00:00Randy Orton has backstage heat, WWE nearly kill one wrestler's career, disputes over
00:06a major WWE change and more.
00:10I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:17Randy Orton's grown a lot in the last few years.
00:20Just look at him physically.
00:21He looks as though Randy Orton ate Randy Orton as a protein supplement.
00:24But he's also grown as a man.
00:27There used to be rumours of him dumping pranks in people's bags, hazing new writers and
00:32having multiple wellness policy suspensions.
00:35Yet in recent years, he's repaired his relationship with the returning CM Punk, has admitted he
00:39used to do dumb s-word behind the scenes, and generally seems very demure, very mindful.
00:46So it's odd to see him get dragged into a story of backstage heat in 2024, implying
00:51what I'm about to tell you could be a good old fashioned Worky McWorkface.
00:56At SummerSlam earlier this month, Logan Paul was accompanied down to the ring by his fellow
01:00Cleveland native, the rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
01:03Now appearing on Logan's implausive podcast, Kelly claims he had a verbal altercation with
01:08Orton before the show began.
01:10I was in the ring, just coming to Logan to see what we could work out for the show.
01:14I saw Randy Orton.
01:15I remember seeing Randy Orton talk s-word about me.
01:18There was a point where I was like, I'm going to practice a new version of myself.
01:22Three, two, one, f-ck that.
01:25Hey man, f-ck you.
01:27All my boys were sitting there stunned.
01:29Is this real?
01:30I don't know what's happening.
01:31The amount of people that pinned me as the aggressor in every situation I'm in are
01:36so wrong.
01:37Randy Orton replied to Kelly's podcast comments by tagging him with a PINOCCHIO NOSE EMOJI,
01:42insinuating he's a liar liar pants on fire.
01:45To which Kelly replied, You have my number and you know why you have
01:48it by the way, but I won't even put you on blast for that.
01:51Check your texts.
01:52PINOCCHIO EMOJI right back.
01:55Cameras were rolling.
01:56Tell WWE to put that out.
01:58SHRUGGIE EMOJI.
02:00Detective Eyeglass Emoji.
02:01PINOCCHIO EMOJI again.
02:03Orton's recent tag partner Kevin Owens provided backup, posting a picture of him and Orton
02:08together and another of Paul and Kelly side by side.
02:11Implying some kind of tag team match, players.
02:13Owens has his own history with Kelly, where he powerbombed him off the stage on a 2015
02:17episode of Raw.
02:18Orton and Owens vs Logan Paul and Machine Gun Kelly at the next Saudi show confirmed.
02:22In one mark in the shoot column, though, this isn't the first time Orton has had a public
02:27spat with a rapper.
02:29Back in 2021, Soulja Boy had called pro wrestling fake, which prompted a lengthy back and forth
02:34debate with Orton, which included this post.
02:37Fake, right Soulja Boy?
02:39By the way, which one of yo babies' mamas do I send the bill to for making you relevant
02:43again?
02:44I assume they all own your ass.
02:45So who's cutting those checks?
02:47With photos of Drew McIntyre and Sheamus' scars from a match on Raw, and, more famously,
02:52this RKO from out of Twitter.
02:54My dick taller than you.
02:56Weighs more too.
02:57Go to bed, you f***ing infant.
02:59You're welcome for the boost.
03:01Go choke on a keyboard.
03:02Do you think Orton and Kelly really have backstage heat?
03:05Let me know in the comments, because I'll be replying to people FROM OUTTA NOWHERE.
03:09Which actually fits this time, because this is about Randy Orton.
03:12In the BP era of WWE, before Paul, any number of things can potentially kill your career.
03:19Backstage heat with rappers, sneezing in front of the wrong person and, worst of all, having
03:24your name changed.
03:25After a successful run in NXT, Vince McMahon debuted Pete Dunne in March 2022 with the
03:30new name Butch.
03:33He would portray a Scrappy-Doo style fighting character worse only in name than Shorty G.
03:38Now wrestling as Pete Dunne again, he beat Xavier Woods and The Miz on Monday's Raw.
03:43Dunne will now wrestle in a four way match on the 9th, with the winner becoming the number
03:46one contender to Brom Breaker's Intercontinental Championship.
03:49At the same time, though, Dunne is feuding with his former Brawling Brutes leader Sheamus,
03:54who keeps calling him by his old Butch name.
03:57Following his win on Raw, Butch, I mean Dunne, revealed how bad that name was for him in
04:01a promo on YouTube.
04:03For Sheamus, that scum man, to turn around and still call me Butch, to have a laugh at
04:08something that nearly killed my career.
04:11When I win that tournament and I have my hand lifted in the air, you can all call me something
04:15I approve of.
04:17Champion.
04:18Injuries are another way to derail your career, and it's been revealed that was the reason
04:22Bo Dallas disappeared from WWE for five years, before his recent return as part of the Wyatt
04:29Six.
04:30His match on Monday's Raw wasn't just the in-ring debut of his Uncle Howdy character,
04:34it was his first full match in five years.
04:38And his father Mike Rotunda has written on Instagram explaining what happened during
04:43that time.
04:44Taylor actually broke his neck in October of 2019.
04:47He came home to heal, then COVID hit.
04:50Then he got in the best shape of his entire life, and then he was released in 2021.
04:56Another good way to get buried in WWE is good old fashioned politics.
05:00Swerve Strickland signed a new AEW deal on Sunday, said to be one of the biggest in the
05:04company, and then main evented their biggest show of the year, All In, at Wembley Stadium
05:09in one of the most emotional matches ever against Bryan Danielson.
05:12It's a long way from where he was in WWE from 2019 to 2021.
05:17His Hit Row faction was drafted to the main roster in October 2021, and were bafflingly
05:21released the next month.
05:23Now in an interview with the Rich Eisen Show, Strickland has hinted towards what prevented
05:27him from having success in WWE.
05:31Political moves.
05:32Just political moves, I can say.
05:34There are conflicting reports over whether a major change is coming to the way WWE run
05:39their talent system.
05:40Ahead of this Sunday's NXT No Mercy Premium Live event, WrestleVotes posted the following
05:45report.
05:46According to a source, there was an all-employee meeting today at WWE HQ in Stanford hosted
05:51by Mark Shapiro.
05:52I'm told the biggest news to come out of the meeting is that the WWE Performance Center
05:57will be moving to Las Vegas in the near future.
06:00The Wrestling Observer seemingly backed this up, posting that a new Las Vegas developmental
06:04location could be replacing the Orlando Performance Center, or could just be an additional venue.
06:10This is a huge upheaval, as the Performance Center has been in Orlando, Florida, training
06:15and developing wrestlers since it was first built in 2013.
06:18It's also where NXT hosts their weekly TV.
06:21It's yet another move in bringing the WWE and UFC closer together under their shared
06:26TKO ownership, as Las Vegas is also where the UFC's training facilities are placed.
06:31Earlier this year, NXT even hosted their Battleground event at the UFC Apex venue in Las Vegas.
06:37But following that first report, Fightful Selectors reported Shapiro did not make such
06:43an announcement, and was merely making a point that Vegas is a destination, and that having
06:47a presence there is on the table.
06:50The Wrestling Observer double-checked with their sources, and claimed WWE is denying
06:54the story, and said Shapiro talked about growth of Vegas and headquarters there at some point,
06:59but not moving soon, and no definite plan.
07:02WrestleVotes, however, stuck to their original report, following up with…
07:06I've reached back out to the source after the follow-up from Sean Ross Sapp.
07:09They are still confident in our initial report about Vegas.
07:12I'm told also this is not an overnight thing, and could take some time.
07:17So in the end, time will tell.
07:20Wrestling legend Sid Vicious sadly died on the 25th August, and now his son Gunner has
07:24provided more details on his father's passing.
07:27He was known as Psycho Sid Vicious to the world, but to our family, he was simply Poppa,
07:32the beloved grandfather.
07:34Sid was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2016, and actual fibrillation, better known
07:39as AFib, around the same time.
07:41He was also given a pacemaker.
07:43In April 2021, he was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which was linked
07:48to Roundup Weed Killer.
07:49Although he never told anyone about his fight against cancer, Sid lived his life to the
07:54fullest, attending the gym, boxing classes, making appearances for his fans, and, of course,
08:00t-ball games for the kids.
08:02He passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination.
08:07I've never met anyone with a fraction of the strength as my father.
08:10He truly was one of a kind.
08:13Thanks everyone for the uplifting words and love.
08:15We definitely feel it.
08:16We have received thousands of messages and are grateful for every one of them.
08:20I don't have time to reply, but I have read them all.
08:26Thank you."
08:27Showing what a generous soul Sid was behind the Psycho character, Booker T has shared
08:31a story about how it was Vicious who got him and his brother Stevie Ray their breaks in
08:35at WCW, where he even let them stay at his apartment while they were finding their feet.
08:40It was the anniversary of another wrestling legend's passing over the weekend, Bray
08:44Wyatt.
08:45Remember his legacy by watching our Tortured Genius of Bray Wyatt video essay now.
08:50Here's a clip.
08:52Across multiple characters, Bray told us that he was this charismatic cult leader, an unstoppable
08:57monster, a sympathetic but unhinged victim of some past trauma, and audiences bought
09:03into that, despite the booking, despite the maggots, despite the vast amounts of mystery
09:09in a medium that thrives on the obvious.
09:12Bray swept us up in the palm of his hands, and even now we are still following the breadcrumb
09:16trail and finding out how deep the rabbit hole can go.
09:20This is the legacy of Bray Wyatt.
