00:00But if you're flying to your destination for Labor Day, well then you'll want to be prepared for
00:05flight delays and cancellations. Back here, there's Emmy Victor is live for us at Chicago
00:10Midway International Airport. She has some tips for travelers as we head into the holiday weekend.
00:17Well, Ari, here in Chicago, it's going to be a mild and sunny Labor Day weekend for the most
00:22part here, but that isn't going to be the case everywhere. With rain expected in parts of the
00:28Northeast and the Southeast at times, you're going to want to be prepared for flight delays
00:33and cancellations if you're flying to and through those regions. Before you head to the airport,
00:39use the AccuWeather app and check the forecast for where you are and where you're heading,
00:44and if you have a layover, check the weather for that area too. Because even if the conditions are
00:48clear where you are, your plane may not get to you on time if it's pouring somewhere else.
00:54If you find yourself either rebooked by your airline or wanting to switch flights because of
00:58the weather, act quickly. And ideally, you want to be as quick as possible in trying to get
01:04reaccommodated on a different flight. Demand is really up for travel this summer, so flights are
01:10going to be full. It may be challenging to get rebooked, especially if you're traveling with a
01:14large group or a large family. Well, signing up to get text or app alerts from your airline can
01:22help you find out if your flight is delayed or canceled in real time. And it's also helpful to
01:28pack as light as you can. Using a carry-on will help switching flights a bit easier. It'll really
01:34help make those flight switches a bit easier. But also, sneak in an umbrella if you can,
01:39especially if you're traveling to an area where it's expected to rain. It's important to have
01:43that with you. Ari? All right, Emmy. Important reminders there ahead of a very busy Labor Day
01:48travel period. Thanks so much, and we'll talk to you later.
