00:00Let's spend some time on wide receiver because it feels a lot of people when they fade the running back heavy strategy to the draft capital, they find themselves doing wide receivers. So let's do it here. Now, out of these top 12 guys is two that I really want, but I've got to hear from you. Let's start.
00:21Well, look, I'd love to get as many of these guys you possibly can. And most maybe you can get two of them and you feel great about it. This is how I want to start my teams because it's a wide receiver league. And that's what we're living in right now in the NFL. And most leagues are PPR. So you're getting that bounce in that advantage. The elite wide receivers are the guys that you really want to build teams around. Again, usual suspects at the top. These are the consensus rankings, not my rankings. So we're going to poke holes in them and see if we can see anything that we like or dislike.
00:50Potentially city lamb is at the top with Tyreek Hill. No surprise there. I think either way is a great way to start your team. I think you're going to be perfectly fine. Jamar chase at three. I'm on Ross St. Brown, finally moving up to four, especially after the JJ McCarthy injury. I think people started to sour on Justin Jefferson. So I'm on raw. I've seen go as early as four and as late as eight. I mean, it is crazy how varying his stock is for a guy that at 1300 yards and just putting up 20 spots every single week.
01:19The guy is tremendous value. So a great like rock solid foundation wide receiver one to start your league with in any middle pick that you might have in your draft. After that, again, Justin Jefferson, sometimes falling very late. A lot of people have soured on Justin Jefferson. The markets bounce back a little bit. So I saw him going in that first week of the injury at the turn.
01:41What's happening? 10 11 12 for Justin Jefferson. That is bumped up now more towards the five to eight range. So it's kind of recovered a little bit in terms of value. AJ Brown, another rock solid guy. If you don't get I'm on raw. I think AJ Brown is a great lock wide receiver. I think he has a bit of a bounce back. Last year was still a really good season. It's just kind of fell apart at the end a little bit for the Eagles collectively. And you can't really hang that all on AJ Brown.
02:07This is the grouping that I think is very particular. I am a Marvin Harrison guy. I will take Harrison over Puka Nakua. I will take Harrison over Garrett Wilson. I think Harrison has an opportunity to go 1400 yards this year. We'll see if I'm right or wrong. It's not that Wilson isn't great or Nakua isn't great. I just want Marvin Harrison. And if I get two of those guys right.
02:26Drake London is the next one on this list here at 10. And this is a leap of faith. You know, going into the year I had him is a 13 overall wide receiver. Now the consensus has put him into 10. Really interesting that he's leapfrogged. Davante Adams has been around a very long time. But when it comes to quarterback play, theoretically, Drake London is going to have better quarterback play than Davante Adams with Gardner Minshew.
02:50Now, this is a tricky one because people are very, I would say, comfortable with Davante Adams, right? You've been drafted him for years. He's a name you recognize, a name that has won you championships. So Matt, do you think people are gonna have a hard time drafting Drake London over Davante Adams? Because I think most leagues you'll see Adams go before London. What do you think?
03:10Well, if you're having a hard time, then I think, like Joe said, you're living in the past. The receivers I want in this category in here are Amaras St. Brown and Drake London. And if I can have those guys, then I can make a case for Justin Jefferson and AJ Brown. And I almost want to give Justin Jefferson this systems receiver kind of identity because I don't think it's going to matter. Sam Donald can find a way. Justin Jefferson certainly can find a way. But outside of that, you can have Davante Adams and you can have Garrett Wilson.
03:36And to me, the names I said are the names I'm focusing on. When we get into the next tier here, this is where I think people outthink themselves, right? You're getting into the Nico Collinses and the DK Metcalfs of the world here. Everyone starts to outthink themselves. Oh, I'm a weak neighbor. It's a flip, Joe.
03:53Yeah. Once you get past Chris Olave at 12, and that's a good debate, too, because Chris Olave is fine. He's fine. He's a good wide receiver in a mediocre team. And I think that's the problem.
04:06They have a good schedule, though, right? A strength of schedule. They're one of the top teams. So, I mean, take it into consideration.
04:12Here's the thing. It's still, you know, limitations of when they get into the red zone. Do they do a lot of weird Taysom Hill stuff and, like, you think the car's hands. And this was a team that struggled mightily last year in the red zone. So, to me, Olave is a perfectly fine wide receiver, too. As my wide receiver one, it's not enough.
04:28I'll look at some of the other names, though, when you get past that grouping. I think those are some names that really pop. Mike Evans continues to just defy all logic and father time every year, a thousand yards every year. Touchdown City. Debo Samuel, Nico Collins, Jalen Waddle. Now, Collins and Waddle are the two guys that I'm circling here.
04:45Nico Collins was the top 10 wide receiver last year. Just because Stefan Digg showed up doesn't change that for me. Nico is, I think, the main guy in this offense. I don't, yeah. And people are all concerned now. I think that's where you're getting a discount. Same thing with Jalen Waddle. Waddle was hurt last year. He got signed to a contract extension. Jalen Waddle is going to work a ton in this offense. He's got a chance to go well over 1,200 yards. And you're drafting as a wide receiver, too? That's spectacular.
05:10He could have more yards this year than Justin Jefferson. That's not out of the range of outcomes, potentially. So those two guys at 15 and 16 are big targets of mine. Cooper Cupp, I've said it once. I'll say it a million times. As my third wide receiver, I love it. As my number two, I'm a little concerned, potentially, of what that might bring. Brandon Ayuk, we talked about the same thing. Here we are, right at the top of the show. We talked about Ayuk's value. You don't have to go, Brandon Ayuk, because look at the other names here. D.K. Metcalf, very steady. D.J. Moore, very steady.
05:39And I think what Caleb Williams is going to be very good. Michael Pittman, I know some people are concerned a little bit. Richardson's preseason, I'm not. He's just working the kinks out. That's what you do when you haven't played football in a year. So if it's good enough for the kid, why isn't it good enough for Aaron Rodgers? I have a problem, Matt. I just have a problem.
05:55I'm letting you go, dude. I know, I know you do. Sometimes I wish you wouldn't. Malik Neighbors at 23, incredible talent. The only thing holding him back, probably, is Daniel Jones, and that might be enough to hold him back outside the top 20 all year. But as a fringe top 20 guy, absolutely. And Amari Cooper, another guy, too. I don't love Deshaun Watson, but Cooper somehow finds a way every single year to be relevant.
06:19So this is a really good group in here. D.J., D.K., Pittman, Neighbors, those are the ones I'm looking for. And then ahead of them, Collins and Waddell, those are my favorite targets. This is that great value in that third and fourth round at wide receiver. You can pound the table there at wide receiver and really build out a very good roster.
