00:00:00Hey! Hey, you guys! Small world, huh? Sky!
00:00:18GNN camera operator Sky Bennett. Last seen being taken into custody.
00:00:24What happened?
00:00:25Well, let's see. First it took my camera.
00:00:29And then it tried to roll it. Yeah, right.
00:00:42No, no, no. Stay away.
00:00:44Our GNN camera operator has just been shot by a security robot.
00:00:49This is an unbelievable development.
00:00:55It's alright.
00:00:57It's alright, honey. I got you. I got you.
00:01:05It's alright. Come on, look at me. Just stay with me, honey. Stay.
00:01:11What? What just happened?
00:01:16It appears we have lost the signal from Newtown.
00:01:22It's too late.
00:01:23Our last live image, that of correspondent Christiane Nouveau,
00:01:29surrounded by robots, holding the mortally wounded body of her camera operator.
00:01:36For those of you that pray, this would be a good time.
00:01:41What are you doing? We need help!
00:01:44This is an emergency! We need a doctor!
00:01:47Come on, look at me. Just stay with me, honey. Stay with me.
00:01:49Just stay with me.
00:01:52Get up.
00:01:55We have to go right now.
00:02:09Dammit!
00:02:11It's a satellite.
00:02:12A satellite?
00:02:13There's nothing we can do.
00:02:14He did it. That son of a bitch actually did it.
00:02:20That's what I call influence.
00:02:22We have to get them out.
00:02:24Tell me something I don't know.
00:02:26What do you mean it's not just Newtown?
00:02:29It's the platforms. The birds are going berserk. They're killing everyone.
00:02:34We can't pull the plug.
00:02:41Gordon?
00:02:42Gordon?
00:02:44Well, what are you standing around for? We've got robots to kill! Move!
00:02:59Oh my God, I killed her!
00:03:00Danny?
00:03:01I killed her!
00:03:02Danny, I know.
00:03:03This guy's dead!
00:03:04I know, I know, but you can't do this now!
00:03:05What the hell just happened?
00:03:06Don't. Just don't.
00:03:08Okay.
00:03:09Look at me and breathe.
00:03:12Breathe.
00:03:14Okay.
00:03:15Okay.
00:03:17Okay.
00:03:18Okay.
00:03:20Okay.
00:03:23You still want to take Winston's home with you?
00:03:28Okay.
00:03:31What is going on here?
00:03:33There's a short circuit!
00:03:34Yeah.
00:03:35Meltdown!
00:03:36Robot revolution!
00:03:38All I know is stay away from the freaking robots!
00:03:42Jason.
00:03:44Jason, can you hear me, Jason?
00:03:46No, it's Danny.
00:03:48They must have taken out the uplink.
00:03:50What is going on?
00:03:52Well, hey, it's just what you wanted, right?
00:03:54A little time apart?
00:03:55Danny, what are you talking about?
00:04:13My God.
00:04:20Oh, my phone. I forgot.
00:04:22Oh, Jason.
00:04:24Oh, thank God.
00:04:26You all right?
00:04:28Yeah, Danny and I are okay, but Sky...
00:04:31I know.
00:04:32We saw everything.
00:04:34The robots are going crazy.
00:04:35They're killing people.
00:04:36More people?
00:04:37They're chasing them down in the street.
00:04:39All right, listen to me.
00:04:40As soon as we hang up, you call the New York desk.
00:04:42New York?
00:04:43The satellite's down.
00:04:45Use your phone.
00:04:46Keep reporting.
00:04:47You hear me?
00:04:48Even if you have to do it hiding under a table.
00:04:50Work for Bernie Shaw.
00:04:52All right, I got it.
00:04:55Jason, we might not get out of here.
00:04:59Don't say that.
00:05:01It's just...
00:05:03This is insane.
00:05:05I know.
00:05:07Why aren't you here?
00:05:09Why aren't you here?
00:05:12It's what you wanted.
00:05:14I know, I know.
00:05:15But why did you pick this time to listen to me?
00:05:18I'll never do it again.
00:05:19I promise.
00:05:21Now, put Danny on the phone.
00:05:24Danny?
00:05:25We're wasting time.
00:05:27He wants to talk to you.
00:05:31Yeah, Jason?
00:05:32Danny, this is me putting you on notice about Christiana.
00:05:35Hey, boss, I don't know what you heard, but I'm not interested in it.
00:05:38Will you shut up?
00:05:40I'm telling you to keep her safe, mate.
00:05:42That's your job now.
00:05:43Your only job.
00:05:45Keep her safe.
00:05:46You hear me?
00:05:47Yeah, totally.
00:05:49If anything happens to her...
00:05:50It won't.
00:05:51I swear.
00:05:52I will personally...
00:05:56Danny.
00:05:57Danny!
00:06:00Damn it!
00:06:09Oil platform.
00:06:17It's like the end of the world.
00:06:21Crossing the perimeter now.
00:06:26And I'm in the zone.
00:06:31Hey, are you guys getting this?
00:06:38Yeah.
00:06:54I'm about 1,500 meters in.
00:06:58Still nothing, guys.
00:07:01Hey, am I getting through?
00:07:04Yeah.
00:07:07Easy for you to say.
00:07:20Alright, I'm coming up on the blacktop here.
00:07:24Whoa.
00:07:29Yeah, I must be getting close.
00:07:53Oh.
00:08:04I got something.
00:08:06Oh.
00:08:08Oh, God.
00:08:10I found one.
00:08:13What?
00:08:15No, I don't understand.
00:08:16What'd you say?
00:08:18Wait.
00:08:19I think I see something.
00:08:24It looks like the Burt III.
00:08:28Oh.
00:08:29Oh, my God.
00:08:30Oh, my God.
00:08:54Oh, my God.
00:08:55Oh, my God.
00:08:56Oh, my God.
00:08:57Oh, my God.
00:08:58Oh, my God.
00:08:59Oh, my God.
00:09:00Oh, my God.
00:09:01Oh, my God.
00:09:02Oh, my God.
00:09:03Oh, my God.
00:09:04Oh, my God.
00:09:05Oh, my God.
00:09:06Oh, my God.
00:09:07Oh, my God.
00:09:08Oh, my God.
00:09:09Oh, my God.
00:09:10Oh, my God.
00:09:11Oh, my God.
00:09:12Oh, my God.
00:09:13Oh, my God.
00:09:14Oh, my God.
00:09:15Oh, my God.
00:09:16Oh, my God.
00:09:17Oh, my God.
00:09:18Oh, my God.
00:09:19Oh, my God.
00:09:20Oh, my God.
00:09:21Oh, my God.
00:09:23Hello, I'm Christiane Niveau.
00:09:26Today, we're broadcasting live from Newtown,
00:09:29an idyllic, privately owned community
00:09:32located on a small tropical island in the South China Sea.
00:09:36Newtown is owned by Mega National Industries,
00:09:40one of the largest private sector energy corporations in the world.
00:09:44It houses the thousands of employees and their families
00:09:48who make up the workforce of the world's biggest petrochemical platform,
00:09:53which is just about four miles that way.
00:09:57And for the past year, Newtown has also been the site of an amazing experiment.
00:10:02This is a place that isn't just looking to the future,
00:10:05it's already living in it.
00:10:07Here, robots have been integrated into the lives of the local community.
00:10:12That's right, I said robots.
00:10:14They are the public servants, the town police.
00:10:18They even work as medical technicians in the local hospital.
00:10:21This groundbreaking experiment has been a well-kept secret until now.
00:10:27We're the first film crew who's been allowed in to film these amazing robots in action.
00:10:32Now, all this might sound a little bit like science fiction to you.
00:10:36It did to me.
00:10:37But as we have discovered during these past few days,
00:10:40here in Newtown, science fiction is just a fact of everyday life.
00:10:47Why, thank you.
00:10:52I have to confess, I could get used to this.
00:10:55A1, go.
00:10:57Christian is clear.
00:11:03Right, let's get to the field.
00:11:06Moving.
00:11:08Thank you very much.
00:11:10Strong and silent, it's just my type.
00:11:12Oh, don't forget subservient.
00:11:15That too.
00:11:16How was it?
00:11:17Nothing less than perfection, darling.
00:11:23I think they'd let me take one home if I asked nicely.
00:11:26Never know when it might come in handy.
00:11:28Wait, speak up, ladies, I didn't quite get that.
00:11:31Sorry, Danny, girl talk.
00:11:32Boy, it sounded like girl on robot talk to me, and that's my kind of talk.
00:11:35You have a terrible imagination, you know that?
00:11:38Yeah, yeah, I must have misheard.
00:11:40Besides, I mean, where did you keep it?
00:11:41Oh, I've got room.
00:11:45The sprawling MNI platform is the largest of its kind in the world.
00:11:49Its many oil rigs, refining facilities, and chemical plants
00:11:53stretch for miles across the sea.
00:11:56This behemoth of traditional industry
00:11:59seems an unlikely incubator for the leading-edge technology of robotics.
00:12:03But it's here where MNI implemented phase one of their robot trials,
00:12:08putting mechanical workers alongside human ones.
00:12:12Well, uh, work hard, uh, never get tired,
00:12:16and, uh, well, they're damn hard to beat at cards.
00:12:22Jason?
00:12:24Yes, Lisa?
00:12:26What are you doing here?
00:12:28Uh, you mean, why am I here looking over your shoulder
00:12:31and not on location with the others?
00:12:34Pretty much.
00:12:37I can handle it.
00:12:39Yeah, you can.
00:12:40Then why did you come back?
00:12:43Um, because they can handle it.
00:12:52Light rail transportation carries workers
00:12:54between the high-security platforms and Newtown.
00:12:57This is where MNI started phase two of the robot trials.
00:13:01It was one thing to keep robots in a tightly controlled work environment,
00:13:05but what would happen when they were introduced into a normal community,
00:13:09with all its confusion and unpredictability?
00:13:13I love it.
00:13:14It's, like, totally awesome.
00:13:16Come on, robots.
00:13:17Doesn't get better than that, right?
00:13:19Terrible.
00:13:20Here he comes.
00:13:21He keeps changing everything around.
00:13:23The candy, the chips, uh, the gum.
00:13:27I didn't like it one bit.
00:13:30And now?
00:13:32And now we understand each other.
00:13:35Robots collect the garbage in Newtown.
00:13:39Robots stand security.
00:13:43Robots even walk children to school.
00:13:47So do you like the robots?
00:13:48Yeah!
00:13:50What do you like about it?
00:13:52They're nice.
00:13:53They're fun.
00:13:54They're awesome.
00:13:55Awesome?
00:13:56I love it.
00:13:57I want a million, billion, trillion robots.
00:14:00That's a lot of robots.
00:14:01What does the robot have a name?
00:14:03Robot.
00:14:04Robot.
00:14:05Great name.
00:14:06If the petroleum industry seems an unlikely birthplace for a robotics revolution,
00:14:11well, it might have something to do with the unlikely man responsible.
00:14:17Robots.
00:14:18Robots.
00:14:20Why?
00:14:22Every boy loves robots.
00:14:24Especially you.
00:14:25Especially me.
00:14:26Does that mean you're still a boy at heart?
00:14:28Yes, I like to think so.
00:14:30This is Gordon Standish.
00:14:32He's currently ranked number two on the Forbes World's Richest People list.
00:14:37He's the owner and CEO of Mega National Industries,
00:14:41a family business he inherited and made into a global empire.
00:14:45He rarely makes public appearances or gives interviews.
00:14:50Gordon Standish also happens to have a doctorate in mechanical engineering from MIT.
00:14:55He helped design the Newtown Basic Utility Robots, or BERTs as they're called.
00:15:01Want to see some robots?
00:15:03Yes.
00:15:04This is the BERT 3.
00:15:05Wow.
00:15:06BERT 2.
00:15:07A few of these are still operating on the platforms.
00:15:10That one looks like a shop vac.
00:15:12I think it is.
00:15:14I'll be cleaning up when we're done here.
00:15:16You know, I'm having a really hard time thinking of you as a powerful oil man.
00:15:20Because I'm not Arabic enough?
00:15:22Maybe you're just too much robot geek.
00:15:25I mean, you are, aren't you? You're a geek.
00:15:27Ah, Christiane, don't you know we run the world?
00:15:31Oh.
00:15:34Phase one, robots in the refinery.
00:15:36Phase two, robots in Newtown.
00:15:39Phase three.
00:15:41Robots everywhere.
00:15:44Our robots will be made commercially available to anyone who wants to buy one.
00:15:49Is that realistic? I mean, they must be astronomically expensive.
00:15:53Yes, but that's why in the beginning we'll subsidize them.
00:15:56That sounds like you're saying you'll be giving robots away.
00:15:59I mean, I'm not a billionaire genius sitting here, but is that good business?
00:16:03It is if you want to create a demand.
00:16:05I mean, eventually everyone will pay for our robots and the costs will go down.
00:16:09This is not about business, is it?
00:16:12No.
00:16:16For Gordon Standish, it's about making the world a better place.
00:16:20And if that sounds improbable coming from an oil giant, you haven't been paying attention.
00:16:25Is he an idealist?
00:16:27Definitely, but he can afford to be.
00:16:29Dr. Tobin Orloff has worked with Standish since their days at MIT.
00:16:34Is he going to change the world?
00:16:38With a little help from his friends.
00:16:40They're not here to serve us.
00:16:42They're here so that we can become better custodians of our planet.
00:16:46Now that sounds like a slogan on a billboard.
00:16:50Isn't it all a little too easy?
00:16:52I mean, you must have had problems along the way, accidents.
00:16:56We've banged down a few doors in more ways than one.
00:16:59Anything serious?
00:17:00No.
00:17:01So the robots are safe?
00:17:02Perfectly.
00:17:03You trust them with your life?
00:17:04Yes.
00:17:05Your children?
00:17:06Absolutely.
00:17:08Do you have one at home?
00:17:10Well, I'm not in any one place long enough.
00:17:15Badaboom!
00:17:17Well, that on your signboard, the patron saint of robots, doesn't have one.
00:17:21Cameras stand by.
00:17:22Denny on the talons, Skye on the field.
00:17:33Hey.
00:17:34Just checking the scores back home.
00:17:35Before real football, you know where the balls are pointy?
00:17:37Like you're...
00:17:38Nah, you wouldn't know.
00:17:41Look, I'm telling you they split up.
00:17:43Why else would our producer leave in the middle of the night?
00:17:45Okay, Danny, look.
00:17:47Even if they split up, she's never going to go out with you.
00:17:50It's not going to happen.
00:17:52Never say never.
00:17:54That was cameras, stand by.
00:17:57Christian, stand by.
00:17:59Four, three, two, you're on.
00:18:03As you can see, there's a friendly game of soccer going on behind me.
00:18:07If you look closely, you might notice something different about one of the players.
00:18:18If there is any one image Gordon Stanis wants us to take away from this story, this is it.
00:18:24Robots and humans, working together, playing together.
00:18:28Robots not as our servants, but as our companions.
00:18:31That's the future he promises for all of us.
00:18:34Now, in a few minutes, I'm going to bring in some experts to discuss the Newtown experiment.
00:18:39But first, we thought it'd be fun, or more likely embarrassing, to have me go into the field and play a game with the robot.
00:18:46Holly!
00:18:47Oh my God!
00:18:48What?
00:18:49Chris, behind you.
00:18:50The robot just shot one of the players.
00:18:52Alright, um, I'm being told that the robot has just shot a man on the field.
00:18:57I didn't see it myself.
00:19:00Obviously, something terrible has happened. People are panicked. They're running.
00:19:05Tell me about the robot.
00:19:07There it is. The robot.
00:19:11It's not making any threatening moves. It's just standing there.
00:19:15Over what we can now clearly see is a man.
00:19:18Is he alive or dead?
00:19:20The man is not moving. We do not know whether he's alive or dead.
00:19:23Just moments ago, he was playing a game with the robot.
00:19:26What's it doing?
00:19:29Skye, zoom in.
00:19:42I can see blood now.
00:19:44Jason.
00:19:46Is it malfunctioning?
00:19:48At this point, we have to wonder whether the robot is malfunctioning and whether or not it poses a threat to anyone else.
00:19:54Show me the body.
00:19:56Jason.
00:19:57We don't know yet if help is on the way.
00:19:59Where's the replay?
00:20:02Got it. Ready.
00:20:05Chris, we're going to replay.
00:20:07Okay. We're going to take another look at what just happened.
00:20:10I have to caution you. This may be disturbing.
00:20:13Chris, you're clear.
00:20:16Jason, going over.
00:20:18I know you are. Just watch your step, eh?
00:20:28Get the clip of all off with the hands and the guns ready.
00:20:31I'm watching it right now with a few million of my friends around the world.
00:20:35Yes.
00:20:37That's right.
00:20:39I want to know right now. You understand?
00:20:43Depending upon the task, external devices can be attached and controlled here without having to remove the arm.
00:20:50It's actually guns and the security bots.
00:20:53Ah, hell.
00:20:56Three, two, you're on.
00:21:00We're just going to check on the wounded man.
00:21:13Stop.
00:21:17The robot moving toward us now.
00:21:26Stop.
00:21:37It didn't even acknowledge we're here. Got my heart racing, I can tell you.
00:21:49I can see...
00:21:52Oh.
00:21:54There is a large hole in the man's chest.
00:21:59No one could have survived.
00:22:02We don't know why, but now there is no doubt that a man has died here today at the hands of a robot.
00:22:10The robot's gone.
00:22:12The robot has left the field.
00:22:14We don't know where it is.
00:22:16We don't know where it is. Just minutes ago we saw it heading toward the housing blocks near the field.
00:22:21Thousands of people living in those blocks alone. A killer walking among them as we speak.
00:22:28Hold on the buildings.
00:22:30Stay quiet.
00:22:33Back on Chris.
00:22:36Everything's changed.
00:22:38Obviously this incident changes everything we thought we'd seen here in Newtown.
00:22:42Cobbler.
00:22:47Understood.
00:22:50The guy's dead.
00:22:52They just showed it on the air.
00:22:54Ah, of course they did.
00:22:56No doubt complete with close-ups of blood seeping into the ground.
00:23:00Our nightmare is their dream come true.
00:23:03We have to contain it, Luther. Here and in Newtown.
00:23:07Yes.
00:23:17Skye.
00:23:20Are you alright?
00:23:28I need you to keep the camera up, honey. We're on the air.
00:23:35Some of the players are now heading back onto the field.
00:23:39Checking on their friend. I'll try to get a word with somebody.
00:23:43Guys, we're getting sun. Watch your irises.
00:23:47Excuse me.
00:23:49Did anyone see what happened? I'd like to talk to you.
00:23:53You saw it? Tell me what happened.
00:23:58It just shot him.
00:23:59Why did it shoot him?
00:24:00Don't know.
00:24:01Did you get any warning?
00:24:03Did the robot say anything?
00:24:06He was just yelling at the robot, that's all.
00:24:08I knew this would happen.
00:24:09Why do you say that?
00:24:11Those things, they shouldn't even be here.
00:24:14The robots, is that what you mean?
00:24:16Did the robot act strangely before it happened?
00:24:19We told them no bots, yeah?
00:24:21No bots. No bots. No bots. No bots.
00:24:30Obviously tension is melting here in Newtown.
00:24:35No, you've got to give us the hour.
00:24:37Look, are you seeing what I'm seeing?
00:24:39That is an angry mob there. They could do anything.
00:24:41They could go after the robot, they could...
00:24:43Brooks!
00:24:45Okay, things are about to get more interesting.
00:24:48I promise, keep watching.
00:24:50Zack, get a camera, get it on Standish now.
00:24:53Me?
00:24:54You can do it.
00:24:56Gordon!
00:24:57Stop the broadcast now.
00:24:58Yeah, sorry mate, I can't do that.
00:25:01Like hell you can't.
00:25:02It's the network's call, not mine.
00:25:05Maybe you've forgotten where you are, Mr. Brooks.
00:25:08This is my house.
00:25:09And we do appreciate the hospitality.
00:25:13I had my pick of anyone to do this story.
00:25:15Yes, you did, and you chose us because you wanted a serious report.
00:25:19And like it or not, that's what you're getting.
00:25:22Cut the feed, or we will cut it for you.
00:25:29Right.
00:25:30Here's how this works.
00:25:32The Newtown feed is bouncing off a satellite and landing in New York and London.
00:25:37You can't kill it.
00:25:39If you want to kill the broadcast, you have to kill the satellite.
00:25:43Or the reporter.
00:25:45I'm sorry, Mr. Standish, it sounded like you just threatened my reporter.
00:25:50That's absurd.
00:25:51You threatened her because you want this broadcast shut down.
00:25:54Isn't that correct?
00:25:55You really got...
00:25:56Our only concern is for the situation in Newtown.
00:25:59Has anything like this happened before?
00:26:01We don't know what happened.
00:26:02One of your robots killed a man.
00:26:04We all saw it.
00:26:05It may not be that simplistic.
00:26:06There'll be an investigation.
00:26:08But right now, the killbot is on the loose.
00:26:11Killbot?
00:26:13Where is it?
00:26:14Security's handling it.
00:26:15You mean more robots?
00:26:16Yes, yes, more robots.
00:26:18If a man commits murder, are all men suddenly implicated?
00:26:22Murder?
00:26:23You mean this could have been premeditated.
00:26:25Is that what you're saying?
00:26:26No.
00:26:28It was an unfortunate accident.
00:26:30I don't have time for this excuse.
00:26:35Oh.
00:26:42Oh, boo yeah!
00:26:44Okay, guys.
00:26:45This could get hot.
00:26:47Hotter?
00:26:49For us.
00:26:50Understand?
00:26:54Okay.
00:26:56Let's get rid of them.
00:26:57And give them something else for the cameras.
00:26:58It's too late.
00:27:00I mean on the island.
00:27:03Not that.
00:27:04I mean, no more cameras.
00:27:06The damage is already done.
00:27:08Our only hope is to offset it as much as possible.
00:27:11I'm listening.
00:27:13Give the cameras another body.
00:27:16A body?
00:27:17The Bert?
00:27:19And Luther.
00:27:20It has to be borne by other robots.
00:27:22Make sure of it.
00:27:23I understand.
00:27:35This is a GNN breaking news story.
00:27:38I'm Ben Candliss.
00:27:40For those of you just joining us,
00:27:42only minutes ago, during the live broadcast of Nouveau Reports,
00:27:46a highly sophisticated robot featured in the program
00:27:50shot and killed a man while the cameras were rolling.
00:27:53Christiane Nouveau is still at the scene.
00:27:55Before we turn to her,
00:27:57I'd like to invite you to join me in welcoming
00:28:01Christiane Nouveau is still at the scene.
00:28:03Before we turn to her,
00:28:04let's take a look at the incident as it happened just minutes ago.
00:28:09But first, we thought it'd be fun,
00:28:11or more likely embarrassing,
00:28:13to have me go into the field and play a game with the robot
00:28:16just to see how good my...
00:28:19What?
00:28:24What the hell is going on? Why is Ben on the desk?
00:28:27New York made the call.
00:28:28Our show, Jason. Our story.
00:28:30What, they don't trust me with it?
00:28:32Will you slow down a minute?
00:28:34Which, by the way, is more time than we've got.
00:28:36Don't you get it?
00:28:37We just got supersized.
00:28:39The other nets are already picking it up,
00:28:41but we're the only ones who've got it,
00:28:43and I'm still running things from here.
00:28:45Okay, good.
00:28:46It's all yours.
00:28:47Right. Sorry. It's just...
00:28:49It's a little intense out here.
00:28:51Don't be sorry. Just keep being brilliant.
00:28:53Hey, what about us, boss? Aren't we brilliant?
00:28:55Oh, Danny.
00:28:57You're the most brilliant of all.
00:28:59Hey.
00:29:00Except Skye.
00:29:02Hate to interrupt the love fest, guys.
00:29:05Christiane, stand by for Ben.
00:29:09And three, two...
00:29:12Christiane, what can you tell us?
00:29:15Well, Ben, it's all happened very fast.
00:29:18As you know, we didn't get any warning.
00:29:20So far, there's been no sign of a security presence.
00:29:23The people here, the friends and co-workers of the dead man,
00:29:26are confused and in shock.
00:29:28You can see they've covered the body.
00:29:30If this hadn't have happened,
00:29:32I was actually supposed to go onto the field
00:29:34to play kickball with the robot.
00:29:36Do you know where the killbot is right now?
00:29:38Uh, no, we don't.
00:29:40Do you still believe that it could be dangerous?
00:29:42Well, that is the question. I think we have to assume it is.
00:29:45Ben, they all look the same.
00:29:47You can't tell these robots apart, can you?
00:29:50Well, they're all identical models,
00:29:52but there are some variations in color
00:29:54depending on what they do, like security or engineering.
00:29:57So if a security robot were to approach you
00:30:01or anyone in Newtown right now,
00:30:03it would be impossible to know whether it was the killbot?
00:30:06No, uh, not if, uh, it had wiped off the blood.
00:30:10Christiane Niveau, are you concerned for your safety?
00:30:13Well, Ben, at this point, we're really just...
00:30:16Hey, look!
00:30:19Christiane?
00:30:22Uh, there's something happening.
00:30:24I'm just trying to see what it is.
00:30:26Is it the killbot?
00:30:29It's two robots.
00:30:31They're coming this way, and they're moving fast.
00:30:35Are they gunners?
00:30:36Chris, get out of there.
00:30:38Robot killers!
00:30:39Spread out!
00:30:43This is an emergency situation.
00:30:45For your safety, please stand clear.
00:30:49I don't know if you can hear that, Ben.
00:30:51Apparently, these robots are emergency responders.
00:30:54You can see the security colors on one,
00:30:56and there is a medical cross on the other.
00:31:01Yeah, that's right.
00:31:03I want him detained.
00:31:05No more filming until I say.
00:31:22Jason, what?
00:31:25I don't like it.
00:31:28It's security.
00:31:30You should be relieved.
00:31:32Oh, I'm relieved.
00:31:34You would rather them be with the killbot instead.
00:31:37You're right. You are absolutely right. I would.
00:31:40Ben, I need you to van for a minute. Don't care what.
00:31:43All right. A tense moment for everyone.
00:31:47Chris, Danny, I need you to get lost.
00:31:50What are you talking about?
00:31:52They're going to grab you.
00:32:05Skye, you stay.
00:32:07Stay? Why me?
00:32:09Because you're going hot.
00:32:11Don't worry. I'll be right there with you.
00:32:14We'll be fine.
00:32:20Okay.
00:32:34Okay.
00:32:46Have you caught the killbot?
00:32:48Do you know where it is?
00:32:50Do you know where it is?
00:32:53For your safety, please accompany me.
00:32:56Accompany you where?
00:32:59I'm pressed, you know.
00:33:01This is a live broadcast. Everybody is watching what you do.
00:33:04Good girl.
00:33:07Answer my question.
00:33:09What are you doing to find the killbot?
00:33:11For your safety, please accompany me.
00:33:14Say from what? I'm not in any danger, am I?
00:33:17Am I?
00:33:19Don't push it. Don't push it.
00:33:25This is a security directive.
00:33:28You will accompany me.
00:33:31Back down, Skye.
00:33:34Go with the robot.
00:33:37Okay.
00:33:44I'm all yours.
00:33:47Easy. Where are you taking me?
00:33:50You don't have a right to hold me.
00:33:53A Newtown security robot
00:33:55taking our GNN camera operator
00:33:58into what seems to be some kind of protective custody.
00:34:02We have no reason to believe she is in any specific danger.
00:34:05However, under the circumstances,
00:34:08less than 30 minutes ago, another robot killed a man.
00:34:11We can't help but feel apprehension at these developments.
00:34:16Turning now to an expert in the field.
00:34:19Dr. Roshan Manik,
00:34:21a professor of robotics at Carnegie Mellon.
00:34:24Dr. Manik,
00:34:26I dare say this is not the interview you were expecting.
00:34:29Right you are.
00:34:31Your reaction to the breaking story?
00:34:34I'm shocked. Stunned.
00:34:37Dr. Manik,
00:34:39have robots ever killed before?
00:34:42Of course, there have been accidents with industrial robots,
00:34:45but this is... this is something different.
00:34:48We may have just seen our first ever homicide by a robot.
00:34:53That suggests intent. Free will.
00:34:56Could these robots have free will, doctor?
00:35:00I hope not.
00:35:04Okay, I got it this time.
00:35:08Jack the Ripperbot.
00:35:09Danny, that is just...
00:35:10What, irresistible?
00:35:11It's awful.
00:35:12Oh, and I suppose Killbot's so much better?
00:35:14As a matter of fact, it is.
00:35:17Hey, boss.
00:35:18Now, if I'd been on my toes, I might have gone with Terrorbot.
00:35:21Lots of chewy contempo residents there.
00:35:24Guess I'm a bit rusty.
00:35:26You two blow, you know that?
00:35:28How's it look, Chris?
00:35:30Quiet.
00:35:31Son of the Killbot.
00:35:34Jason, I don't think these people have a clue.
00:35:37Okay, we know it's not shooting up anybody else... yet.
00:35:41Don't sound so disappointed.
00:35:43At least it's a step up from disappointing.
00:35:46I doubt that if you're the one getting shot.
00:35:48Then best to stay out of the crosshairs.
00:35:50Excellent advice.
00:35:52I aim to please.
00:35:55So whoever's doing the shooting,
00:35:56I just hope they don't hit any innocent bystanders.
00:35:59I'm just saying.
00:36:01I think you should check out the robot center.
00:36:03I've gone there.
00:36:04We're already on our way.
00:36:06Course you are.
00:36:07I'll keep Ben and Monique on for a few more.
00:36:10Hey, bogey ten o'clock.
00:36:19Chris.
00:36:21Danny.
00:36:23We're fine.
00:36:25It's just a little creepy out here.
00:36:27A little?
00:36:28Just get to the center.
00:36:34Cobra?
00:36:36Well, not yet.
00:36:39Why not?
00:36:41We're still looking for the bird.
00:36:43Looking?
00:36:44Birds can't get lost.
00:36:46This one is doing a very good job pretending.
00:36:49Is it still alive?
00:36:51We don't know.
00:36:53Well, use the kill switch!
00:36:55We tried, but...
00:36:57we don't know.
00:36:59Are you...
00:37:00Are you...
00:37:01Are you telling me that every single failsafe
00:37:03that could possibly go wrong with this robot has?
00:37:06Yeah.
00:37:07Maybe.
00:37:08We don't...
00:37:09Don't know!
00:37:10That's loud and clear!
00:37:11Damn it, Luther!
00:37:14What if we can't stop it?
00:37:20Dr. Monique, please stay with us.
00:37:23We're going back now to Christiane Nouveau,
00:37:25somewhere in Newtown,
00:37:26where only minutes earlier,
00:37:28her camera operator was taken into custody
00:37:30by a security robot.
00:37:32Christiane.
00:37:33Hello, Ben.
00:37:34Yes, we've just arrived at what is known
00:37:36simply as the Robot Center.
00:37:38Basically, it's an automated facility
00:37:40where robots are kept in service when off-duty.
00:37:43Do you think the Killbot is inside?
00:37:46Well, that's what we're here to find out.
00:37:48You could be putting yourself at considerable risk
00:37:50by going inside.
00:37:52I'd be lying if I said a SWAT team
00:37:54wouldn't make me feel better,
00:37:56but the Killbot left us alone once already.
00:37:58I think if it was going to do anything,
00:38:00it would have been then.
00:38:02Dr. Monique, do you agree with that reasoning?
00:38:04I'm afraid I don't.
00:38:06As far as we know, the first attack was unprovoked.
00:38:10In my opinion, all bets are off.
00:38:13Christiane, please be careful.
00:38:18Jason, don't. It's not worth it.
00:38:20You sure about that?
00:38:23You want to try stopping her?
00:38:25Be my guest.
00:38:33Excuse me.
00:38:35No one's allowed in here.
00:38:37Christiane Neveu, GNN.
00:38:39Okay.
00:38:40What's your name?
00:38:41Harlan.
00:38:42I'd like to ask you some questions, Harlan.
00:38:44What are you guys doing here?
00:38:46I'd like to ask you the same thing.
00:38:48Isn't this an automated facility?
00:38:50Yeah, sure it is most of the time,
00:38:52but we still need to do checks.
00:38:53In case something goes wrong.
00:38:55Yeah.
00:38:56Like today.
00:38:57Today?
00:38:58Don't you know?
00:38:59No, I don't know.
00:39:01One of your robots killed a man.
00:39:04Again.
00:39:05Again?
00:39:07Thank you!
00:39:11Harlan, what do you mean by again?
00:39:13Has this happened before?
00:39:15Where? When?
00:39:16No, I didn't...
00:39:17Harlan, did you not just say again?
00:39:19Have the robots killed anyone else?
00:39:21It's important, please.
00:39:23Please tell me.
00:39:27It's okay.
00:39:28I gotta go.
00:39:32So what is Harlan so afraid of?
00:39:36Exposing a cover-up?
00:39:38Or the robots?
00:39:41Do you know what this means?
00:39:43Not really.
00:39:45We own the news cycle!
00:39:48A MNI employee running away rather than face our questions.
00:39:53Christiane, it certainly seems to me that this isn't the first time
00:39:56that something has gone terribly wrong with these robots.
00:40:00Sure seems that way, Ben.
00:40:03We're going to continue inside.
00:40:11Boss?
00:40:12Boss?
00:40:17What?
00:40:18Sorry to have to call you, fellas.
00:40:20Yes, what is it?
00:40:22Well, we got a situation out here.
00:40:24I have a situation here, so get to it.
00:40:27Well, it's the robots.
00:40:29The robots?
00:40:31What about the robots?
00:40:33Well, that's it. It's hard to tell exactly.
00:40:36I mean, some of them have just gone...
00:40:43We are in the robot bay.
00:40:48A lot of robots here.
00:40:50Verts, as they call them.
00:40:52About twelve or so.
00:40:57They're not moving.
00:41:02Come on. Come on!
00:41:08A lot of security bots here.
00:41:12Come on.
00:41:31This one looks like it's in for servicing.
00:41:35Could that be it?
00:41:38I don't know.
00:41:43Hey! Hey, you guys!
00:41:46Small world, huh?
00:41:48Skye.
00:41:49GNN camera operator Skye Bennett.
00:41:52Last seen being taken into custody.
00:41:55What happened?
00:41:56Well, let's see.
00:41:58First, it took my camera.
00:42:00Hold.
00:42:01And then, it tried to rob...
00:42:02Hold.
00:42:03Yeah, right.
00:42:08No!
00:42:10No!
00:42:15No, no, no. Stay away.
00:42:17Our GNN camera operator has just been shot by a security robot.
00:42:22This is an unbelievable development.
00:42:28It's all right.
00:42:30It's all right. I got you.
00:42:32I got you.
00:42:34I got you.
00:42:40It's all right. Come on. Look at me.
00:42:42Just stay with me, honey. Stay with me.
00:42:45What?
00:42:47What just happened?
00:42:51It appears we have lost the signal from Newtown.
00:42:56It's too late.
00:42:58Our last live image,
00:43:01of correspondent Christiane Nouveau,
00:43:04surrounded by robots,
00:43:06holding the mortally wounded body of her camera operator.
00:43:10For those of you that pray,
00:43:13this would be a good time.
00:43:15What are you doing? We need help.
00:43:18This is an emergency. We need a doctor.
00:43:21Come on. Look at me. Just stay with me, honey. Stay with me.
00:43:26Get up.
00:43:28We have to go right now.
00:43:42Damn it!
00:43:44It's a satellite.
00:43:46A satellite?
00:43:47There's nothing we can do.
00:43:49He did it.
00:43:51That son of a bitch actually did it.
00:43:55That's what I call influence.
00:43:57We have to get them out.
00:43:59Tell me something I don't know.
00:44:01What do you mean it's not just Newtown?
00:44:04It's the platforms.
00:44:06The birds are going berserk. They're killing everyone.
00:44:09We can't pull the plug.
00:44:16Gordon?
00:44:18What are you standing around for? We've got robots to kill.
00:44:21Move!
00:44:28Oh, my God, I killed her.
00:44:30Danny, I know.
00:44:32This guy's dead.
00:44:34I know, but you can't do this now.
00:44:36What the hell just happened?
00:44:38Don't. Just don't.
00:44:40Look at me and breathe.
00:44:43Breathe.
00:44:45Okay.
00:44:47Okay.
00:44:49Okay.
00:44:51Okay.
00:44:53Okay.
00:44:56You still want to take Winston's home with you?
00:45:01Okay.
00:45:05What is going on here?
00:45:07It's a short circuit.
00:45:09Meltdown, robot revolution.
00:45:11All I know is stay away from the frigging robots.
00:45:15Jason.
00:45:17Jason, can you hear me, Jason?
00:45:19No, it's dead air.
00:45:21They must have taken out the uplink.
00:45:23What is going on?
00:45:25Well, hey, it's just what you wanted, right?
00:45:27A little time apart?
00:45:29Danny, what are you talking about?
00:45:47My God.
00:45:54Oh, my phone. I forgot.
00:45:56Oh, Jason.
00:45:58Oh, thank God.
00:46:00You all right?
00:46:02Yeah, Danny and I are okay, but Sky...
00:46:05I know.
00:46:07We saw everything.
00:46:09The robots are going crazy. They're killing people.
00:46:11More people.
00:46:13They're chasing them down in the street.
00:46:15All right, listen to me.
00:46:17As soon as we hang up, you call the New York desk.
00:46:19New York?
00:46:21And keep reporting, you hear me?
00:46:23Even if you have to do it hiding under a table.
00:46:25Worked for Bernie Shaw.
00:46:27All right, I got it.
00:46:29Jason, uh...
00:46:31we might not get out of here.
00:46:33Don't say that.
00:46:35It's just...
00:46:37this is insane.
00:46:39I know.
00:46:41Why aren't you here?
00:46:45It's what you wanted.
00:46:47I know, I know,
00:46:49but why did you pick this time to listen to me?
00:46:51I'll never do it again.
00:46:53I promise.
00:46:55Now, put Danny on the phone.
00:46:57Danny?
00:46:59We're wasting time.
00:47:01He wants to talk to you.
00:47:05Yeah, Jason?
00:47:07Danny, this is me putting you on notice about Christiana.
00:47:09Hey, boss, I don't know what you heard,
00:47:11but I'm not interested in it.
00:47:13Will you shut up?
00:47:15I'm telling you to keep her safe, mate.
00:47:17Your only job, keep her safe.
00:47:19You hear me?
00:47:21Yeah, totally.
00:47:23If anything happens to her...
00:47:25It won't.
00:47:27I swear, I will personally...
00:47:29Danny.
00:47:31Danny.
00:47:33Damn it!
00:47:35Oil platform.
00:47:45Oil platform.
00:47:53It's like the end of the world.
00:48:05Standish.
00:48:07Not now, Mr. Brooks.
00:48:09I want that satellite back online.
00:48:11I'm afraid I have more pressing matters.
00:48:13You really showed me, didn't you?
00:48:15You have a great big problem which you're not helping.
00:48:17There is a bloodbath in Newtown.
00:48:19Precisely my point.
00:48:21Don't let me call security.
00:48:23Totally.
00:48:27Standish.
00:48:31What?
00:48:35Emergency, Tim.
00:48:41Yes.
00:48:55What is it?
00:48:57Everything.
00:48:59Everything.
00:49:03Chris.
00:49:15No, no, no!
00:49:17This is your robots.
00:49:19They did this.
00:49:21What are you going to do?
00:49:23Do?
00:49:25About Newtown.
00:49:27Mr. Brooks.
00:49:29Ten thousand people
00:49:31have just been blown to kingdom come.
00:49:33Hey, hey, hey.
00:49:35Countries that have smaller GDPs
00:49:37than our annual budget.
00:49:39They're getting killed out there.
00:49:41This is going to make the Gulf of Mexico
00:49:43look like spilled milk.
00:49:45It's a global disaster.
00:49:53How do you stop the robots?
00:49:55The CCU and most of the tariffs
00:49:57went up on the platform.
00:49:59So that's it? There's nothing you can do?
00:50:01We have no way
00:50:03to communicate with them.
00:50:05But I'm sure
00:50:07they'll be rescued here.
00:50:09Oh, yeah.
00:50:11And how long do you think they'll last
00:50:13before your robots are ripped into pieces?
00:50:21I don't know.
00:50:25I'm going.
00:50:45If you're just joining us,
00:50:47tragedy is unfolding in Southeast Asia,
00:50:49where dozens of people,
00:50:51including a GNN camera operator,
00:50:53have been killed by robots,
00:50:55rampaging through a housing complex
00:50:57belonging to mega-national industries.
00:50:59We're just receiving word
00:51:01that there has been an explosion
00:51:03on the platform,
00:51:05which is now reportedly
00:51:07burning out of control.
00:51:09Reports on the incident are early,
00:51:11and we have no official word
00:51:13if it is connected to the robot rampage.
00:51:15But we must acknowledge
00:51:17that this would seem like
00:51:19an awfully big coincidence.
00:51:21GNN reporter
00:51:23Christiane Nouveau
00:51:25was broadcasting live from the location
00:51:27when the killing spree began.
00:51:29We've since lost contact
00:51:31with her and her camera operator,
00:51:33Danny Ross,
00:51:35and have no way of knowing
00:51:37their current condition.
00:51:39Christiane was last seen
00:51:41holding the body of her...
00:51:45I'm just being told
00:51:47that Christiane has contacted us
00:51:49by telephone.
00:51:53All right, we're going to put her on
00:51:55live right now.
00:51:57Christiane, are you there?
00:51:59Yes, I'm here, Ben.
00:52:01I'm sure I speak for everybody
00:52:03when I say it is a relief to hear your voice.
00:52:05For me, too.
00:52:07It's been touch and go.
00:52:09I'm not sure how long
00:52:11this connection will last.
00:52:13Where are you right now?
00:52:15Right now,
00:52:17we're inside an abandoned classroom.
00:52:19In Newtown?
00:52:21Right.
00:52:23There are five others with us.
00:52:25We're trying to stay out of sight.
00:52:27The blinds are pulled.
00:52:29We know at least some people have tried
00:52:31to make it to the jungle.
00:52:33You're hiding from the robots?
00:52:35Yes.
00:52:37For the last 45 minutes or so,
00:52:39they've been storming the streets,
00:52:41pretty much killing everyone in sight.
00:52:43Christiane, are you safe in the classroom?
00:52:47Nowhere is safe.
00:52:49Do you know why
00:52:51the robots are turning on people?
00:52:53No idea.
00:52:5590 minutes ago,
00:52:57Newtown was an idyllic model of the future.
00:52:59Now,
00:53:01it is as deadly as the worst streets of Baghdad.
00:53:03The air is choked
00:53:05with burning oil.
00:53:07We're just now
00:53:09seeing some fire
00:53:11images shot with your phone.
00:53:13Yes.
00:53:15Do you think the robots
00:53:17sabotaged their oil rigs?
00:53:19They must have.
00:53:21Christiane,
00:53:23tell me what else have you seen?
00:53:25Um...
00:53:27Families being gunned down in their homes.
00:53:29Bodies falling from the sky.
00:53:31We saw one man
00:53:33being torn limb from limb.
00:53:35Even children.
00:53:37Even children
00:53:39aren't being spared.
00:53:41Most people are hiding.
00:53:43I think some are fighting back.
00:53:45How?
00:53:47Any way they can.
00:53:49We're making weapons out of anything that...
00:53:51No, no, don't look out!
00:53:53Christiane?
00:53:55They're here.
00:53:59Christiane?
00:54:07Put me down on top of one of those towers.
00:54:13Put me down!
00:54:43We should go up.
00:54:45The top of those buildings,
00:54:47they won't go there.
00:54:49Why not?
00:54:51It's tall.
00:54:53Yeah, that makes sense.
00:54:55I'll try thinking like a robot.
00:54:57No, thanks.
00:54:59All right, let's see it.
00:55:01No, I'm fine.
00:55:03It's not as bad as it looks.
00:55:05Doesn't mean you weren't as stupid as you looked.
00:55:07Oh, you're a real confidence booster,
00:55:09you know that?
00:55:11I wouldn't have gotten you if I hadn't.
00:55:13I know.
00:55:15Didn't say it wasn't brave.
00:55:19Look, I can take care of myself, okay?
00:55:21You don't have to be my protector.
00:55:25Oh, I see.
00:55:27So whose idea was it?
00:55:29Yours or his?
00:55:31No comment.
00:55:33See, this is the danger of too much testosterone
00:55:35on the brain.
00:55:37Benny, don't get killed.
00:55:39I've lost Skye,
00:55:41and I can't handle losing you, too.
00:55:43You know he'll kill me if I let anything happen to you.
00:55:45He almost didn't have to.
00:55:47Are you guys splitting?
00:55:49Did he say that?
00:55:51Well, it wasn't that hard to figure out.
00:55:53I don't know.
00:55:55At work, we're like one person.
00:55:57At home,
00:55:59we can't figure out what we are.
00:56:01It's not
00:56:03definitely definite.
00:56:05Ah.
00:56:07Then you definitely wouldn't consider dinner with me
00:56:09when we get out of this.
00:56:11If we get out of this, I'll cook it myself.
00:56:13Oh, no.
00:56:15We should play it safe and go for Japanese.
00:56:17I can cook.
00:56:19Oh, I'm sorry.
00:56:21Oh, sorry.
00:56:23Okay.
00:56:27So if we don't go up,
00:56:29then we go out.
00:56:31The jungle.
00:56:33By killing everything that moves here.
00:56:35But then we'll be out in the open.
00:56:37Well, I've been in Turkish beds where you can see more.
00:56:43Don't read anything into that.
00:56:45Well, let's just hope
00:56:47they can't see in this any better than we can.
00:57:03Go.
00:57:15Go.
00:57:17Go.
00:57:33Go.
00:57:43Come on.
00:57:45Come on.
00:57:47Come on, Danny.
00:57:53How do I find you?
00:58:03Ah!
00:58:15No, it's this way.
00:58:17I think.
00:58:25Oh, not again.
00:58:27Danny.
00:58:29Come on. You know screaming means robots.
00:58:31It's a child.
00:58:33We're journalists.
00:58:35Not now. Not anymore.
00:58:37I'm going.
00:58:39All right.
00:58:45Hello?
00:58:47Where are you?
00:59:01Where are you?
00:59:13Wait!
00:59:25Hello. How can I help you?
00:59:31Oh.
00:59:37Oh, there you are.
00:59:39I got you. I got you.
00:59:41Oh.
00:59:43I know you.
00:59:45You're Julie, right?
00:59:47You remember me?
00:59:49I don't want to rush anybody here,
00:59:51but kill the robots.
01:00:01No.
01:00:15No.
01:00:17It's okay. It's okay.
01:00:21Try to relax.
01:00:23It will only hurt for a moment.
01:00:25Run!
01:00:31Oh.
01:00:39Jason?
01:00:41Up your ass, mate.
01:00:43Not here to put on a show, you know?
01:00:45You sure about that?
01:00:51Here.
01:00:53You hide in here, sweetheart. It won't find you here.
01:01:01Go!
01:01:03No. I don't want to go.
01:01:05Oh, honey, you just have to be brave,
01:01:07and it'll be okay.
01:01:09Okay.
01:01:11Just be very, very quiet, and I'll be back. I promise.
01:01:13Okay.
01:01:15Come on.
01:01:32Get Chris to the chopper.
01:01:34Get out of here, Danny.
01:01:36No way.
01:01:40No!
01:01:42It's almost over now.
01:01:56Grab it!
01:02:02Come on!
01:02:06Take it!
01:02:12Jason.
01:02:15Ow.
01:02:17Oh.
01:02:19Couldn't make you have all the fun, could I?
01:02:21Oh, yeah. He thought I could handle it.
01:02:23You're an idiot.
01:02:25Oh, that means a lot coming from you, boss.
01:02:27Where's your camera?
01:02:30That robot ate it.
01:02:32That's coming out of your pain, mate.
01:02:34I just saved your life.
01:02:39We just saved your life.
01:02:41Yeah?
01:02:43Who's got the keys to the chopper?
01:02:47It makes a point.
01:02:49Let's get out of here.
01:02:51Oh, wait.
01:02:54She's gone.
01:02:56I left her right here.
01:02:58Jilly?
01:03:00She probably just ran off.
01:03:02No, I said I'd be back. I promised.
01:03:04Jilly?
01:03:06Chris.
01:03:08Jilly?
01:03:10Jilly?
01:03:12Hey, could you just, like, not yell so loud?
01:03:14We have to find her. We have to find her.
01:03:16She's gone, Chris.
01:03:18No, she's not gone.
01:03:20How could I leave her like that?
01:03:22She was so scared.
01:03:24It's not your fault.
01:03:26She's just a little girl.
01:03:30I'm fine.
01:03:32I'm fine.
01:03:34I'm fine. Where do we go?
01:03:46Hey, block 185.
01:03:49That way.
01:04:03Anything?
01:04:05Looks clear.
01:04:07Which tower?
01:04:09Other side. There's an elevator.
01:04:14Ow.
01:04:19Ow.
01:04:21Hey, wait.
01:04:23You hear that?
01:04:45Come on.
01:04:49This is sure to bring him running.
01:04:51Come on.
01:05:15You okay?
01:05:17Jason.
01:05:20We need to get to the jungle.
01:05:22He's losing a lot of blood.
01:05:24I can make it.
01:05:30You a Ben Levitt man?
01:05:32Huh?
01:05:35How's this?
01:05:37Well, beggars can't be choosers.
01:05:39Drink.
01:05:44Ow.
01:05:48Ow.
01:05:50This is going to hurt.
01:05:51Tell me something I don't know.
01:05:53I meant pouring it out.
01:05:54You're all hurt.
01:05:55You ready?
01:05:56Now, best you don't scream.
01:05:58Oh, now you tell me.
01:06:03Good, man.
01:06:04Oh, God, that's smooth.
01:06:06Hurry up, Jase.
01:06:10Blue. How about blue?
01:06:12You like that?
01:06:15You've done this before, right?
01:06:17Sure have.
01:06:19I hate buying new socks.
01:06:21You can't cook.
01:06:23You can't sew.
01:06:25You're a real catch.
01:06:29One robot goes berserk, okay?
01:06:32Two or three, maybe.
01:06:33But all of them?
01:06:35What do you think?
01:06:36Yeah.
01:06:37You mean, do I think it's an accident?
01:06:39Not likely.
01:06:40I mean, neither.
01:06:42Why?
01:06:44Almost done.
01:06:45And who?
01:06:47I don't know.
01:06:48I mean, it'd have to be on the inside.
01:06:51Unless...
01:06:52What?
01:06:53What if it's not about the robots?
01:06:55Well, it's not about the robots.
01:06:57It's about the World Platform.
01:06:59Terrorists?
01:07:00A rival corporation?
01:07:02All my money's on the badass robots taking over the world.
01:07:06Well, we'll just have to stop them, eh?
01:07:09Good, isn't he?
01:07:10Oh, yeah.
01:07:11Okay.
01:07:26Look.
01:07:42Look.
01:07:50If they're not gunners, they'd be shooting at us.
01:08:03I've got a signal.
01:08:06I know you're not calling a taxi.
01:08:09Never underestimate a New York cabbie.
01:08:12How do I look?
01:08:13Like the best.
01:08:15Thanks.
01:08:16We're in Newtown.
01:08:17Yeah.
01:08:18She's ready to go live.
01:08:20You're gonna have to patch us in on the phone.
01:08:22Make it quick, eh?
01:08:25You do the honours.
01:08:28Don't want any trouble with the Union.
01:08:32Incredibly, still with us and reporting from Newtown,
01:08:36we now go to Christian Nouveau.
01:08:39This is Christian Nouveau reporting from Newtown,
01:08:42which has become a killing zone at the hands of the robots
01:08:45that once served this community.
01:08:48Nearby, the massive MNI platform is burning out of control,
01:08:52presumably sabotaged by the robots.
01:08:55All this, it's like being inside Armageddon.
01:08:59I'm here with my producer, Jason Brooks,
01:09:02and cameraman, Danny Ross.
01:09:04Our colleague, Sky Bennett, has been killed.
01:09:07Our GNN helicopter has been destroyed,
01:09:10and we have had to fight for our lives.
01:09:14We have not seen another human being for quite some time now.
01:09:18Like the others, we have decided to flee Newtown
01:09:21in the hopes of reaching the jungle
01:09:23and surviving long enough to be rescued.
01:09:26By doing so, we are taking our chances
01:09:29by being out here in the open.
01:09:31Even now, robots are watching us from the rail lines above,
01:09:36like the dark lords of some terrible underworld.
01:09:41Are we entering or are we leaving?
01:09:44This is Christian Nouveau in Newtown, signing off.
01:09:52Perfect.
01:09:54Make my career?
01:09:56Uh-uh.
01:09:59Let's go.
01:10:02God damn it!
01:10:17Listen up, everyone.
01:10:19This lab has one single purpose.
01:10:22We're going to pull the plug on every last living robot.
01:10:25I don't care how we do it, but by God's grace,
01:10:29no one else is going to die today.
01:10:32Okay? Let's go!
01:10:37Oh, my God, they're people.
01:10:39It's like a warning.
01:10:41You think the robots actually comprehend human terror?
01:10:44I know I do.
01:10:46Come on.
01:10:59Come on.
01:11:29Come on.
01:11:59Come on.
01:12:13They're coming.
01:12:15Come on.
01:12:45Come on.
01:13:15Come on.
01:13:39Eddie.
01:13:45Eddie.
01:14:05Eddie.
01:14:15Eddie.
01:14:45Eddie.
01:14:51A billion lines of code.
01:14:53We'll get through this together, Gordon, just like the old days.
01:14:57Defies logic.
01:14:59What does?
01:15:01A programming error.
01:15:03It's all the Burt's. It has to be in the code.
01:15:06A single code passes every failsafe, every redundant system.
01:15:11Every robot goes berserk.
01:15:15That's a whopper.
01:15:17Then what?
01:15:20Timing.
01:15:22I'm not following.
01:15:24It happened just in time for the cameras.
01:15:27Coincidence?
01:15:29You mean, like, sabotage?
01:15:32We designed them. I mean, we know everything about the Burt's.
01:15:35How else would you account for this?
01:15:38Okay, a cyberattack. Somebody hacked the system.
01:15:41But to pull this off,
01:15:44you have to know the Burt's inside and out.
01:15:53Why?
01:15:55Gordon, it wasn't supposed to happen like this.
01:15:59What was supposed to happen?
01:16:01I...
01:16:04Why did you do it? Tell me!
01:16:06It was supposed to be small.
01:16:08I embarrass you! No one was supposed to get hurt!
01:16:12You were my best friend. We designed all of this together.
01:16:15They were mine first!
01:16:17You took them!
01:16:18No!
01:16:19You took everything! The credits, the fame!
01:16:22You know I don't care about that!
01:16:24You!
01:16:26You could have had it all.
01:16:32Can you stop them?
01:16:34No.
01:17:04No.
01:17:35You got a robot?
01:17:38Run!
01:17:48If only we could resend the kill code.
01:17:51What's that?
01:17:53Sorry, I know it doesn't help.
01:17:55No, no, no. That's right. We have all the codes, right?
01:17:57Yeah, but we have no way to send them.
01:18:00Well, maybe we can find a way. All we need is a satellite.
01:18:04Can you do that?
01:18:05Yeah, I can do that.
01:18:07It's possible, in theory. We couldn't be sure if it'll work.
01:18:12Well, let's find out. Get the files ready for uploading.
01:18:15Carlin?
01:18:17You made it out. Congratulations.
01:18:19Rescued by a robot geek. Unbelievable.
01:18:22Lucky I was feeling generous. I didn't have much time to prepare.
01:18:25This happened before, didn't it?
01:18:27No, this is apocalyptic.
01:18:29But it is the robots.
01:18:31Yeah, what did you think? It was terrorists?
01:18:36And you people put them among civilians.
01:18:38Hey, you make an omelette, you gotta crack a few eggs.
01:18:43Why did they kill?
01:18:45Look, folks. Really bad place for them.
01:18:50You know what? You guys are on your own.
01:18:53What? You're just gonna leave us?
01:18:55There is a crowd and a big, fat target.
01:18:58He's right.
01:19:00Okay, we need to split up.
01:19:01No!
01:19:02Yes.
01:19:03Okay, I'll draw the robots away. You dig in deep.
01:19:05This is stupid as much OBS I've ever heard.
01:19:08Yeah, well, perfect. Because as I recall, that's why you gave me my marching orders.
01:19:11Hey, hey, hey, hey.
01:19:13What, are you guys married?
01:19:15I'm out of here.
01:19:17Well, give us some of your grenades.
01:19:19Sorry. They're all accounted for.
01:19:21Good luck.
01:19:25Here.
01:19:28You might do better in the tunnel.
01:19:30Everything you can give me. I need it now.
01:20:00They're better. Why wasn't he going in?
01:20:06We're gonna find out.
01:20:27Careful.
01:20:30Careful.
01:20:46Got it.
01:20:49Security code's coming through now.
01:20:52This way.
01:21:16It's no good.
01:21:19It's no good.
01:21:41Oh, no.
01:21:48Oh.
01:21:52If we ever have a daughter, we're calling of Jillian.
01:21:56Jillian.
01:22:16God, I hope it works.
01:22:26Come on.
01:22:56Come on.
01:23:26Come on.
01:23:56Come on.
01:24:27Damn.
01:24:29It's done.
01:24:47Whatever happens, we own the new cycle.
01:24:56Here goes nothing.
