A unique medical initiative in the Austrian Alps optimises age-old traditional treatments with a modern approach
Transcript
00:00The last 100 years were characterized by a diminishing of old healing spas, of old resources.
00:15We tried to re-innovate those old style kind of remedies and to bring in some modern medical
00:23evidence in something that got lost in the last 50 years because of this very, very good
00:30pharmacology that medicine has available.
00:33But there are a lot of aspects that cannot be substituted by pharmacology and this is
00:40for example the exercise is very important as a preventive medical factor and doing exercise
00:46on a mountain is much more effective than doing it in a fitness studio.
00:52We have in some parts of Europe, in some parts of the Alpine region, a problem with persons
00:59that are leaving the countryside, living in bigger cities.
01:02This is for example the Piemonte region north of Italy, these are some parts of Austria
01:09and we have a problem with qualified women's jobs.
01:12We have a lot of jobs in hotelry and in gastronomy but qualified women's jobs are one of our
01:17goals that we try to reach in our strategic project.
01:22If you bring in medical doctors, if you create jobs for medical doctors and for paramedical
01:27jobs, then you have a chance to stimulate innovation in peripheral Alpine regions.
