00:00Hello and welcome to the Scotsman's Daily Bulletin for Friday. I'm Alan Young on deck
00:06to the Scotsman. I'm joined today on transfer deadline day. It's like the Christmas day
00:12for the sports desk by our sports editor Mark Hackson. Hi Mark.
00:16Good morning Alan, how are you doing?
00:18Not bad. We'll find out what's in your stocking later. Let's have a look at the front page.
00:27We lead today on an exclusive from our transport correspondent Alistair Dalton and this is
00:31around a trial of AI to set parking charges at Edinburgh airport which is causing quite
00:40some concern. Passengers finding they are getting completely random prices. A parking
00:47charge lottery indeed. We also in today's paper preview the SNP conference which is
00:54kicking off in Edinburgh today. Full coverage at Scotsman.com and of course we have all
01:01the very latest build up to transfer deadline day which is now here Mark. So it feels like
01:10this time round it's a bit more exciting than it has been the last couple of times. What
01:15should we be looking out for?
01:18Yeah it's a busy window. The reason why it's more exciting is that both Celtic and Rangers
01:24are very active going into the final hours of it. In previous windows you would see that
01:30Celtic in particular have got their business done early. But because Matt O'Reilly has
01:34left for a lot of money, Celtic are looking to spend. So on that front they'll be the
01:40ones that spend the most money and probably do the most eye catching business. They hope
01:44to conclude a deal for 20 year old Belgium internationalist Arne Engels from Augsburg.
01:51The fee is mooted to be around ÂŁ10 million which would be a record for a Scottish club.
01:56He essentially is the replacement for Matt O'Reilly. And they are also looking to sign
02:00Austin Trusty, an American defender from Sheffield United for around ÂŁ6 million. So a lot of
02:05money coming out the way at Celtic but they do have plenty in reserve. Rangers, not quite
02:10the same war chest but they are looking to be busy both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
02:16A new defender from Feyenoord was linked this morning and there's been so many players put
02:23towards Rangers. You could have a very strong list of potential signings there. They will
02:28get players in but a lot of it depends on whether Todd Cantwell and Yanis Hadji for
02:33example leave. So that's making it very busy. And then you've got business happening at
02:37Hibs as well. They are looking to bring in a number of players. Luke McCown from Dundee
02:41is their main target. And I would imagine most clubs in the premiership will be active
02:46with the exception possibly of Hearts who say that their business is more or less done.
02:52The concern for all sports desks is that this goes right to the wire. The deadline is an
02:56hour earlier this time around, 11pm rather than midnight. So it's going to be a real
03:02scramble for certain clubs to get deals over the line. I would expect if you're a Hibs
03:07Celtic or Rangers fan, this is a day for you. I would say. Lots going on at those clubs.
03:13Great. And we do have a live blog running at scottsman.com where we're covering every
03:18development as it happens. Just to add a bit of extra spice, we've got an old Firm derby
03:26coming out this weekend.
03:28Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you talk about it being Christmas. It feels like it's Christmas, Easter
03:32and Thanksgiving all rolled into one today. We've got the old Firm derby on Sunday, first
03:36one of the season. Celtic against the Rangers. If Celtic win, they go five points clear of
03:41Rangers. Already, that's quite a sizeable gap, given that Celtic have looked pretty
03:46impervious so far. Early days yet. I'm not going to say that if Celtic win, the league
03:50has done far from it, but it will put a lot of pressure on Philippe Clement if they don't
03:54win, given that he's yet to taste success in this derby. Both managers speaking over
04:00the weekend, Rangers have put their press conference back by 24 hours. I think that's
04:04to give Clement breathing space to get all his transfer business done. It'll be fascinating
04:08to hear from him tomorrow. He's been very vocal about what he wants to do at Rangers
04:12this summer. I think a damaging result at Celtic Park will set him back in the eyes
04:17of the fans. There's no question about that. And we also have European draws today. So
04:21we found out Celtic's champions the opponents yesterday. They got quite a kind draw. Rangers
04:26and Hearts will find out their Europa League and Europa Conference League draws respectively
04:31this lunchtime. So we have a lot going on in the football world. It's an exciting time
04:36here at Football Fandom. In particular, I think that for those two European clubs, they'll
04:40be delighted to be involved in the group stage football. And there could be some really juicy
04:44Battle of Britain ties. Rangers could face a British team, as could Hearts. Hearts could
04:50play Chelsea, which would be quite a nice tie if that comes off. So lots to look forward
04:55to the next 24 hours. That's for sure.
04:58Fantastic. I'll let you get back to it. Really busy day. Thanks very much, Mark. Please keep
05:02an eye on scottsman.com throughout the day for all the very latest news, transfer related

05:17me and from Mark. It's bye for now.
