00:00CILG clarified that the police will continue to guard the KOJC compound.
00:06The national police also stated that their operation will not go far from the rights of their members.
00:14This is Patrick De Jesus for Sandro Nang Barita.
00:18The PNP will now issue a petition to clarify the temporary protection order issued by RTC Branch 15 in Davao City
00:29to the KOJC compound.
00:31According to DILG Secretary Benjur Abalos,
00:34the police's only duty here is to remove the barricades around the compound,
00:40which is not an obstacle to the freedom or security of the members of KOJC.
00:46For DILG, there is no provision in the court order that the PNP should leave the inside of the KOJC compound.
00:54Therefore, the operation will be continued.
00:57In serving the warrant of arrest against the KOJC leader Apollo Q. Buloy and other accused,
01:05where they are about to be found possibly in an underground bunker.
01:11Without compromising the police's operations, the indications are strong.
01:17In fact, we have a lot of people and machines there that we're using
01:23to find them both above ground and underground.
01:27All of this is being done.
01:29This is also the opinion of the PNP in the issued order
01:33that their mandate in carrying out the warrant is not to be stopped.
01:37They should proceed according to the legal process and human rights.
01:43Again, PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil said
01:47that their action in the KOJC compound is legitimate
01:51and not to violate the rights of its members.
01:55In spite of the different interpretations,
01:58the legal counsel of KOJC, Atty. Israelito Torreon,
02:04considered the temporary protection order from the court to be a good development.
02:08But he hopes that the police will leave their compound.
02:12Meanwhile, for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,
02:16there was no violation of human rights
02:19and the PNP's operation in KOJC was not overkill.
02:24Is there a human rights violation if there are a lot of police?
02:27That's what he said.
02:29I don't think so.
02:31Anyway, the reason we did this was so that we could maintain the peace.
02:40The only way to maintain the peace
02:42is to make sure that the area is safe and is secure.
02:46And considering this is a 30 hectare compound,
02:51you really need a lot of people.
02:54You can't do this with just a dozen police.
02:58So that those who are fighting or resisting,
03:03those who are blocking,
03:05you can't do that.
03:07It's like inspecting a 30 hectare compound.
03:10You need a lot of people.
03:12The President of the PNP, who is behind Kibuloy's actions, also objected.
03:17He added that it's not right to make the authorities pay.
03:21The supporters of KOJC.
03:24I don't understand why Kibuloy is involving his people.
03:33Because he's attacking his people.
03:36It's not his fault.
03:38They just believe they're looking for a value system.
03:43And they think they have found it with Kibuloy.
03:47But they did not sign up to be in the front line of this kind of thing that's happening now.
03:53That they will protect him from arrest,
03:55even when he has cases filed against him,
03:58not only here in the Philippines, but also in the United States.
04:01So, I suppose I can understand their disagreement with us, even anger.
04:13But what all that the police are doing
04:17is enforcing the warrant of arrest against Apollo Kibuloy.
04:25Patrick de Azuz for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
