00:00In this episode of Croc Diaries, the zoo is pushed to the limits with record crowds.
00:07My serpent mates brave the firin' line.
00:11Bindi's heroes, the Wiggles, perform specially for her.
00:30Australia Zoo is goin' absolutely ballistic.
00:56We've been workin' hard, expandin' fast, and by crikey,
00:59we've got a big problem on our hands.
01:01The word is out. Australia's version of Independence Day, Australia Day,
01:05is about to break loose here at the zoo.
01:09Easy way to catch Bruce is just put me there and he just attacks me so easily.
01:13He'll follow me anywhere to attack me.
01:15You've been a bad bird, Bruce. Come on, Bruce.
01:18He'll just attack me.
01:20Oh, crikey. What a time for Bruce to get out.
01:30We're all flat out like lizards drinkin'.
01:32One of the biggest days the zoo's ever had.
01:35And my brolga decides to go walkabout.
01:47Now he's gonna put on a turn.
01:50Yep, cranky as anything. Have a go at this.
01:57This bloke's got attitude.
01:59He totally refuses to share his territory with anyone
02:02except his drop-dead gorgeous girlfriend, Woodstock.
02:05And look out, anyone who dares to clean up his mess.
02:09How am I supposed to get any work done here?
02:12Bruce was hand-raised from an egg.
02:14He's never actually mated with his girlfriend,
02:17but he thinks he's a human, and he reckons he's the boss.
02:28Any distraction is good.
02:30The only way we can clean up in here is to clean up in here.
02:34Any distraction is good.
02:36The only way we can clean up in here
02:38is to give him something else to attack, like Stuart's feet.
02:41Naughty boy, Bruce.
02:43That buys us time to rake and make a speedy escape.
02:46But Bruce wins again.
02:51Up, up, DJ. Up, up.
02:58Push. Push. Push.
03:04It started early and it never stopped.
03:06People pouring through the gate
03:08to celebrate Australia Day at Australia Zoo.
03:11Every animal possible is out there to meet the visitors
03:15for a hands-on experience,
03:17and fingers crossed that there's going to be enough tucker to go round.
03:20Did you want to give him a gentle pat?
03:27Give her a big kiss.
03:29We reckon when people touch an animal,
03:32they in turn are touched,
03:34which makes it easier for us to conserve.
03:47Every time we expand Australia Zoo,
03:50the crowds just get bigger and it fills right up all over again.
03:56Australia Day set a new attendance record
03:59with every animal demo packed to the max.
04:02As you can see, when you throw this in,
04:04you watch Bonnie's ears.
04:06They'll float right back.
04:10You'll often see otters, like, swimming on their backs,
04:13chewing on muscles on their stomachs.
04:15These guys, they don't actually do that.
04:17Very good.
04:19When you do come across the snake,
04:21first thing you do, kids, is stand virtually still.
04:24Just take nice, slow steps back away from the snake.
04:28It's very, very hard to demonstrate the power of crocodile,
04:31but Graeme here can crush a two-stroke.
04:36Everyone's been flat out all day,
04:38pushing our capabilities to the limit.
04:40But times like these really proves
04:43who's got the best zoo staff in the world.
04:51Thanks, mate.
04:58Meanwhile, outside Australia Zoo, animals still need to be saved.
05:02Hi, how are you going?
05:04Just look out cos he usually comes out.
05:06Oh, he's beautiful, isn't he?
05:08Beautiful.
05:10A barn owl's an unusual rescue.
05:13Not because they're rare.
05:15You find them all over Australia and most of the world as well.
05:18But you just don't see a lot of barn owls during daylight hours.
05:22They're nocturnal.
05:25This bloke's been attacked by crows.
05:27He's lost, confused, and we need to check him out back at the zoo.
05:36He's a bit feisty.
05:38Apparently he was up in the tree and a couple of crows got to him
05:41and he actually fell out of the tree after the crows finished with him
05:44and Dad apparently tried to put him back up
05:46but he fell straight back out again.
05:48He's absolutely beautiful, but he's pretty feisty.
05:50First thing to do is a full physical to see if there's any hidden injuries.
05:54Can you just get that over his head?
05:57I just don't want to let him go.
06:02Oh, we've got a wing.
06:06I'll just adjust it.
06:08He was attacked by crows in a tree and he fell out of the tree.
06:12He might have gathered and he wouldn't get it together again.
06:16Barn owls have the most amazing feather structure
06:19that muffles the flapping of their wings.
06:22They're the silent predator.
06:27How does it feel?
06:29It's strong.
06:31His wings are fine.
06:33It looks like he's only suffering from stress
06:36so we'll be able to release him after sunset.
06:39The ASZK is coming, but don't worry,
06:42we're not going to need the armed forces or the police.
06:45It's the Australasian Society of Zookeepers,
06:48which gives us the opportunity to showcase all of our techniques
06:52and our exhibits.
06:57Like just about every other zoological facility,
07:00we share information methods
07:02and some of the techniques we use in the zoo
07:05Like just about every other zoological facility,
07:08we share information methods and sometimes even animals.
07:12Visitors like these are a chance to get close to wildlife
07:16that some have never encountered before.
07:19And we help each other achieve the common goal,
07:23and that's making people love animals in the cause of conservation.
07:27Some I feel very comfortable with here at the zoo.
07:30I'll hop in their cage, I'll move around in there.
07:33What I'll do, I'll do it.
07:35They'll just come up, have a flick of their tongue,
07:37and off they go, that's it.
07:39But once again, you'll just be nice and easy with them.
07:44Get the same thing back.
07:46These little King Browns here,
07:49we're actually going to raise them up to be demonstration snakes.
07:52The reason why we picked the King Brown
07:54is because these guys get to be a really big size
07:56so they're impressive for the public
07:58and these guys really quieten down really well.
08:00There's always a lot of knowledge to share in every situation.
08:05That shrike is around about half their body length,
08:08and that's from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail.
08:10Just jump in, Richie, and spin him back around.
08:15Pretty important to be able to identify dangerous areas.
08:19That whole bank along there
08:21is around about seven to eight foot from the water's edge.
08:25When Monty's really hot and puts on a really good strike,
08:27he can lunge from the water to the fence in one go.
08:29What we might do next is we'll head over to Agro's enclosure,
08:33which is directly next door,
08:35and we'll do a little bit of a mowing demonstration
08:37to show you how we mow.
08:39We basically mow all of our crocodile enclosures
08:43once a week here at Australia Zoo.
08:45Over the years, we've slowly started to cut
08:48more and more and more of the grass out of the way
08:50as the zoo's popularity has grown.
08:53So when we're mowing, you see Agro's head there.
08:56It pops up, and there's Cookie over there.
08:58So what you do is you get the mower, quickly come over here,
09:01mow very, very quickly near the water's edge.
09:04None of the saltwater crocs like mowers,
09:07but Agro, he absolutely hates them.
09:10We've almost lost count of how many times
09:13he's killed a mower and taken it into his pond.
09:16He lunges, grabs the mower, drags it into the water and kills it.
09:20Crikey, he's a naughty boy.
09:23Good try, Agro. He's a good crocodile,
09:26and he's just guarding his territory.
09:28And the freshies, by crikey, they can be a handful.
09:31Come all the way now, all the way, all the way.
09:33Oh, good girl.
09:35Now, I really wanted to show you these freshwater crocodiles.
09:39They'll be a little bit excitable from home
09:41because I've just brought in a white food bucket,
09:43but there you go.
09:45But then they're going to settle down,
09:47and these freshwater crocodiles,
09:50and these freshwater crocodiles were caught back in the 1970s.
09:54Steve and Bob caught them up in the Gulf of Carpentaria
09:57building a big dam up there.
09:59They were dynamiting a series of water holes,
10:01and the poor little freshwater crocodiles
10:03were getting blown up in the process.
10:05So Steve and Bob went up and rescued these freshies
10:07and brought them back here to Australia Zoo.
10:09When we mow the enclosure in here,
10:11I think, you know, sunning time for the crocodiles
10:13is a very, very important part of their day.
10:15So we try and come in here first thing in the morning
10:17and watch the crocodiles get out, run around, do the mowing,
10:19get that out of the way.
10:21That gives them the whole day to themselves.
10:23And finally, a demonstration of raw power.
10:31Isn't that awesome?
10:33Well, that's our crocodile.
10:35Thanks.
10:37Thanks a lot.
10:39Coming up, a very confused koala
10:42and a dangerous first aid for a deadly snake.
10:48♪♪♪
10:55Here we've got a beautiful little female koala
10:58and a big, boofy male koala.
11:00But what happens when the worlds collide?
11:04When you've got boy parts and girl parts
11:07all on the same koala?
11:09That's called being a hermaphrodite.
11:11And when that occurs, sometimes surgery is required.
11:14The doctor has determined we need to neuter this boy-girl koala
11:19so that there aren't any problems in the future
11:22with his boy bits.
11:25So that's what we're going to do.
11:27It's a condition that we've never seen before in a koala.
11:31Hi, koala. He's big.
11:33He's huge.
11:37Look at his googly eyes.
11:39Googly.
11:42Oh, I think he might be a little bit quiet.
11:45Look at you.
11:47Googly eyes. Look at your eyes.
11:49They're googly.
11:51Yep. Once I dislodge the claws from my left arm.
11:58Okay. Okay.
12:00Here, sweetie.
12:02They're not used to being held.
12:04Cured. Cured.
12:06No treatment.
12:08So what you're doing is you have a pouch.
12:11There's no teeth.
12:13And call him a he with a pouch.
12:15He's got a scent gland.
12:17Yeah, he's got a scent gland.
12:19No worries about health.
12:21Hermie was so happy that she started eating
12:24as soon as she arrived here at Australia Zoo.
12:27This poor little koala was hand-raised
12:30and can't be released back into the wild
12:32because it would be a confusing problem
12:34with other koalas at mating time.
12:36And we're getting advice from Dr. Chris, the vet,
12:39to work out what's the best thing to do.
12:42Bright-eyed, bushy tail.
12:44Yeah.
12:46Ate a lot.
12:47Yeah. As soon as he came in, he started eating.
12:49He doesn't have external testicles.
12:51No.
12:55He's not going to be a breeding animal.
13:00Come here, matey.
13:02Oh, sorry, Chris.
13:05There's a little teeth.
13:07Two little teeth.
13:09Is that what they would look like on an immature female?
13:12Yep.
13:14Is that the ringworm that he had?
13:16Yeah, he's got hair growth now.
13:22Sorry, Hermie.
13:24I don't know what the answer is,
13:26but I think it would be silly not to consider
13:29removing them.
13:31The figure's 15 times the chance of a normal testes
13:34becoming cancerous.
13:36So normal testes don't become cancerous that often.
13:39But again, not shockingly uncommon in older animals.
13:43And it's not a difficult thing?
13:45No, they're both pale before.
13:47It wouldn't be a difficult surgery.
13:49But, you know, it's a hard one
13:51because he's not a domestic animal
13:54and surgical intervention is not without its risks
13:57and it's not without its stresses as well.
14:00So you have to weigh all that up.
14:02So Hermie's going to end up closer to a girl than a boy
14:05and can look forward to a safe and comfortable life
14:08here at the zoo.
14:11Richard's about to give first aid
14:13to an incredibly dangerous eastern brown snake.
14:17Here he goes.
14:19He's in no mood to be mucked with
14:22and he's going ballistic.
14:26It's a band.
14:28Up.
14:32If this bloke tags Richard,
14:34he'll get injected by the second most deadly snake in the world.
14:37And on top of that, he's lightning fast and super cranky.
14:41If you ask me, that makes him number one contender
14:44for the most dangerous snake of all.
14:46Richard's got to wrangle him on the rubber pad
14:49so he can restrain him and get to the injury with safety.
14:54Bam, bam.
14:59Got him. Good work, Richard.
15:05It's a fine line between a safe, firm grip
15:08and not hurting the snake.
15:12And while they're working on the head,
15:14they'll be right in the firing line if he slips free.
15:20There's one injury on the jaw
15:22and now we can see a cut right next to the fangs.
15:29Oh, yeah. He's got a bit of a cut in his mouth.
15:38Oh, he's got a sore on his mouth there.
15:41It's a little bit swollen.
15:44Get squirted first. Get squirting.
15:46A little bit on the end there.
15:49Just on the bottom bit. See that bottom bit?
15:54Ah, that's a bit sore.
15:56A bit swollen.
15:58Just squirt it.
16:00Squirt it in.
16:02You're trying to do the bottom bit.
16:09That'll do him.
16:11That'll do. That'll do.
16:13Letting him go is just as dangerous as catching him in the first place.
16:17For a split second, Richard will be in the snake's deadly strike range.
16:22Are you ready? Get ready.
16:45Strewth, have a go at these good-looking blokes.
16:48Pretty good-looking specimens, ruggedly handsome, truly Australian.
16:53Wow.
16:55Let's just hold it there.
16:57How funny do you think it is with Brian getting fan mail?
17:04Some American girls sent me some fan mail.
17:07Really?
17:09Brian.
17:10You're getting fan mail now, mate.
17:12The girls are writing.
17:13The girls and I have been wanting to write to you since we got back from Australia.
17:18Aw, isn't that cute?
17:20We love you. We love you and your crocodiles.
17:24And if you come over, how much Mexican food can you eat?
17:28Wow, I'm coming with you.
17:30Is that what they said? I like Mexican food.
17:32You have to go to San Diego now.
17:34That's really nice. I've been to San Diego.
17:36Well, don't let them down. You're going back.
17:38You can't let them down.
17:40After the break, the zoo tested to the limit and a tazzy devil does real damage.
17:55Australia Day was huge.
17:58We broke every record for attendance that we ever set before.
18:02Now the next big holiday is going to be Easter.
18:06Can we cope?
18:08Easter should be even bigger and with free breakfast, live entertainment,
18:13stacks of demonstrations and exciting games for the kids,
18:17we know everybody who's anybody is going to be at Australia Zoo.
18:22Okay, I've just got everyone here.
18:24You know that this is probably going to be the next few days are going to be very, very hectic.
18:28It's Easter, of course, and it's probably our biggest time of the year.
18:31So I just wanted to run through a couple of things so this all runs as smoothly as we possibly can.
18:36Firstly, for croc demos, we're going to do three croc demos today, Briano.
18:40We need to probably hook up with Steve and find out which ones he wants to do today, tomorrow and Sunday and Monday.
18:46We need to do the old deal with moving people through if we do Grahams or whoever.
18:52So have at least three people helping you the way we always do with the radios and so on.
18:56So that all goes nice and clean.
18:58So most importantly, what we need to do is I've got a lot of extra staff on today.
19:02So everyone needs to go with reptiles, mammals, exotics and get everything in the zoo spot on.
19:13Woo, right from the start, it was obvious that this was going to be a steamer of a weekend
19:19with hundreds lined up before we even opened the gates.
19:23I built this new car park and you just filled it.
19:26Admissions is chock up. It's just a whole car park full of people that can't get in.
19:31They got a bit of a kick.
19:33We've got snakes and koalas.
19:35We've jammed every vehicle we can into the car park.
19:39It's a real test to see just how many cars we can accommodate.
19:44So it looks like the very next thing that they're going to have to build is another car park.
19:49We've changed shirts.
19:51It's animals to the rescue out there on the front line, giving everyone a preview of what's going on inside the gate.
20:01We need to find a cut-off point and go,
20:03OK, now everybody who's arriving at 10 o'clock, from you on, you have access to muffins, the breakfast is over.
20:09So everyone in line finishes and then from this person on, it's now 10 o'clock, bomb.
20:14We'll go through and give people a piece of pink paper or something along the way.
20:18That's it, your breakfast, that's it, you don't have pink paper, you don't get breakfast or something.
20:23Whatever, we'll cut a line or whatever.
20:26We've only got 200 muffins.
20:28They'll munch through this lot in no time at all.
20:31Zombies ship them blocks all day to get them all.
20:34Tina is doing the voucher so that at 10 o'clock, everyone gets a voucher and it's shut off.
20:40And then the only place muffins are going to be is at admissions.
20:43So that as people come in and pick up their lunches, they're going to get a voucher.
20:46And then we're going to go through and give everyone a piece of pink paper.
20:51And then the only place muffins are going to be is at admissions.
20:53So that as people come in and pick up their lunches, they're going to get a voucher.
20:55And then we're going to go through and give everyone a piece of pink paper.
20:57And then we're going to go through and give everyone a piece of pink paper.
21:04Yep, that'll work.
21:06Mrs. Herrera does the best muffins.
21:08We've got 200 a day.
21:09She's done 800 muffins for Easter.
21:17And Maria helped.
21:18She gave them all the stamp of approval.
21:31As well as all the Easter goodies, there's live music, a good old Aussie barbecue,
21:36and of course, all of our exciting educational shows, including the hard-hitting Saltwater Cross.
21:43Without further ado, I'll just hand you over to Siva.
21:491.30, we do agro. That's going to be heavy.
21:53And even if we do one crop tomorrow, we're going to have to do this guy or agro.
21:58There's no way we're going to be able to get anywhere else in.
22:01So we'll probably have to do Murray and Akko at 11 or something like that.
22:07Same time or something like that, yeah.
22:08At 11, and then go for 1.30, it'll have to be Graham or agro.
22:18I see you.
22:20Here you go, buddy.
22:22Here's an idiot.
22:27I see you, you're all here.
22:31Can I borrow your fences?
22:33Thanks very much for putting up with the crowded conditions.
22:37I built those ramps there just a couple of months ago.
22:40I've just finished the new car park, and you guys built it.
22:44Thanks for that.
22:51Thanks very much.
22:52Every other show, just as popular.
22:55Especially where our visitors can interact directly with the animals.
22:59And where they can take a close look at the world's deadliest venomous snakes.
23:05This is the largest in the world.
23:17And of course, there's always got to be at least one naughty boy to make life interesting.
23:29Did he hang on?
23:30Yeah, he went straight through the douche.
23:34There, he came up and just jumped, grabbed it, and then had to stick it in the air.
23:40Boy, crikey, those tazzy devils can bite.
23:42They can chomp straight through a cow's leg.
23:46I wouldn't want to have Corey's fingers right now.
23:49That's got to hurt.
23:53Okay, this is going to be nice and painful.
23:55Serious?
23:56Probably.
23:58Even though there's a bit of wear and tear on all of us at big times like Easter holidays,
24:02our aim is to make sure everyone has a good day.
24:10The big crocs get to use all the skills they would normally use in the wild during our feeding demonstrations.
24:16They get to show their power and cunning as they work to get a meal.
24:32Our love for the nature is the most important thing in the world.
24:57Guess how many?
24:59Well, somebody said around 3,000.
25:013,096.
25:03No way!
25:083,096?
25:10This deserves a big kiss.
25:17We did 3,096.
25:19That's 1,000 more than our last record.
25:24High five.
25:28Unbelievable.
25:29Why do I got a headache?
25:31I can't believe you got them all in and fed them.
25:38What's tomorrow going to be like?
25:39It won't be this big.
25:40Oh, no.
25:42In just a moment, overcoming a fear of snakes and an escapee has his wings clipped.
25:50That's one day of Easter down and more to go.
25:52The first day pushed us to the limits and now it's on again.
25:56At least we now know what to expect on a big holiday.
25:59But today there are extra surprises, even more challenges to overcome.
26:04This is our final contestant in the hunt to become the CFM Rock and Roll Chicken.
26:08Interestingly enough, Melissa is scared of creepy crawlies.
26:12So we're out here at the Crocodile Hunters Australia Zoo and she will be tackling a 130 kilo python.
26:21Oh, this is it.
26:23This is it.
26:28What does it feel like on your body?
26:30Apart from being really heavy, it's really strong. It's moving my legs now.
26:39Now, as I speak, our final contestant, or I should say,
26:43This is the worst job interview I've ever done.
26:47Is laying down on her back at the entrance to a Steve Irwin,
26:51The Crocodile Hunters Australia Zoo here at Biwa.
26:54And she has dazzled the python absolutely all over.
26:57You probably hear it in the background moaning and groaning.
26:59Melissa, you're a bit scared of the creepy crawling situation.
27:03How are you feeling at the moment?
27:05Oh, my God.
27:07Oh, my God.
27:08He's putting his hand near my face.
27:09He's licking me on the lips.
27:17Give him a kiss.
27:20Oh, it's in my ear.
27:22Crikey.
27:25She can say that again. Crikey.
27:28If we thought early Easter crowds were huge, Easter Sunday beat them hands down.
27:335,000 visitors came through the gate.
27:36A huge reward for all the work we've done expanding the zoo with bigger facilities,
27:41more animals, more contact with wildlife and even more wildlife demo.
27:59Okay, welcome into Australia Zoo.
28:02This is the crocodile that bit me most wet.
28:08Wildlife, he's got food poisoning now.
28:11Wes is doing all right.
28:12When you stride that, mate, you pull up your scarf.
28:14Have a look at the size of these.
28:18Hang on a minute.
28:22We don't know where he is.
28:23He's supposed to be here.
28:26Oh, you're a naughty boy, Graham.
28:29You see how hard this bloke is?
28:323,000 pounds per square inch.
28:35That's how much power crocodiles have got.
28:38And ask Wes just how much it hurts when they hit.
28:413,000 pounds per square inch meant when he bit Wes a minute ago.
28:59Even he a little goofy.
29:01We love Graham.
29:02Even though Wes still carries the scars and a bit of pain from Graham taking chunks of his thighs,
29:08he's right back into it, feeding the big bloke and challenging him to have another go.
29:24Terry and Bindi share the day with all of our visitors.
29:27A great family day.
29:28A day that has been an even greater success.
29:32What a great crocodile.
29:37Thanks for coming to Australia, too.
29:39And good on you, mate.
29:40Good on you.
29:54Chloe loves nothing better than to hang out with visitors to the zoo.
29:58She likes a scratch and a pat.
30:00But not all birds get to do that.
30:02In fact, Pete the cormorant is supposed to stay in his enclosure in the wetlands.
30:07But sometimes Pete's feathers get so long that he sneaks out.
30:12You're going to see what it's like to try to catch a cormorant on the loose.
30:17Pete is one cunning bird.
30:19Pretends he can't fly and the next thing he's outside lurking in the prickliest palm tree you can find.
30:29If Pete gets away, he's in heaps of trouble.
30:32He's a rehabilitated bird and hasn't got any idea about survival.
30:37Thanks, mate.
30:38Thanks, girls.
30:39Thanks.
30:40You'll be all right.
30:41We've got plenty of time.
30:42Does he move?
30:43You go at one side.
30:44I'll go at the other.
30:45I think that'll be the easiest.
30:46I mean, he's not...
30:47You want to try and keep him in those plants there.
30:49Otherwise, if he gets out, then he can go pretty quick along the ground.
30:54See if you can keep him occupied.
30:56Come around.
31:03Do you know the coolness of this?
31:09Sorry, mate.
31:10We've got to put you in today.
31:12You're down to 60.
31:13I think.
31:15Yep.
31:19He's over there.
31:20Sorry, Petey.
31:21We have to do it.
31:22Wind clipping doesn't hurt the bird and he'll be grounded for his own safety.
31:28I think we've got to just keep him contained somewhere for a minute until we decide...
31:34What's the best thing to do?
31:36Sorry.
31:38Sorry, mate.
31:41Welcome back up.
31:42That's fine.
31:43Yeah, lovely one.
31:44Sorry about that.
31:45We'll be back when world sporting legends mix it up with the reptiles.
31:53They're all under 25.
31:54Did you see that?
31:55Yeah.
31:56They're so tiki-tiki to us.
31:57They're all young.
31:59Hey, enjoy.
32:00I'm going to do snake photo this morning.
32:02Yeah.
32:03Yeah.
32:04What do I?
32:05Guess.
32:08Because you're down, but now I've cancelled you out.
32:12Because there's 20 girls from Utah.
32:14Boy, there's 25.
32:1540.
32:1640 girls from Utah, all rocked up.
32:18So, do you mind if he swaps with you?
32:20If 40 blokes from Utah rock up, you can go back on.
32:23When 40 guys from Utah rock up, I'll put you on their stick.
32:26Okay, Brian.
32:27I suppose.
32:29That's very nice of you.
32:41You alligators are really funny.
32:46Oh, I see you, Barney.
32:48Here's one bloke that you don't want to go surfing with.
32:51I've just heard that the surf's up, and I've had me mate, Kelly Slater,
32:55six times world champion in the zoo with the alligators.
32:59Have a go at this.
33:01Come here, you.
33:02Hey, how's it going?
33:04Hey, great.
33:05Nice to see you again.
33:06Hey, how are you?
33:07Hey, Kelly, how is it, mate?
33:10What happened?
33:11I don't know.
33:12I lost it.
33:13Oh, no.
33:16Hey, John, how are you, mate?
33:18How are you?
33:19How are you doing?
33:20Yeah, yeah.
33:22Hey, he's going.
33:23It's just this one croc.
33:24I'll have to wear him out a bit first.
33:26Because he's...
33:27Well, all the big soldiers are on fire at the moment.
33:29They're like...
33:30They're peaking.
33:32No, no, no, no.
33:34Trust me.
33:35Come on in.
33:37Brian, I just keep Fang 2 off our back.
33:39Come in, come in, mate.
33:40Come in.
33:44Come on, big fella.
33:45Got to fade to this side.
33:47There you go.
33:49There's a good, gentle boy.
33:52You go back and eat that.
33:53Back up, back up, back up.
33:59All right, you want to try this girl now?
34:01Come on, babe.
34:02Not you, big Barney.
34:03The thing is, mate, if she charges you,
34:05you actually run quicker backwards than she can come forward.
34:08Come on, babe.
34:09Barney, not you, dopey.
34:11These blokes are my heroes, and I love surfing,
34:14so having them here at the zoo is a real buzz.
34:18Toss me another one, mate.
34:21I reckon some of the gnarliest waves that Kelly handles
34:25takes more guts than feeding a few hungry alligators.
34:30How about Fang 1, mate?
34:31Are you ready for it?
34:32Kelly's nicely warmed up.
34:34He's really enjoying the adrenaline rush
34:36from being so close to an apex predator.
34:49Good stuff, and it seems we're going to catch up
34:52with another one of the world's all-time greatest surfers.
35:00Yeah, mate.
35:02Oh, hey, how you going, mate?
35:04Made it, eh?
35:05Yeah.
35:06Yeah, that's the guy.
35:07Yeah, nice one.
35:08Classic.
35:09Yeah, you, you're the classic, mate.
35:11I'm the lame one.
35:12Yeah, really, thank you for taking us here.
35:15While Tom's daughter is feeding flowers to our good old Harriet,
35:18it's time for something a bit more extreme.
35:25Come on, big fella.
35:27Come on, big fella.
35:30Come on then, hugs.
35:31Come on then, big fella.
35:32There's a good boy.
35:33There's a good croc.
35:38What a good boy.
35:39Tommy Carroll and Kelly Slater
35:41both want to feed Australia's hardest-hitting predator.
35:45A saltwater croc.
35:49Yeah, I can get you to feed him,
35:51but this is not like an alligator, mate, so...
35:55..no risks.
35:56But, you know, the routine, eh?
35:58When he sees the food, you're good.
36:00You're great.
36:01Just keep whittling it and he'll know it's the food.
36:03But I'll take the sting out of him first.
36:05Just slow him up a little.
36:06Come on then, Marty.
36:07Come on, hit it, buddy.
36:09There's a good boy.
36:11There you go.
36:12Come on, come on, come on.
36:13There's a good boy.
36:14Good boy.
36:15All right.
36:22Yep, and make no mistake,
36:24this crocodile will kill him and eat him
36:27if he gets half a chance.
36:35You're good, mate.
36:36He's staring at the food.
36:40Ooh.
36:45Ooh.
36:48Yeah!
36:49Good stuff.
36:55Just work with...
36:56You just work with Brian, eh, yeah?
37:04Just move in a bit closer, Tommy.
37:06That's it, he's got you.
37:08Where is he?
37:12Yo.
37:13Oh, yeah.
37:24Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
37:2840.
37:33Norwegian girls.
37:34Oh, the Norwegian girls.
37:38Oh, yeah.
37:41Let me tell you about Bali.
37:44They go to me, um...
37:46Are you, like, the young croc hunter?
37:48Yeah, that's it.
37:49Oh, yeah.
37:51Brian, he's demeaning.
37:53Brian's like a brother.
37:55Taught me everything I know.
37:56About crocs did Brian.
37:59Another sports star,
38:00American sprinter Marion Jones.
38:03What do we have over here?
38:05Oh, yeah, this is a Burmese fighter.
38:08Bindi's kissing it on the lips,
38:10so that should reassure
38:11the fastest woman in the world.
38:13That's pretty well safe.
38:18No, no, you're all right.
38:20She's pretty heavy, isn't she?
38:22Here you go, mate.
38:26It's great to see our special guests
38:28come to the zoo to see our wildlife
38:30and leave with once-in-a-lifetime experience.
38:34Here you are.
38:35Hey, sweetheart.
38:36Are you gonna talk?
38:37Are you gonna talk?
38:39Wanna kiss?
38:41They're good kissers.
38:43Except for that camel breath, mate.
38:45And after the camels,
38:46Marion meets the cutest animal
38:49followed by the deadliest.
38:50Does that kill me?
38:51No.
38:52Well, here's hoping.
38:58How you doing there, buddy?
38:59Very sharp claws.
39:01How's the smell, eh?
39:02Just smells like gum.
39:03Gum leaves.
39:04Yeah.
39:05Beautiful.
39:07People view snakes as just an evil, ugly monster,
39:10but what I've learnt
39:12is that they're just like people, you know?
39:14They've got personalities.
39:15Some are good, some are bad.
39:17Some are tall, some are blonde.
39:19And this, Wes ensures, is a quiet one.
39:25Just see.
39:28Yeah, no worries.
39:34So, Marion, I'd like to bestow you
39:36the greatest honour on the face of the earth.
39:38Come over here, mate.
39:39Like, trust me.
39:40You'll have to trust me.
39:42Yep.
39:43Yep, just drop your bottle of water there
39:45and I'll let you hang on to it.
39:47What you gotta do, mate,
39:48is, um, see, I don't actually grab it.
39:50I just let it go through my hands, yeah?
39:55So just gently put your hand under there.
39:58Ooh, he's looking at me.
39:59Yeah, and use the other one
40:01just to support his body.
40:03That's it, that's good.
40:05Do we need FedEx to bring the venom?
40:07Yeah.
40:08You're doing pretty well.
40:10The fierce snake has the deadliest venom
40:12on the face of the planet.
40:14But have a go at him.
40:15He's like a little pussycat.
40:25Stay with us for some very special guests
40:28who break the record.
40:34Australia Zoo is all about the family.
40:36There's nothing more important in this world.
40:39And we're run by a family,
40:41and we cater for families.
40:43And by crikey, there's nothing more important
40:45in my daughter's life than the Wiggles.
40:48I love the Wiggles!
40:50Me too!
40:51Woo!
40:53Hey, it's Captain Fiddlestick!
40:55Me too!
40:58Hey, it's Captain Fiddlestick!
41:00Crocodile Hunter, it's a good one.
41:03Crocodile Hunter, action.
41:06Crocodile Hunter, ten, two.
41:09Rocky, it's a croc.
41:10I'll save it for ten.
41:12Khaki shorts, khaki shorts.
41:15Short sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt.
41:18Jumbo boots, jumbo boots.
41:21Running in the grass, and wrestling in the dirt.
41:24You guys want to come in here and have a go?
41:27Crocodile Hunter, it's a good one.
41:30Crocodile Hunter, action.
41:33Crocodile Hunter, ten, two.
41:36Crikey, it's a croc with razor sharp teeth.
41:42I'm scared. I'm behind two steel rails.
41:45Here.
41:47Anthony's practicing with lizards.
41:49Yeah, I'm going to practice with lizards that big.
41:52What a treat for Bindi and all our visitors.
41:55We've got a live show for the kids right here at the zoo.
41:58Hello, everybody.
42:00Hello.
42:01We're going to sing the Croc Rock song with everybody now.
42:04Join me with us, everybody.
42:06Here we go, everybody.
42:09Captain Feathersore fell asleep on his pirate ship
42:13when he woke up on a bomb.
42:16Oh, my goodness me.
42:18We're roosters and ducks singing this song.
42:22Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
42:24Can't get to you.
42:26Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
42:29The Wiggles have enjoyed huge success here in Australia
42:32and now they're spreading their special talent
42:34to other parts of the world.
42:36Good on you, fellas.
42:37Quack, quack, can't get to you.
42:39Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
42:42Can't get to you.
42:44Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
42:47Woo-hoo!
42:49Quack, quack, everyone. Well done.
42:52Hey, everyone, come for a walk around the Australia Zoo.
42:56There's always things to do.
42:57There's a crocodile, there's a kangaroo,
42:59there's a speedo and two.
43:01There's always so many things to do
43:04here on the Galapagos Zoo.
43:07Lots of animal adventures too at the Australia Zoo.
43:11The sun is shining, the sky is blue
43:14here on the Galapagos Zoo.
43:16The dingoes howl, the owls woo-hoo
43:19at the Australia Zoo.
43:21Crocodiles and camels, marsupials and mammals.
43:26Hi, I've been helping Steve with the dingoes.
43:29I've been helping Steve with the kangaroos.
43:31I've been helping Steve with the koalas.
43:33I've been helping Steve with the owls.
43:35Hey, guess what I've been helping Steve with?
43:38The crocodiles!
43:40There's always so many things to do
43:43here on the Galapagos Zoo.
43:46Lots of animal adventures too at the Australia Zoo.
43:50Lots of animal adventures too at the Australia Zoo.
43:55At the Australia Zoo.
44:06In the next episode of Croc Diaries,
44:08construction of the new zoo causes chaos.
44:12A very disturbing wallaby rescued.
44:15Every snake in the place is moo.
44:45Croc Diaries
