00:00Some residents in the coastal area, in Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila, were affected by the severe typhoon.
00:07That's what Louisa Erispe reported.
00:11Ryan is still not sure how their house was affected by the typhoon Karina last month.
00:16But his problem is getting worse.
00:19Because it was just the beginning of September, they were hit by a new typhoon
00:24that completely destroyed his home and his family.
00:42Ryan is one of the residents in the coastal area in Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila
00:47who was affected by the typhoon Enteng.
00:50It wasn't just the typhoon that hit them.
00:53It was the wind that made a big wave that hit their houses.
00:59Here where I live, there are 30 houses that are built here.
01:04But because of the strong wind and the wave, the only things left in the houses are post and wood.
01:12But aside from the big wave, another thing that affected the residents in Tondo
01:17is the damaged barge on the old side to Sabaseco.
01:20Some of the families were only able to reach the evacuation centers
01:24because their house was completely destroyed by the damaged barge.
01:30When the barge hit us, we saw it.
01:33It was already paddling here.
01:35It was our first time in 21 years.
01:39It's hard to celebrate Christmas without us.
01:41Where are we now?
01:43We can't afford to buy food, especially for our students.
01:48Where can we buy food?
01:51According to the Manila LGU,
01:54around 3 p.m., more than 30 families were evacuated from Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.
02:00They are now staying at H.J. Atienza Elementary School
02:04where they are given food, water, and temporary shelter.
02:10But if there are evacuees,
02:12they are still allowed to stay in their houses even if it rains.
02:16We are used to it because it happens every year.
02:20We did not evacuate because we are used to it.
02:24The house is high and we are just taking care of the lower part.
02:28It's hard to leave because there are a lot of people here if there are no people in the house.
02:33As of now, according to the Manila LGU,
02:36only Baseco is affected by the rain because of the rain.
02:39But the local government is still on guard
02:42in case the rain continues to pour after the typhoon.
02:47Luisa Erispe for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
