‘Vanderpump Rules’ Brittany Cartwright Files for DIVORCE From Jax Taylor _ E! News

00:00Britney Cartwright and Jax Taylor are officially over. E! News has obtained court documents stating

00:06Britney filed for divorce from her husband of five years. In the filing the 35-year-old states

00:13she and Jax have been separated since January 24th and lists the reason for the split as quote

00:19irreconcilable differences. She also requests primary legal and physical custody of their

00:25three-year-old son Cruz and for Jax to be granted child visitation. Britney has asked to terminate

00:31the court's ability to award spousal support to her or Jax. Since announcing their separation in

00:37February the Vanderpump Rules alums who tied the knot in 2019 have been moving on with their lives

00:44and that includes dating other people. With Britney telling E! News back in June,

00:49we've said going into this that we could test the waters with other people if we wanted to

00:54so i know that seems weird it might be like a little crazy for a lot of people but that's like

00:58what we wanted to do um it's obviously hurtful to see things and have to go through this stuff

01:05so publicly but at the same time like as you see in the finale i was pushed to this decision i would

01:11never never want to do all this right like have all this going on in my life if it wasn't absolutely

01:18necessary. And the pair has continued adjusting to their new normal with a big part of that being

01:23putting Cruz's needs first. Britney said to E! News back in April, we are very friendly with each

01:29other we're raising our child so that's most important. And speaking of the Valley's season

01:35one finale, Britney confronted Jax during the June 4th episode over his hurtful insults that were the

01:41last straw causing her to move out of their LA home. You're not just gonna get away for the way

01:46you treated me for all these years and because you want to sit there acting all cool comic

01:50like you're not. The nights that i've been here like sometimes it gets to a scary point where i'm like

01:56oh like i don't know how to handle it. Because he would yell in front of you guys

02:00like he didn't care who he embarrassed me in front of. Does he say like i know i treat you

02:04like s**t i know i'm mean i know i've called you fat and i've told you you're lazy and then oh that

02:09you're not gonna have any friends if you guys break up? That was like one of the main things

02:12him saying that i had no friends here in LA. But through it all Britney knows she made the right

02:17decision for herself and her son saying during her podcast when reality hits i'm taking one day

02:24at a time i don't know what the future holds but right now my focus is on being the best mom to

02:30crews.
