00:00And now, stand by for adventure in the exciting story of Squeak and the Terrible Termite.
00:29In his cave on Zero Zero Island, Scratch awoke each morning just as the first sunbeam peeked
00:40through.
00:41He would yawn, then reach for his trusty wooden club to be sure it was ready for the day's
00:47adventures.
00:49Colonel Bleak in his laboratory was up early, just in time to silence that noisy bird in
00:58the wooden clock before it could finish its morning call, because in his little dream
01:02house Squeak would still be sound asleep in his cozy bed.
01:07This morning, however, things began in a very different way.
01:13When Scratch yawned and reached for his wooden club, it was missing.
01:19Only a few crumbs of sawdust remained.
01:23When Bleak got up to silence the cuckoo clock, something was very wrong indeed.
01:30Only the metal springs, gears, and numerals were left.
01:34Every wooden part of that clock had vanished, even the cuckoo.
01:40Bleak and Scratch rushed to awaken Squeak, but the little puppet's bed was empty and
01:44Squeak himself was nowhere to be found.
01:48The only clue was a trail of unusual footprints, which Bleak recognized immediately.
01:53Only yesterday in his lab, the colonel had seen those very same footprints, only much
01:58smaller in size.
02:00Following the tracks, he had discovered a tiny wood-eating insect called a termite,
02:05but Bleak was amazed to find that this particular termite had traces of interplanetary wood
02:11dust on its wings.
02:14Something strange was going on.
02:16Somehow by some strange power, a tiny termite had grown overnight into a giant monster.
02:22There was no doubt, a wood-eating monster of tremendous size was on the loose.
02:27Poor Squeak, the little wooden puppet, had been captured by a giant termite, a terrible
02:33termite.
02:35The colonel sped into action.
02:37Using futomic energy, he quickly made for Scratch a brand new club, not of wood, but
02:45of solid lead, one of the heaviest, most malleable metals commonly used by man.
02:49Thus, Armed, Bleak, and Scratch hurriedly followed the footprints to rescue their little
02:53friend.
02:54Suddenly, they were upon him.
02:56There was the great insect sprinkling salt on the poor wooden puppet, who lay bound on
03:00a huge platter.
03:01This was a time for quick thinking and fast action.
03:03With caveman strength, Scratch molded his heavy but malleable metal club into a statue
03:08that looked exactly like Squeak, and as the termite turned to put away the salt, Scratch
03:13quickly substituted the metal statue for the real puppet, and at the same time, Bleak charged
03:18the statue with a bolt of futomic lightning.
03:25Then the terrible termite turned, and in one hungry gulp, swallowed the charged statue.
03:32With a howl of pain, the monster leaped into the sea to cool off, but the weight of that
03:39heavy metal statue pulled him down, down, down, 50 fathoms under.
03:46So once again, peace was restored to Zero Zero Island, and while Scratch fashioned a
03:52new wooden club, and Colonel Bleak prepared the cuckoo clock, little Squeak snoozed soundly
03:58in his cozy little bed, tired from his exciting adventure, and completely unaware that even
04:06greater danger lay ahead.
