PENCAK SILAT CIMANDE MARTIAL ARTS SCIENCE

  • last week
In West Java, Pencak Silat emerged in the XVII century with the birth of Pencak Cimande. This Pencak Silat is the oldest school of ibing pencak in Pasundan. As the founder of this school during the reign of Aria Wiratanu Datat as the 5th Regent of Cianjur, it is called Cimande because it was born in Cimande area.
Around the 18th century in Cikalong Kulon, Cianjur Regency, a new school of Pencak Silat emerged, pioneered by Haji Ibrahim. In accordance with the area where it was born, this flow is called the Cikalongan flow. The Pencak Silat schools that developed in Karawang are Cimande and Cikalong schools.
Pencak Silat is an art form in which the presentation is full of games or martial arts agility. This type of art is often also called maenpo, usik or ibing pencak.
Pencak dance or pencak kembang is different from pencak silat. The content of pencak kembang in the moves used is solely for aesthetic purposes. Here the beauty of the movement is prioritised. Meanwhile, pencak silat contains moves for self-defence purposes. Therefore, the movements in pencak silat as self-defence are done to protect themselves and attack.
Another case with ibing pencak movements which are only specifically intended for satisfaction or pleasure both for the perpetrators and for their fans. Pencak Silat is usually performed on an arena stage, either on a dirt floor or on a bulandongan stage. The form of presentation can be done singly, in pairs (two people) and in groups or masses.
