00:04able to withdraw large amounts of cash.
00:10As this went viral, many were curious about how this so-called glitch worked, but there
00:14wasn't a clear explanation.
00:24In reality, this process isn't a glitch at all.
00:26It involves someone depositing a fake or invalid check into an ATM, the bank temporarily
00:31makes some of the funds available, and the person quickly withdraws the money before
00:35the check is fully cleared.
00:37When the bank later realizes the check is bad and it bounces, the account is left with
00:41a negative balance.
00:42This is what's known as check fraud.
