00:00It was around 12.15 here at Cessnock Airport in the NSW Hunter Valley where a single engine
00:08plane got into trouble amid windy conditions we're told and misjudged the landing and ended
00:15up skidding into the fence behind me.
00:18You can see the single engine plane coming to rest along this fence and now temporary
00:24fencing around it.
00:26We're told that the pilot, a man in his 50s, suffered injuries to his shoulder as well
00:32as chest and has been taken to hospital for some observation but the passenger was uninjured.
00:39Now the local mayor here, Jay Suval, told us that really this was a good outcome, a
00:45lucky outcome for the people on board.
00:48This is a bit of what he had to say.
00:50It's great to hear that there hasn't been any serious injuries received from the accident
00:55earlier today.
00:57My thoughts are with the people involved and I hope they're going okay.
01:02But I do want to thank the airport staff and first responders for getting here and being
01:08available to take action so quickly.
01:10Now Cessnock Airport says in addition to emergency crews responding here today it's alerted the
01:17Australian Transport Safety Bureau which will have a look at this incident and airport operations
