00:00Hi, I'm Mark Dunford and I'm here from Sussex World and I've just been to Gatwick, I've
00:05had a little tour of the North Terminal and all the renovations it's had and I've been
00:09to the South Terminal Pizza Express branch which is the only branch of Pizza Express
00:13which serves breakfast.
00:15So I've had some lovely eggs, it was a really nice food experience and then I was taken
00:20to the North Terminal Gatwick where they've had a huge multi-million pound renovation.
00:26I've seen the sensory room, the new accessibility lounge which looks really good and really
00:31good for those flyers that just need a bit more room, a bit more quiet time.
00:37And yeah, just seeing how they've renovated the whole airside of the North Terminal with
00:43all the different restaurants, there's Krispy Kreme, there's Pret, there's Wagamama and
00:49also discovered the best place where if you just want to go and sit and watch the airfield
00:53and watch planes take off and take off while having food is Wagamama in the corner of
00:59the North Terminal.
01:00It's a really good view, I imagine you could sit there for hours and just sit and watch
01:04planes come in, take off, look at the airfield, what's going on.
01:08But yeah, where all the shops are, where the Lego shop is etc, it's so now light and airy
01:14and there's a lovely wood sort of theming all the way around and the flooring which
01:19I didn't notice at first but it's sort of colour coded so you know where to sit, where
01:23to walk, where the sort of open space is and there's so many different places to sit
01:28and so many different types of ways to sit so you can, I know that sounds ridiculous
01:32but you can sit and chill out on a sort of loungy seat.
01:37You can sit and do work if you need a teams call or want to FaceTime somebody, there's
01:43charging points at all the seats and you can sit and do some work or there's ones where
01:48you can just sit and perch if you're just waiting for your colleague, spouse, son, daughter,
01:53if they've gone into a shop.
01:54So yeah, some really good stuff going on at Gatwick, they're currently going through their
01:59Northern Runway consultation, the examination stage closed this week so there's now three
02:04months before the planning inspectorate makes their recommendation to the Secretary of State
02:09and then they take their time, I think it's end of February they're looking to make a
02:15decision on whether those plans for bringing that Northern Runway into more routine use
02:20are approved or not and then obviously if it's approved then Gatwick will start their
02:24plans, if it's not approved, and there's plenty of opposition to it, you've got local campaign
02:30groups like Cagney, CPRE who are all campaigning for it not to happen because of the effects
02:36it might have on the environment, noise emissions etc.
02:39So you can keep up with all that sort of debate on sussexworld.co.uk.
