00:00Liverpool has been a UNESCO City of Music since 2015. Our musical reputation
00:06is built around the city's innate ability to continue to generate talent
00:10like no other place on earth. We have been on the streets of Liverpool to ask
00:15why you think we are so musical. A lot of it originally was to do with it being a
00:20port wasn't it? You know in the 1950s the sailors used to bring in American
00:24albums and that influenced the local bands and then that's just set up a
00:28tradition isn't it? A culture. When you live and work somewhere that's very
00:33musical you're likely to be interested in music. It's the influence of how many
00:39big musicians we've had here you know I mean we're in the city centre now you
00:44know you've got the Cavern Club. We hosted the Eurovision lately and we
00:48actually hope and even Taylor Swift chose Liverpool instead of Manchester.
00:54We can't do this without mentioning our most famous Liverpool sons and in
00:58fact we spoke to a couple who were in the city for their 12th International
01:03Beatle Week. We go everywhere. Everywhere. We have tickets to Grand Central,
01:10Philharmonic Hall, Matthew Street Festival, Brighton, Brighton, New Brighton, yes and
01:18we have of course. We also wanted to know what is one band or singer you'd like to
01:23see make a comeback? I think most of the ones I like are mainly still around. Obviously the Beatles but two of them are dead so that's never going to happen and the other two are very elderly now.
01:35One would have to be D12 because I do like Me M&M and I do like a few of their
01:44songs and another one would have to be One Direction.
01:47You can dance! Oh my god definitely Abba. Abba. Definitely, definitely one of those. You know what I was actually listening to Abba the other day and I would love them to come back.
