awesome.
08:09Uh-oh.
08:23Number 11.
08:24Flash Mob.
08:25Today.
08:26What's next?
08:27I don't know.
08:28You know what I mean?
08:29I got, um, let's see, I'm going to do a movie with Vinnie Rotten.
08:32Back in 2012, Channing Tatum was on the Today show, promoting Magic Mike, when a Flash Mob
08:37broke out.
08:38OK, so it was pretty tame as far as Flash Mobs go, and the stripping was kept to just
08:42the removal of shirts to reveal Magic Mike tank tops, but it definitely caught Al Roker
08:47and Ann Curry by surprise.
08:48Thankfully, Joe Manganiello was there to get them to safety as Tatum stayed back to lead
08:53the mob in a fun, choreographed group dance to It's Raining Men.
09:02Number 10.
09:08Vest dance.
09:09Magic Mike.
09:16It's moments like this that make us thankful for Tatum's past career.
09:20Without it, we wouldn't have this dance from Magic Mike.
09:24For his big solo number, Channing dances in a little more than a vest and a pair of
09:33cargo pants, and absolutely kills it.
09:36His moves are liquid smooth as he glides across the stage to an aggressive techno song.
09:41It's not the cheesy strip routine we're used to seeing in pop culture, and because of that,
09:46it's memorable.
09:52Number 9.
09:53Parking lot dance.
09:54Step Up.
10:02Channing shows off his range when he's making fun of these stuck-up dancers at a performing
10:07arts school.
10:14He's in the parking lot showing off for his friends when he does an impromptu routine
10:18that mixes his natural hip-hop b-boy style versus the balletic classical style the other
10:23students are learning.
10:24He's loose and in his element as he utilises the space, doing flips off the car and braking
10:30on the asphalt.
10:31Channing even pauses his routine to give his co-star and future wife a smouldering look
10:36while keeping the rhythm.
10:43Number 8.
10:44Dancing with Pink.
10:45Beautiful Trauma.
10:47We don't know why more artists don't cast Channing Tatum in their music videos, but
10:50Pink made the right move when she got him to co-star with her in Beautiful Trauma.
11:00Playing a happy-go-lucky 1950s couple, they use dance to demonstrate both the darker and
11:05lighter sides of their marriage.
11:12It's all very tongue-in-cheek, and that playful aspect makes it fun to watch.
11:16They're a well-matched pair, and the choreography shows off their complementary styles.
11:21To date, the video has more than 150 million views, and it only seems to be growing.
11:30Number 7.
11:31The Final Strip.
11:32Magic Mike XXL.
11:41The original film gave audiences a lot, but The Final Strip in Magic Mike XXL had us wanting
11:47more because it was just that amazing.
11:50Channing teamed up with Twitch for a set that had them mirroring each other while giving
11:54the most sensual lap dances on film.
12:05The routine is not just a feat of sexually suggestive dancing, but it also shows off
12:09so much skill in the way that they incorporate the women into the performance, lifting and
12:14bending them to their will.
12:15If it were a real strip routine, the audience would have given all their dollar bills to
12:19make it rain on these men.
12:24Number 6.
12:26Street Dance Battle.
12:27Step up to the streets.
12:35You have to be pretty bold to think that you can best Channing in a dance battle, but we're
12:39thankful for his competition in the Step Up sequel.
12:48Both dancers have something to prove and bring their best to this street-style battle in
12:52the club.
12:53They utilize a trampoline that's built into the ground to do impressive aerial dance moves,
12:58flips and tricks.
12:59Channing's natural athleticism is on display as he jumps higher and lands a pretty impressive
13:04move that has his shirt off by the song's end.
13:07The whole dance sequence is full of high energy and adrenaline.
13:20Number 5.
13:21Run the World Performance.
13:22Lip-sync battle.
13:27Channing knew that for his lip-sync battle, he'd have to bring his A-game, since he was
13:31competing against Jenna Dewan.
13:33And while she gave him a run for his money, he pulled out all of the stops for his Run
13:38the World lip-sync.
13:45Dressed like Beyonce, from leotard to air-blown wig, he hits his marks and executes them just
13:49like Queen Bey would herself.
13:52And while he was already putting on an impressive show by himself, everyone's minds were blown
13:56when Beyonce came out to do the choreography with him.
13:59He kept pace with her, and the performance became the dance duet of the internet's dreams.
14:10Number 4.
14:11Guest Hosting Opening Number.
14:13Jimmy Kimmel Live.
14:25When Jimmy Kimmel needed a guest host for his late-night show, he made the perfect choice
14:29when he called in Channing to substitute.
14:31It's an endearing skit and opening number.
14:34Channing starts off as too nervous to go on, but Ellen DeGeneres gives him the sage advice
14:39to just dance in order to win everyone over.
14:48Her suggestion was the right one, and Channing is incredible as he dances and gets ready
14:52behind the scenes.
15:01He is given some great dance partners, from the tap-dancing props guy to the twirling
15:06janitor.
15:07No matter who he's with, he looks great, and gives it his all before they all rush out
15:11to the main stage for a choreographed routine.
15:19Number 3.
15:21Hail Caesar There aren't many actors today who have the
15:28natural ease and grace that Hollywood legends like Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire demonstrated
15:33in their dance numbers.
15:34But if anyone even comes close, it's Channing.
15:37For Hail Caesar, Channing said he put in a grueling three and a half months of practice
15:42to get this tap routine just right.
15:50He channels old Hollywood for this song and dance number, and looks effortless doing it.
15:55While he's perfectly in sync with his co-stars, he shines during his solo moments too, leaping
16:00across the set and dancing on the bar.
16:03The end result is pretty impressive.
16:10Number 2.
16:11Final Showcase Routine – Step Up Every dance movie needs a show-stopping closing
16:21number, and the finale of Step Up delivers just that.
16:25Giving other iconic numbers a run for their money, this one showed off the natural chemistry
16:29between Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan.
16:39The dance pairs her modern, more ballet-style of dancing with his hip-hop style to create
16:44a sizzling routine.
16:45The climax of the dance is a lift so clean that it would make Baby and Johnny from Dirty
16:50Dancing green with envy.
17:14Number 1.
17:15Another Pony Routine – Magic Mike XXL
17:23Just when you thought the first Pony Routine couldn't be topped, it got the XXL treatment.
17:28The crowning achievement of the franchise, Channing made jaws drop when he did this perfectly
17:33executed dance to Ginuwine's classic stripper anthem, Pony.
17:45It wasn't even an official strip routine in the film.
17:47Instead, it was a moment when Channing's character let his love of dancing overtake him while
17:53working on a carpentry project.
18:03Dancing with a drill in hand, Channing did a tantalizingly sexy dance that was like nothing
18:08we've seen before.
18:09He's such a natural performer that the scene feels organic and like we're peeking in on
18:14a private moment, but we're more than happy to watch.
18:21What Channing Tatum dance moment can you not live without?
