00:00We're far away from the Philippines, but we're so happy that we're able to grow Filipino-favorite vegetables in Canada.
00:04And we're starting with upo, also known as long squash.
00:07Next, we have ampalaya, also known as bitter melon.
00:09This next vegetable is just starting to produce now. This one's called sitaw or long beans.
00:14Everyone is familiar with tomato, and we call this kamatis, and we add this to many Filipino dishes.
00:19Since I only picked one sitaw or long beans, I needed to harvest green beans, which makes a really great substitute for it.
00:25Next, we have kalabasa, also known as squash.
00:28And one that's closely related to what we grow in the Philippines is kabocha squash.
00:31Another common vegetable that we eat in the Philippines is green okra.
00:35We ended up growing burgundy red, but the taste is very similar.
00:38Next, we have talong or eggplant, and we mainly grow the Japanese eggplant variety.
00:42And in the Philippines, we do love sili, also known as chili peppers.
00:46Next, we have pechay or bok choy.
00:48And this year, we grew saluyot, also known as jute.
00:51And we mainly harvest the young shoots.
00:53And lastly, we have kangkong, also known as water spinach.
00:56If you want to learn how to grow these vegetables in your garden, follow along.
