00:00Hello, everyone. Neil Tappan here from Golf Monthly, and welcome to this video in which
00:03we're going to take a look at how you repair a pitchmark correctly. Now, we all want to
00:08play golf courses that are in perfect condition, so we all need to do our part to keep the
00:12greens in good condition and to repair our pitchmarks. There are ways of repairing pitchmarks
00:17that will enable the blemish on the green to recover that much quicker. There are ways
00:22to repair them that will cause that blemish to continue longer into time, so it's worth
00:27thinking about. Now, the way in which you do not repair a pitchmark is as follows.
00:31I've got a pitchmark in front of me. The ball's coming from this direction. The way in which
00:34you don't repair it is you don't put the pitchmark repair in and then pull back and lift up the
00:40middle of the pitchmark. That leaves you with that blemish that you're looking to avoid.
00:43Instead, what you want to do is go to the back of the pitchmark here and pull the grass
00:49in towards the middle. Do it from the side. Do it from all the way around. Pull it in
01:00like so, and then give it a good tap down. I think if you do it properly, then you should
01:07end up with something like this. This is where that pitchmark was. Now, you'd be struggling
01:10to see it at all. There's a small mark there, but that should recover in half the time.
01:16It doesn't leave you with that big blemish on the green that can last for a very long
01:20time indeed. When it comes to repairing pitchmarks, pull in from the back of the pitchmark towards
01:26the center. Pull the grass over the top, and that should do the trick.
