00:00In Hot Town right now, it's hot as Haiti. It's 100 degrees. It's going to be steamy
00:08ass morsels for the tour championship. How is that going to affect this tournament this
00:15weekend? I mean, it's just brutal heat. We saw it in in Memphis. I saw them golf and
00:21then they were dying.
00:22Oh, I mean, I was there too. I mean, Carver on Golf Wednesday, he had to resuscitate me.
00:28It was it was so hot and it's equally as hot now. You know, this tie, it's it's choking
00:33me out, but that's all right. I do it for the folks at SportsGrid. And here's what's
00:36going to happen. We are down at East Lake Golf Club. It's the tour championship. Thirty
00:41players and they start with strokes. I know it's something new and everything, but forget
00:45all that for a second. They've completely redone the golf course and with the heat and
00:48the humidity and redoing an entire golf course, removing all the grass and bringing it back.
00:54What happens, folks, is that without any rain, it becomes a very, very firm surface.
00:58So what we're looking for this week, if you're building out your own betting card, is you're
01:01looking for guys that can hit the fairway because if you don't hit the fairway and you're
01:04in that Bermuda grass rough, you have no chance of holding these greens on approach.
01:09Once you're in the fairway, you're trying to hit these greens. Now, the new greens,
01:12they are super, super firm. They are like a brick. So a lot of the even good shots are
01:16going to roll through the green. So as you build out those betting cards and you'll see
01:20by who I've picked that you have to have guys that have a little bit of acumen around
01:24the green. That's a fancy thing for saying, hey, you got to save par or score with that
01:28short game.
01:29And this Bermuda grass, it's super grainy down here. It's a weed. You got to be able
01:32to putt on it, which is why I have two guys selected. Now, there's two types of tournaments
01:37this week. The first one is the FedEx Cup. That is the guy that wins everything. Twenty-five
01:40million dollars for first. And that includes the starting strokes. I'm taking Xander Shoffley
01:44for that. Yes, I know. I know. I'm giving up two strokes to Scottie Scheffler, but his
01:48form hasn't nearly been as strong as Xander. And Xander loves this place. He's been here
01:53seven times and he's been the low gross player three times with a win. He's never finished
01:58worse than seventh. You got to bank on him now on the other tournament, the shadow tournament,
02:03they call it where everyone starts at even par.
02:06There's two guys I like. Xander's one of them. I'm going there again. I am just pushing the
02:09chips in on him because he loves this place and because with the firmness of the greens,
02:14he is the best scrambler in the world. He's still going to continue to score. The other
02:19guy further down the board, Sam Bermuda Burns, plus twenty-two hundred back, back in Minnesota
02:25in the 3M. He finishes 13th. Then all of a sudden he gets in the playoffs. St. Jude at
02:31the Hey Jude, he goes fifth place. Bermuda grass, greens, Bermuda burns, cashes in, make
02:36some birdies. Then last week in Denver, runner up out there at Castle Pines in the BMW guy
02:42runs off with an X7. I mean, he's runner up. Fantastic. I love him coming into this place.
02:47He was fourth here last year. Those are my outright picks.
