00:00Assalam-o-Alaikum, today we will talk about Lysosome. Lysosome means breakdown,
00:11down. And Soma means body, which breaks down things. So first of all let's look at its
00:27introduction. In the mid-20th century, a Bulgarian scientist named Christian Reni-Didiot,
00:37discovered Lysosome. Lysosome is a single-membrane-bonded organelle. Lysosome is an organelle and its
00:49structure is pink. Christian Reni-Didiot discovered Lysosome. In the previous lecture,
01:11we had studied about rough endoplasmic reticulum and ribosome. What do these two make? Protein.
01:22Smooth endoplasmic reticulum makes lipid. So, after making protein and lipid in endoplasmic
01:32reticulum and ribosome, it comes in Golgi apparatus, in the form of vesicles, as you can see in this
01:42diagram. So, Golgi apparatus stores these vesicles. And whenever cell needs these things, Golgi
01:52apparatus slightly modifies them and covers their grid membrane. After this, wherever
02:04protein and lipids are needed in the cell, they are delivered there. And if needed outside
02:12the cell, these vesicles are delivered outside the cell. This was the work of Golgi apparatus.
02:18So, the protein and lipid, rough endoplasmic reticulum, ribosome and smooth endoplasmic
02:29reticulum come in Golgi apparatus. They make an enzyme by mixing protein and lipid. Golgi
02:41apparatus makes an enzyme by mixing these two and covers its grid membrane. This is called
02:51lysosome. As you can see, Golgi apparatus has made lysosome by mixing protein and lipid.
03:01And this lysosome is called primary lysosome. And what is the function of lysosome? It digests
03:12food. So, when it is fused with food, it is called secondary lysosome. So, how is lysosome
03:24made? Protein and lipids come from endoplasmic reticulum and ribosome. Golgi apparatus converts
03:36protein and lipids and covers its grid membrane. This is called lysosome. What is the function
03:44of lysosome? Lysosome is an enzyme which breaks down. Its function is digestion. It digests
03:55food. As you can see in the diagram, this is a food particle. It enters the cell. There
04:02are many lysosomes in the cell. So, it is fused with the food particle. As you can see
04:09in the diagram, upper part is lysosome and lower part is food particle. It is fused with
04:16lysosome. After this, it breaks down these particles through its enzyme. And it converts
04:23large molecules into simple molecules. It converts into simple molecules and absorbs
04:33the molecules which are needed in the cell. It takes out the waste material from the cell.
04:40So, what was its first function? It was food digestion. Its second function is that if
04:48any bacteria enters the cell, it fuses with the bacteria. After this, it breaks down the
04:55bacteria. After this, it takes out the waste material from the cell. So, what was its first
05:02function? It was food digestion. Its second function is that if any bacteria enters the
05:09cell, it fuses with the bacteria. After this, it breaks down the bacteria. After this, it
05:16takes out the waste material from the cell. So, what was its second function? Its first
05:23function is that if any bacteria enters the cell, it fuses with the bacteria. After this,
05:30it breaks down the bacteria. After this, it takes out the waste material from the cell.
05:37After this, it breaks down the bacteria.
