00:00And responsible gaming is always very important, and it's just a matter of the NFL enforcing
00:08this.
00:09And it does look like quite a bit of money is being spent, Sam, to try and stop this.
00:14I mean, the NFL is worth billions and billions and billions of dollars, so they certainly
00:18have the money to do it.
00:20But at least we're seeing that there is a council involved, that they are making the
00:24effort to try and do so.
00:27Yeah, the NFL has had this relationship with the National Council on Problem Gambling pretty
00:32much ever since sports betting started to spread to other states in 2018, 2019, when
00:37the Supreme Court repealed PASPA.
00:39And this past week, they renewed their commitment for an extra three years, assigning $6.4 million
00:47to this organization, which is in charge of the National Gambling Helpline.
00:52They're the main gambling harm prevention advocate nationally.
00:55They work with a lot of inner cities on gambling awareness training.
00:59They work with Congress on legislation.
01:01They work with different states.
01:02So they're essentially the big organization that represents this.
01:06And actually, the biggest commitment in their history was the previous one the NFL gave.
01:10So now the NFL is kind of breaking its record and giving more money here.
01:14That money is going to be used to modernize the National Gambling Helpline.
01:18A lot of states have very specific helplines, where if you call a certain number, you need
01:23to get rerouted to a different state.
01:25There's different numbers in different states.
01:27So they have a 1-800-GAMBLER number, which kind of unites everything there.
01:31And they're going to use a lot of the money, too, to create programs in underserved communities
01:35where people are maybe more inclined to be exposed to the risks of gambling.
01:41Maybe young athletes are more inclined to be, you know, someone come to, you know, obfuscate
01:49or mess with them or try to get, you know, them to manipulate the game in some way.
01:53So that's going to kind of be the focus of the money here in terms of the National Gambling
01:57Helpline prevention and then also creating a program for these underserved communities.
02:01So a good example for the rest of the leaps to follow, I would say.
