00:00Joe, we're doing ranks here, Mr. Pizza P.A. Let's talk tight ends here because at the
00:07top of the show, you expressed some concern with Brock Bowers and a foot injury, right?
00:11Football, foot, you're not going to be. Now, where's that pivot to someone that was saying,
00:17man, I'm going to wait, I'm going to wait, I'm going to grab Brock Bowers from underneath
00:20everybody. What do you do now?
00:22That's the problem. I think the pivot might be gone. And now you have to have a better
00:26plan because waiting too late, maybe the pivot is again, Pat Friermuth, who I think
00:31in an Arthur Smith offense is going to get a fair amount of targets. And we think about
00:34the way Pittsburgh is laid out right now. You have George Pickens, you have a rookie
00:37wide receiver. You've got, you know, Jalen Warren and Najee Harris. There's certainly
00:42room for Pat Friermuth to do more in this offense than he did last year. And let's not
00:47forget, Pat Friermuth was a top prospect coming out of Penn State. Everybody loved Pat Friermuth.
00:52Kyle Pitch just got all the attention because that was the same rookie season they came
00:55out. But Pat Friermuth had a pretty good rookie year. Unfortunately, the quarterback
00:59play in Pittsburgh, not so great the last couple of seasons, but no matter who's playing
01:02Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, I expect it to be better, especially in Fields' place
01:07because Fields eventually, if he wins out over time, and I think it's going to be sooner
01:11than later, go back and look at what he did last year with Cole Komet. Fields is much
01:14more of a guy to check down and look for those tight ends. So I think that would be a big
01:18boon to his fantasy value. So he is the, I missed everybody. Okay. I'm just going to
01:23take Pat Friermuth. But the rest of the tight end rankings, again, usual suspects at the
01:27top, Sam LaPorta, Travis Kelsey. I would still take Kelsey ahead of LaPorta just based on
01:32track record. I know Kelsey's older, that scares people, but he's going sometimes in
01:36the third round and that's just a value I can't pass up. Mark Andrews, another one that's
01:40a little tenuous. All of a sudden, tight end is getting rough out there in the street.
01:45Mark Andrews hasn't been practicing since he's had that car accident. Now everyone says
01:49he's fine. He's going to play. The fact that he's a practicing yet is a little concerning
01:54and they do have Isaiah likely. So if you take Mark Andrews, you might be smart with
01:58your last pick that just grabbed likely and just stick them on your bench in case you
02:02date him for the first couple of weeks. So you don't have to spend any free agent budget
02:06in week one or two just to pick up likely, or if somebody else decides to pick them up
02:10because tight end didn't go their way. Right? So all of a sudden now a little trickier there.
02:15Dan McBride, I think is a better selection over Andrews in that same vein. He's going
02:19to get a ton of targets. I'm talking double digits every single week. We're talking a
02:23tight end. They give me a hundred catches on the year and is the number two target in
02:27this offense. Clearly Dalton Kincaid, another one of these guys where it's a lot of upside,
02:32a lot of excitement, but not a lot of track record yet at some really good moments last
02:37year. Everyone's very high on him, but I'd rather wait one more pick and go to Kyle pits.
02:42And this is a tough one for a lot of people because the pits hype train has been real.
02:47You know, the rookie season, a thousand yards last two years barely had that combined. Right?
02:53So now it's a new year. It's a new situation. We're looking for Kyle pits to finally emerge
02:59with Kirk cousins, the word out of camp. And I read this yesterday. It was at Kyle pits
03:03is playing with an edge in practice. That's good. He should be playing with an edge because
03:08the last two years were disappointing. Take advantage. I say of the situation where people
03:14have over-invested in a player with great talent in a bad situation. And now they're
03:19under investing on the same player simply because the last few years didn't work out.
03:24That really were not quite his fault. Some injuries. Yes. But the quarterback play more
03:29than anything held him back. So I am buying Kyle pits at tight end six. Are you buying
03:36the bounce back and buying the dip, frankly, on one of the best talents at the position?
03:41So here's what's happened after so many years of doing drafts in all kinds of sports,
03:46I've learned to go in and get my guys independent of Joe's mentioning ADP independent of ranking,
03:53so on and so forth. In this case, I've got two guys in every single draft that even if I have
03:58to reach, I'm going to come out of drafts with them. One of them is Kyle pits and the other is
04:02Evan Ingram. So to your point with all the conversation and everyone lining up at the
04:07Kelsey window and Laporta window and the end and the like would go right ahead. The window that I
04:11like the pits window is a little crowded. But from there, I can pivot to the Ingram window,
04:15which isn't as crowded. But beyond that, Joe, that's where I stand.
04:20I agree. I think tight end this year, it more than anything is about the value you're getting
04:25the player. If you're getting a little bit of a discount on Kelsey or Laporta, you take it.
04:29If you're getting a discount on McBride, you take it. If it goes to that middle grouping there,
04:33and it's Kyle pits and Evan Ingram, that's the cliff for me. Evan Ingram is kind of the cliff.
04:37And the reason why in PPR leagues, the guy had 140 targets last year. He caught over 100 balls.
04:42I don't think anybody cares about that. And the only thing that's really changed this offense
04:45is what Brian Thomas jr comes in and then Calvin Ridley goes out. So really, if anything else,
04:50I'm looking for Ingram to do exactly what did last year and maybe have some more touchdowns as well.
04:55Ingram is the cliff. Take care of business before it goes past there,
04:59because after that, it gets dark. I don't streets.
