00:00Germany's chancellor says foreign-born criminals will be deported a week after a Syrian asylum
00:07seeker killed three people.
00:14Germany's chancellor Olaf Scholz has called the return of 28 Afghan nationals to Afghanistan
00:20a clear sign that foreign-born people convicted of the crime will be deported.
00:26A government spokesperson said on Friday that they were all convicted criminals but did
00:30not say what their offences were.
00:33It is the first time Germany has deported Afghan nationals to their homeland since the
00:37Taliban returned to power in 2021.
00:41Germany does not have diplomatic relations with the group, which required the government
00:45to work through other channels to organise the deportations.
00:49They come a week after a deadly knife attack in the town of Solingen left three people
00:53dead and eight others seriously wounded.
00:57The suspect, named by prosecutors as Issa El-H, is a Syrian citizen who had applied
01:02for asylum in Germany.
01:04He was arrested on suspicion of murder and membership of a terrorist organisation.
01:09The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for last Friday's attack without providing
01:14evidence.
01:19Union President Volodymyr Zelensky had dismissed the commander of the country's air force
01:24four days after an F-16 warplane crashed and killed the pilot.
01:29In his nightly video address, Zelensky confirmed Lieutenant General Mikhail Oleshchuk had been
01:34removed, saying we need to protect people and personnel.
01:38The F-16 fighter was one of six believed to have been delivered to Ukraine as part of
01:43a military aid package from Western allies.
01:46Meanwhile, a Russian glide bomb attack on the northeastern city of Kharkiv has killed
01:50six people, including a 14-year-old girl and wounded 47 others.
01:56The bomb struck five locations across the city, with one hitting a 12-storey apartment
02:01block, setting the building on fire and trapping at least one person on an upper floor.
02:05Ukrainian authorities said the attack was launched from just across the border in the
02:09Russian region of Belgorod.
02:12That's where local authorities said at least five people were killed and 37 others injured
02:17in Ukrainian airstrikes on Friday evening.
02:24A Supreme Court justice in Brazil has ordered the suspension of social media platform X
02:29after its chief Elon Musk refused to name a legal representative in the country.
02:35Justice Alexandre de Moraes warned Musk on Wednesday that X could be blocked if he failed
02:39to comply with his order and set a 24-hour deadline.
02:43X hasn't had a representative in Brazil since earlier this month.
02:47In his decision, de Moraes said Elon Musk showed his total disrespect for Brazilian
02:52sovereignty and in particular for the judiciary.
02:55The full bench of the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the case, but no date for deliberations
03:01has been set.
03:02In a post on X, Musk slammed de Moraes as an evil dictator cosplaying as a judge.
03:08But in a radio interview on Friday night, Brazil's President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva
03:13said everyone with investments in Brazil must abide by the law and respect Supreme Court
03:18rulings.
03:24More than 100 tons of dead fish has washed into the central port of Volos.
03:29The freshwater fish have filled both the bay and nearby rivers after they were displaced
03:34from their normal habitats by flooding last year.
03:38Water controllers have been chartered by regional authorities along with earthmovers
03:42to scoop the fish out of the sea and load them onto trucks where they will be taken
03:46to an incinerator.
04:02Water levels rose abruptly last autumn during a storm that caused extensive flooding in
04:06central Greece, but have since receded due to low rainfall and successive heat waves
04:11this summer.
04:12Experts say a net wasn't placed at the mouth of the river leading into Volos, so when the
04:17freshwater fish were carried with the flood water, they died when they came into contact
04:21with seawater.
04:23The mayor of Volos accused regional authorities of acting too slowly and said the rotting
04:27fish could cause an environmental disaster.
04:31And the city's Chamber of Commerce said it was taking legal action to seek damages after
04:35commercial activity in the popular tourist destination dropped by an estimated 80 percent
04:40over the last three days.
