The trio reunite to discuss Newcastle's Spurs win.
Liam also has a few things to say about singing, dancing CEOs.
Transcript
00:00They don't need somebody, look at me, I'm going to sing a song.
00:03They don't want that. We've had all that before.
00:05Those doubts are only amplified when your CEO, the man in charge,
00:11acts in the way he has in his public persona.
00:15All of a sudden when Fabian Share comes into the team,
00:17Joe Linton knows I can make a run, I can make a run, he'll find us.
00:21La, la, la, la, la, la, la, Jordie.
00:27Jordie Juneau's back here at St Joseph's Park,
00:29back with Liam Kennedy, back where you belong Liam.
00:32I was on the live for anybody watching.
00:33Oh yes, of course, back as a threesome.
00:36It went in some strange directions, I'm not going to lie to you, it did.
00:39We got some praise for my tan, my Egypt tan.
00:42It is a good tan.
00:43Is it, do you like it?
00:44It is a good tan, it was the first thing I noticed when we walked in.
00:45You did, you mentioned it, yeah, and I got some hairline slaughter.
00:48Terrible.
00:49I did, and it was raining as well,
00:51so I was joking that there was a little swimming pool
00:53forming for the flies on top of me.
00:55You guys used to be nice in the old days.
00:57Hey, I know, what's happening YouTube?
01:02Well.
01:02What's happening at Cassie United?
01:04Well, they can't lose at the moment.
01:07Let's not talk about the off-field stuff yet,
01:09let's just focus on the football.
01:10Exactly, they can't lose, I'm beating start of the season,
01:13seven points from nine in the Premier League
01:16through to the third round of the Cowboy Cup.
01:19Today, for large parts, it looked like they may not win,
01:22and performance-wise, still a lot to be desired,
01:25but hey, there's something that can be taken from a side
01:28that aren't playing well,
01:29and Newcastle have probably not played well for four games now,
01:32yet have won two of them,
01:35one on penalties and drawn another,
01:37and I thought today, they didn't play well for large parts,
01:40but they took the chances when they came their way,
01:42and Tottenham will be heading back to North London,
01:45very disappointed they didn't win,
01:47but Newcastle, after a very tough summer,
01:49now look and go, we're in the international break now,
01:52we're unbeaten,
01:54and that's a good result today against a direct rival.
01:56No, I think they're great.
01:57I think, we're talking about hairlines,
01:59I think I had a lot more hair at the start of the season.
02:01I need to get my hair cut.
02:02I need some of your hair.
02:05I think I had more hair at the start of the season.
02:08I think it was exasperating, that.
02:10I thought, in equal measure, it was exasperating.
02:13At Forest, it was more so,
02:15I've only seen 45 minutes of Bournemouth,
02:17but the 45 minutes I saw was grim.
02:20It hasn't been pretty for Newcastle United this season.
02:23That's not maybe an overly negative,
02:24being a doom-monger or whatever,
02:27but purely on the football things, it's been awful.
02:30Awful?
02:31Aye, I do think it has.
02:32I think there's been patches of positivity.
02:35I thought that last 20 minutes against Forest
02:37was probably the closest we'd seen
02:39to the Newcastle United of all.
02:40I didn't see the second half of Bournemouth.
02:42You guys reported it really well.
02:43I think the things did massively improve.
02:45I didn't see that.
02:46From what I've seen this season,
02:48that today was, I think it showed in many ways,
02:50I'm so happy with the result.
02:52It was a massive week.
02:53They needed to get a result,
02:55but if we're just going to focus on the performance,
02:57I've never seen a more back foot,
03:00less, a back foot Newcastle United at home
03:04than what I've seen this season.
03:05They played two games,
03:06and there was caveats to the first one,
03:08the red card so early,
03:10but against Southampton and Tottenham, Newcastle United,
03:12I don't know what the possession stats say,
03:14but it felt, it's so one-sided.
03:17Yeah, 33 and 22.
03:17Tottenham were levels above Newcastle United,
03:20the way they functioned today as a team,
03:23but there was lots of positives to take from it
03:25in that respect that I get the old adage,
03:27they haven't played well and got results.
03:28Results are all that matters in this game.
03:31Performances are so far off.
03:33It actually fills us with a little bit of positivity
03:35to think that imagine when Anthony Gordon's firing,
03:39imagine when Alexander Isak is getting those chances
03:42that he's been so accustomed to at Newcastle United,
03:44imagine when Harvey Barnes is even more involved in this team,
03:48because I thought that's the best couple of performances
03:51I've seen from Harvey Barnes was Nottingham Forest,
03:53and that again today, I thought it was really effective.
03:55He's got a Bournemouth as well, you wouldn't have seen it.
03:57The second half of Bournemouth, he was the game-changer.
03:59Yeah, and yet he started it.
04:01And we've critiqued him in the past
04:02about where does he fit into this team,
04:04and I think really he's starting to find a real home.
04:08I think Anthony Gordon doesn't look right on the right.
04:11I would actually play Barnes there, in my opinion.
04:14Yeah, I would, I would.
04:16I'm not massive on this inverted wingers thing.
04:18I get the concept why you play inverted wingers in football.
04:21Wingers used to provide bullets for strikers.
04:23There aren't really that many out-and-out strikers in the game anymore,
04:26and the reason being is because most people play inverted wingers.
04:29The reason you want inverted wingers
04:30is because they're cutting into score goals,
04:32so your goals effectively come more from wide than they do in centre.
04:34That's just the way football has gone over the last 10 to 15 years,
04:38and that's fine.
04:40But I still think there's a place for quality,
04:42and your casting agents' quality from three
04:44is that from three at the start of the day.
04:46I think it's hard to argue that anybody else gets a place in there.
04:50I think it's one way of addressing short-term the right forward situation.
04:53It is.
04:54Which is, if you're going to play your three best attackers,
04:56they are your three best attackers.
04:57I think that £145 million worth of talent
05:00that your casting agents spend on transfer fees for them three.
05:03So yeah, I think in the short term, at least January,
05:07then you probably are just better off paying your best players
05:09and finding their home for Harvey Barnes,
05:11and I would agree, I think Harvey Barnes would probably be more suited down the right,
05:14although he's got that trademark cutting side,
05:16which, to be fair, he's finished the day was really, really good.
05:19That's what he got in front of the defender.
05:21Didn't deserve to be taken off.
05:23No, he didn't.
05:23No, but for 10 minutes it looked like that was a terrible decision
05:28when Jacob Murphy did nothing but give the ball away,
05:30but then made the crucial run, got his head up well.
05:34How many times has Jacob Murphy hit those shots straight to the goalkeeper?
05:36No, gets his head up, slides it in to Alexander Isak,
05:39beats the offside trap.
05:41Great work from him, and Eddie Howe gave credit to Jacob Murphy
05:44for the impact he made and was impressed with Harvey Barnes as well,
05:47who, I mean, the last time he started a game was the last game of last season,
05:52I mean, in the Premier League, and he scored then as well.
05:54He brings goals.
05:55He brings goals.
05:56His game is a good finisher, isn't he?
05:57And it was a well-timed run.
05:58It was credit as well to Lloyd Kelly, who I thought,
06:02look, he's had a mixed start.
06:03You don't know how fit he is.
06:04He didn't play a lot of pre-season,
06:06but I thought that was his best half of football.
06:08He was really good in the first half.
06:09Probably the best player in the first half.
06:11He was.
06:11Second half, he dipped a little bit,
06:12but I thought that was actually probably true of a lot of players.
06:15You looked at Dan Burnham that first half,
06:16thought, oh, he's having a really good game of the day,
06:19and then he went all the pot in the second half to be fair.
06:22He had a couple of moments before the own goal where I was like,
06:25no, he's still doing well.
06:27He's emerging, and then he gave the ball away, didn't he?
06:30That one where his control drew the forward,
06:32and then he passed it to nobody.
06:35Look, that's the thing that really stood out to me today,
06:39is individual errors.
06:40I think you can't say it this season.
06:41Individual errors are costing them so badly.
06:45Probably not, though.
06:46No, I thought it did.
06:47I thought the goal was the goals of Bournemouth,
06:49particularly the first one.
06:50That was like, it's like people giving the ball away,
06:52like Joe Linton there in that position.
06:54These individual errors are happening all the time.
06:55Anthony Gordon did it.
06:56Bruno did it.
06:57Dan Burn did it.
06:59It literally, everybody did it a day,
07:00and it was like,
07:01although Spurs were good with the ball,
07:04controlled the game,
07:04controlled all of the areas of the pitch,
07:07apart from that really high line,
07:08which I'm sure we'll come on to,
07:11what they didn't,
07:12Newcastle United did was made it easy for them.
07:13Like, they kept giving them the ball back constantly,
07:16and until Newcastle United get a hold of games
07:18and start retaining the ball really well,
07:21and that's why I think Fabian Scherr
07:23comes back into this team and improves it.
07:25Kieran Tripp, yeah, even though a team I've ever met,
07:26I thought was actually really good today,
07:28they missed that quality from the back.
07:30Players who are able to pass through
07:32first lines of defence,
07:33Newcastle don't have that.
07:34It's the sideways,
07:35it's Pope to the full back,
07:37back into the centre half,
07:38back over to the other side,
07:39and then all of a sudden,
07:40there's four swarmed on the opposite full back,
07:42and you can't get out.
07:43It's either lob up the line or give the ball away,
07:46and it's happening all the time.
07:47I think Fabian Scherr makes a big difference
07:49in that respect,
07:50because all of a sudden,
07:51when Fabian Scherr comes into the team,
07:53Joe Linton knows,
07:54I can make a run,
07:55I can make a run,
07:56he'll find us.
07:56Same for Anthony Gordon,
07:57I'll stick wide,
07:58or Harvey Barnes,
07:59whoever it may be.
08:00They don't have that.
08:00Dan Byrne's not going to do it.
08:02Emile Kraft doesn't pass any further than five yards.
08:04It literally,
08:05they can't get out.
08:06But what I would say on that as well,
08:07I would give Emile Kraft a lot of credit, actually.
08:09Yeah, yeah.
08:09I actually thought he was probably...
08:10He was alright the day when he...
08:11The better of the two centre halves,
08:12and there was only two,
08:13but he was the better of the two centre halves.
08:16He did have credit the day,
08:16although he was decent the day.
08:18He's been steady all season,
08:19Emile Kraft.
08:19He has been.
08:20He's got limitations.
08:21He's had moments,
08:22yeah, like any defender does,
08:24but he's been,
08:25he's come in,
08:26having not played,
08:26Eddie Howe gave credit to him.
08:28He very rarely played as a centre-back in a back four.
08:31Whenever he's played centre-back previously,
08:32he's been in a back three,
08:33so it's an unnatural,
08:34it's a new role for him,
08:36and Newcastle haven't,
08:38I mean, they have missed Fabian Scherr,
08:39but it hasn't been as damaging as it could have been.
08:42The way it all set up the day,
08:44he was having to do a lot of one,
08:45particularly in that first half,
08:46from memory,
08:47do a lot of one-on-one defending,
08:48because Liveromental was pushed right forward
08:50to sort of,
08:51I think they were trying to pin back that Adoge,
08:53weren't they,
08:53who makes such a big difference,
08:55who didn't really have much of a game today,
08:57even though Tottenham had a lot of the ball,
08:59so that kind of worked.
09:00There was a lot of tactical nuance to the game.
09:02You pointed out very early
09:03that Joe Linton was doing a lot of tucking in
09:06on the left-hand side.
09:07It was like almost what Elliot Arnson
09:09had to do in the game last season,
09:10as you said.
09:11Yeah, he was,
09:14as the game progressed,
09:14he sort of came more inside,
09:16I thought,
09:16but the start out with a clear plan,
09:18essentially,
09:18for what I thought was essentially two wing-backs,
09:20where you would have
09:22Liveromental
09:24and Joe Linton was essentially tucking in
09:26on that left-hand side.
09:28With a back three.
09:30Yeah, but on Joe Linton as well,
09:31I mean, incredible bit of...
09:33He was class for the goal.
09:34Yeah, a moment of class
09:36when he sort of just spun James Maddison
09:37and put the ball through.
09:38I always panic when he gets the ball in those positions,
09:41because sometimes his quality on the ball isn't great,
09:44but he actually drew...
09:45It was a moment like that
09:46that led to the goal against Bournemouth,
09:48because he conceded possession,
09:50but he took the risk and it paid off.
09:51He was brave,
09:52and he drew Maddison in,
09:53who you know you're not really
09:54going to get a challenge from Maddison,
09:55so he just shrugged him off
09:57and then set Murphy free
09:58with a great ball through.
10:00It was real quality from Joe Linton,
10:02which is something I think he's lacked
10:03in the last two games.
10:05Showed a real quality on the ball.
10:06He's a better player,
10:07there's a lot of these Newcastle players,
10:08they're actually better players here
10:10than they ever are away from home,
10:11and that's just still something that has to change.
10:14We're going to a run now of three...
10:16It's three consecutive away games?
10:18Yeah, including the Wimbledon one, yeah.
10:19Including Wimbledon.
10:21And you'd have to hope the bare minimum
10:23out of that was you want to get
10:24four points in progression, don't you?
10:26That would be your bare minimum
10:27out of those two games, I would say.
10:29If you've got ambitions to be up towards
10:30where Tottenham will be this season...
10:32Those are two away games,
10:33the Wolves and Fulham.
10:34Fulham, yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:35They've had some good results at Fulham
10:36in recent years, but...
10:38They don't play well at Wolves.
10:39No, they don't play well at Wolves.
10:40They were poor there last year,
10:41although I think it was just after Milan, wasn't it?
10:44Yeah, it's one of the challenges.
10:45Yeah, there was a lot of energy
10:46expended there in Milan, I think.
10:48So I'm hoping for better,
10:49and Wolves have been poor this season.
10:51So you'd hope that's three points.
10:52Get a draw at Fulham,
10:53I think they'd be ticking along nicely.
10:55As long as they beat Wimbledon, of course,
10:57which hasn't been a happy hunt
10:58at ground for any casting out,
10:59but this is a totally different
11:01set of circumstances, you would imagine.
11:04But if you do do that,
11:05imagine you go seven games
11:08unbeaten at the start of the season
11:09and go into that Man City game,
11:11you'd be flying.
11:12I think this place would be buzzing by then.
11:13Well, you even saw today,
11:15momentum, confidence is key.
11:17Newcastle were so under the cosh today,
11:21and then the score against the run of play,
11:23and then they see the game out quite easily
11:25in the end, like they're on top.
11:28It didn't feel like it was,
11:29you know, we'll have these games
11:30where it's like, it's coming.
11:31And it was a couple of times today,
11:32it was like, it's coming.
11:33Every time I felt the goal was coming,
11:34we went and scored.
11:35It was bizarre, wasn't it?
11:36It was like, strange.
11:37But the momentum shifted so much
11:39with the goal today,
11:40and Newcastle were able
11:41to just grind out the win.
11:44But Eddie Howard admitted fitness is an issue
11:46for the entire team.
11:47He said they're not performing
11:48how he wants them to.
11:50I mean, I suppose it's pre-season.
11:52Yeah, it was a bit of a jaded pre-season, wasn't it?
12:03Is Darren Eales presenting
12:04the best version of himself
12:05that he possibly can be?
12:06I've written a piece for Newcastle World
12:08that you guys have read as well,
12:10that I don't think he is.
12:12I think feelers at Newcastle
12:14ain't got to fall on Darren Eales' show.
12:16He's the gaffer.
12:18There was four people working underneath him
12:20who then filtered down to the football side,
12:22the commercial side,
12:23the infrastructure side with Brad Miller,
12:25other bits of the football club.
12:26They all feed into Darren Eales.
12:28And although the football club
12:30is worth more on paper,
12:31although things are moving forward,
12:33we're yet to see any tangible progress
12:35with regards to anything
12:36apart from signing players at times,
12:38which didn't happen at all this summer.
12:40So I think Darren Eales,
12:42I've said it before,
12:43and I'll say it again on here
12:44for anybody who didn't see that,
12:46I'd urge you to go to newcastleworld.com
12:47and check it out.
12:48But I think Newcastle United
12:50have not needed a drinking buddy.
12:52Newcastle United do not need a fan's friend.
12:56Newcastle United yearned for a decade and a half
12:59to be run like a professional football club
13:02and they didn't need that.
13:03The club to me is more connected now
13:06to the fans than it probably ever has been
13:08because it feels like there's direction
13:10to some respect.
13:11I think there's been movements
13:13off that course in recent times.
13:15Because of the changes,
13:16but everybody kind of still feels
13:18like progress is wanted.
13:19Whether that progress will be quick enough,
13:20I don't know.
13:21Darren Eales didn't need
13:22to do the connect thing.
13:23The club's media team allow you
13:25to see more of Eddie Howe,
13:26see more of the footballer,
13:27see more, the fans are more connected.
13:30They don't need a happy clapper CEO.
13:34They don't need somebody,
13:35look at me, I'm going to sing a song.
13:37They don't want that.
13:38We've had all that before.
13:40It's rubbish.
13:40I don't like it.
13:43I think it's not befitting
13:44of a man in that position
13:46at this football club.
13:46They wanted somebody to come in
13:48and be Mr Professional.
13:49Now he, I'm sorry, Jordan.
13:51No, no, go on.
13:52I was going to say,
13:53I think all the singing and dancing
13:55from Darren Eales is fine
13:56when things are going well.
13:58I think there's a time and a place for it.
13:59I don't.
14:00You don't like it at all?
14:01No, I don't like it at all.
14:02I just think back 12 months ago,
14:04whatever, longer,
14:05when he's singing it before Wembley.
14:06No one had a problem then.
14:07No, but I think he did a little bit.
14:09I had a problem.
14:11Him pretending to be drunk,
14:12spilling things out on the green man floor,
14:14drinking this, that and the other.
14:15I thought that was wrong then
14:17and I still stand by it wrong now.
14:18I don't want a Newcastle United man.
14:20That man sits up there
14:22and he's got to make sure
14:23that the man here today,
14:24Yasi El-Rumayyan,
14:25writes the right checks for Newcastle United.
14:27He could be the, look,
14:28this is what we don't know about Darren Eales.
14:29Now I've had a lot of time.
14:30I haven't spent a lot of time.
14:32That's not what I was going to say.
14:33I've got a lot of time for him
14:35when he spends the time with us
14:36because he's really positive
14:37about Newcastle United
14:39and he's been really courteous
14:42and good and spoke to all of us
14:44and I like him.
14:45But I just want to see a more professional side.
14:47I want to see somebody
14:49who does the deals,
14:50does the work
14:51and he might do that
14:52or this might just be a little act.
14:54It might be,
14:55I'm doing this to kind of keep the fans on side
14:58but I actually don't think the fans respect that.
15:00Fans I speak to want what I've said.
15:02They want Mr Professional
15:04and they don't need somebody
15:06to put their arm around them in the pub
15:07and go, I'll have a drink with you.
15:09That's what Mike Ashley did
15:10and that's the problem.
15:12It connects so much.
15:14We don't want Mike Ashley.
15:16We don't want the chances
15:17that Sunderland had down the road
15:18where they were in the pub
15:19with everybody buying pints.
15:21Mike Ashley going to the big market
15:23and spilling drinks out for everybody
15:25and Blue Bamboo.
15:26That's not what we want.
15:27We don't need that.
15:28We want somebody who's ultra professional.
15:30I've never seen anybody
15:31from Man City set up
15:33or the most successful football club
15:35the way they've set themselves up
15:36on this planet
15:38over recent time
15:38because of what they've done
15:39on and off the field.
15:41Nobody from Man City
15:42is spilling out of bars
15:44singing songs.
15:44It doesn't happen.
15:45They run like a professional football club.
15:47I just want Newcastle to do the same
15:49and that's not a big personal criticism
15:50because like I say
15:51if he's then doing the job off it
15:53you can forgive a little bit of that.
15:55I still don't like it though.
15:56That's what I was trying to say.
15:57We went and talked about Darren
15:58and you were singing and dancing on the stage
15:59of this summer transfer window as well.
16:01So that has to be-
16:02I was.
16:04I wrote that before.
16:05Yeah, you-
16:05But that was because the summer transfer window
16:07wasn't going well.
16:08Nah.
16:10And I just didn't like
16:11the whole four drunk thing.
16:13I'm one of the lads.
16:15I just-
16:15I just don't respect it
16:17because I'm not doing it in my-
16:19I'm not doing it in my
16:20you know
16:21line of work.
16:22We'll have a drink like anybody else
16:24and he's entitled to that.
16:24No problem.
16:25But I don't like the act.
16:27I don't like the idea of the act.
16:30Pretending to be something you're not.
16:32You're-
16:33Is he pretending to you?
16:34Yeah, he's a chief executive
16:35who runs football clubs.
16:37Act like one.
16:38Chief executives who run football clubs
16:40do the right thing all the time.
16:42I don't think that's the right thing
16:42and I think
16:43in his head
16:44or anybody that's advising him
16:45he probably thinks
16:46it's building a connect with fans.
16:48I think it's doing the opposite.
16:49I think people are looking at it and going
16:51even though they weren't saying it
16:52you're seeing a lot of them say it now
16:53after the piece that
16:54that was written.
16:56I agree with you.
16:57Yeah, I don't like that.
16:58I don't think he sees that
16:59and I hope he takes that on board
17:01and says, right, this is
17:03this is something I need to change.
17:04He probably has.
17:04He won the staff today.
17:06Whereas he was last game.
17:08He couldn't have won the staff today.
17:09No.
17:10But that's rubbish though.
17:12So if you're going to do that
17:13then you have to do it all the time.
17:16You kind of pick and choose like
17:17I'm going to do it.
17:18It's the first game back.
17:19It's opening of the staff to be fair.
17:20I think he was well within his way.
17:21Yeah, that's fair but
17:24There's a time and a place
17:24for Darren Hughes's singing and dancing.
17:26That's all I'm saying.
17:27Not at all.
17:28Yeah.
17:29Where are you on this one?
17:30He says yes, I say no.
17:31I'm more on your side a little bit.
17:33I mean, I think
17:35if there are any doubts
17:36from anyone, fans
17:38of the way the football club is run
17:42then those doubts are only amplified
17:46when your CEO, the man in charge
17:48acts in the way he has in his public.
17:52I don't see what's to gain from it.
17:55Tell us.
17:55What do you think he gains from that?
17:58Well, I think that probably is
18:00connection building because
18:02maybe we're at the point now
18:03where that sort of singing and dance
18:04on the stage is probably
18:06bypass the club because it was 15,
18:0914 years of my actually
18:10where the fans are so disconnected.
18:11So maybe they needed that from Darren Hughes
18:14to feel close to the CEO of the football club.
18:16And maybe I take your point where
18:18OK, they've gone for that period now
18:20where they feel connected again.
18:21You also want to be ambitious
18:22and maybe Darren Hughes has to
18:24act in a professional way
18:26that doesn't involve
18:27singing and dancing on stage.
18:29There's a difference between showing up
18:31connecting with the fans
18:32and just being there,
18:33being that authority figure at the club.
18:35And that's great.
18:37Having time for fans and spending time
18:39talking to ourselves, fans out in Tokyo.
18:42It's like I say, I think like you say, sorry,
18:45it's the singing and the going a little bit.
18:48So the Tokyo, that was the other thing
18:49I was trying to think.
18:49There's something in between.
18:50So the Tokyo, like parroting
18:52like profanity laden songs about,
18:55you know, that to me does not,
18:57it doesn't, the optics of that are not
19:00wow, I look at that man
19:01and think you're ultra professional.
19:03And that's all I want from anybody
19:05in positions of power at Newcastle United.
19:07I think that emanates from Eddie Howe.
19:08You like him, loathe him,
19:10somewhere in between.
19:11He makes mistakes, he doesn't,
19:12he's the best things in sight, whatever.
19:14I think you always,
19:15whatever your feelings on Eddie Howe,
19:16you look at him and say,
19:17I think that bloke puts a thousand percent
19:21in every day, turns up, looks the part,
19:24professional, speaks in a certain manner.
19:27I don't ever at any point
19:29see Eddie Howe ever doing that sort of thing.
19:31And horses for courses, people are different.
19:33That's fine.
19:34But that's what I want from Newcastle United.
19:36That's where Eddie Howe for me
19:37ticks every single box,
19:39is that I can trust that you are Mr. Professional.
19:42And what we needed after Steve Bruce
19:44was Mr. Professional.
19:46What we needed after Ashley, Lambias, Charnley,
19:50what we needed was Mr. Professional
19:53and 10 of them who all do their jobs
19:55and they're all super professional.
19:57That's probably,
19:58that's what kind of you see the people from PIF.
20:00That's what they are.
20:01You look at them and they almost
20:03don't even need to speak to you,
20:04but it's like there's professionalism there straight away.
20:08That's why I don't like the Eels stuff.
20:10But maybe it's I'm doing too much.
20:11I don't want to feel like,
20:12I mean, this is like a hatchet job on someone
20:14like Darren Eels.
20:15Because like I say,
20:17I remember starting the event that we did,
20:21the Quayside.
20:23And we'd all had a drink.
20:24He had a good time for us.
20:26I stood talking for maybe 20 minutes, half an hour
20:28and he was brilliant.
20:29And so it's, this isn't a personal thing.
20:31It's just reacting to what I don't,
20:33I would rather see.
20:35I want you to see,
20:35I want to see the fruits of your labour doing the work.
20:38That might come.
20:39You've got to convince PIF to sign the checks.
20:42I want to see something tangible more
20:44than on the football field here in Newcastle United.
20:47I want to see progress on the training ground.
20:49I've asked him these questions on numerous occasions direct.
20:52Never had a direct answer, I'll be honest.
20:54But the training ground and the stadium, Brad Miller,
20:58that sounds like it's, however imminent is imminent.
21:01I don't know, but that's what he said.
21:04That's what he said, imminent.
21:07Anyway, I think I should shut up because I get complained.
21:09I don't know if I'm talking too much.
21:10We're back in these territories.
21:11Aye by me.
21:12Aye him, aye.
21:14Unless a good lad in the corner.
21:16But we said we'd talk about it
21:17because it's caused a conversation.
21:20Yeah, I mean, I think you hit the nail on the head
21:22probably earlier than anyone really
21:25in terms of the Darren Eels stuff.
21:27But I think ultimately what matters,
21:30and it was a reminder today,
21:32this club will ultimately be judged on what happens there.
21:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:35And OK, performances may be hit and miss.
21:38If Newcastle keep winning,
21:40bottom line is these complaints
21:43or frustrations become weaker and quieter.
21:46So all we can judge it on is what we've seen so far,
21:49which leaves a lot to be desired.
21:51But Newcastle's, I've got to tweet out,
21:54best start, four game start to a season in over a decade.
21:58And yeah, seven points from nine
22:00through to the third round of the Cowboy Cup.
22:04I think, yeah, it was a much needed win,
22:08even though they'd made a good start to the season
22:09and a sort of reminder of what really matters
22:12at the football club, which is results on the pitch.
22:14You guys revealed something really interesting to me today.
22:17What?
22:18There was a lot of talk about boxes.
22:21Oh yeah.
22:21Here in Trippie, as box isn't there anymore.
22:23I think that's what people are saying.
22:26It is gone, isn't it?
22:27Trippie's gone.
22:28Is it over here?
22:29No, it was there.
22:31It's gone, isn't it?
22:32Well, we contemplated doing a story on this last season
22:36because now it's not the case.
22:38But Mike Ashley, since selling the club,
22:41has continued to have a box at St. James's Park
22:45until this season, no longer has one.
22:47So get your letters, get your letters in the bin.
22:51Get your box in the bin.
22:52So yeah, whether he attended, I highly doubt it.
22:55But he did continue to have a box as recently as last season.
23:00And Mr. and Mrs. Ashley was the name of the box.
23:04Maybe it wasn't him.
23:06Maybe it was just another name.
23:07It was.
23:07It was.
23:08But we're reliably informed that it was him.
23:09Yes, and no longer there.
23:12So now we're heading to the international break.
23:14No games for a couple of weeks.
23:16Obviously, we're a few Newcastle players out and about around the world.
23:20And yeah, so we'll try and keep the videos coming.
23:24Yeah.
23:24If there's stuff to talk about, of course.
23:26Let us know.
23:27If you want to let us know what you want us to talk about.
23:30Is there any topics that you want us to delve into?
23:32If not, we'll see you on the other side.
23:36Wolves.
23:36Wolves.
23:36Wolves.
23:37We'll turn a Fabian chair, hopefully.
23:39Massive.
23:40Yeah, I think that's a big thing.
23:41I think that's huge for the way that the team plays.
23:44He's been Don.
23:45He's been Jordan.
23:46And I've waffled on like I normally do.
23:48So apologies for that.
23:49But we'll see you on the other side.
23:51Cheers.
