No closer to Papua New Guinea NRL kick off: Albanese

00:00We need to engage with Papua New Guinea and there's no better way of doing it than through that.

00:08So I'm hopeful that in the coming period we'll be able to make a constructive announcement.

00:16And so how many when would it end the competition?

00:19Well that will be part of the announcement. That's one of the things that's being discussed

00:24because it's about making sure that it is a success as well.

00:28So you don't make an announcement and then go in straight away.

00:32So new rugby league teams, the Dolphins had a couple of years to prepare.

00:38PNG have considered it at the highest level, their cabinet level as well,

00:44about how they would create incentives for elite players to go and be a part of

00:52any inaugural team that's there.
