00:09Six days later, he was admitted to the hospital.
00:12Then, a specimen was taken to the RITM for a test.
00:16August 26, the result came out.
00:19He was the first resident of Quezon City who tested positive for mpox.
00:23According to the Quezon City Health Department Epidemiology and Surveillance Division,
00:28the patient has a local travel history and is now admitted to San Lazaro Hospital.
00:33The QCLGO is now monitoring the 15 infected patients.
00:37Five of them are still recovering.
00:39Because skin-to-skin contact is the way to fight mpox,
00:43should there be social distancing again to avoid spreading like COVID-19?
00:49We don't see the need for social distancing.
00:52COVID-19 is airborne.
00:55Mpox is skin-to-skin.
00:57Even if you're one inch apart, as long as the skin doesn't stick
01:01and you don't breathe through your mouth,
01:05you won't get mpox.
01:08They say it's better to avoid kissing.
01:10You'll really get close to your nose, mouth, and cheeks.
01:14So, you're already skin-to-skin, you're still breathing.
01:17What about the passengers in the MRT, bus, and jeep next to you?
01:22Let's wear a face mask in that situation.
01:25And one more thing, wear a jacket to cover our faces.
01:30Wear pants instead of skirts or shorts
01:33to cover our foreheads.
01:35Remove your jacket when you're far from people.
01:39When the DOH clarifies, only skin can be infected.
01:43This week, the DOH will issue specific guidelines
01:47for establishments to avoid mpox.
01:50For those who will go abroad and enter the country,
01:53they will need to fill out an e-travel form
01:55where they will state if you have symptoms such as rashes, blisters, and vesicles.
02:00There is no mandatory isolation and the mpox suspect can go home
02:04while waiting for the results.
02:06According to the DOH, the case of mpox in the country is very manageable.
