00:00What's going on everybody?
00:12We're coming to you from St. Augustine, the oldest establishment in the United States
00:17of America.
00:18Let's do it.
00:20That's right.
00:21You heard me correctly.
00:22It is the oldest continuously occupied settlement of European origin in the United States as
00:28of right now.
00:30The population is actually around 15,415.
00:36Also there is a St. Augustine beach that's nearby, so if you include the entire metro
00:40area of St. Augustine, it's about 70,000 people.
00:44So it's not that big, but it's very rich in history and you'll discover that as you walk
00:50around.
00:51If walking's not your thing, they do have a trolley that you can take, so you can pick
00:55up those old town trolley tickets.
00:58You can go online to get them or you can just pick them up from your hotel.
01:02And they sell them right there on the street if you wanted to do it.
01:04It's like a hop-on hop-off bus.
01:06Also they do have golf carts and mini go-cart kind of vehicles that you can rent, which
01:12could be cool.
01:13I actually wanted to do that, but they closed at 5 o'clock and I got there a little too
01:17late for that.
01:20What we're going to do in this travel guide is we're actually going to show you around
01:23the old colony area, as well as the old Spanish fort.
01:28So this is going to be an interesting travel guide.
01:30If you've never been to St. Augustine, you're going to feel like you have been after watching
01:34this.
01:35Also, guys, if you guys enjoy this kind of content, be sure to crush that like button
01:39and subscribe to this channel if you're new as we continue to take you around.
01:53Here we are at the Alcazar Hotel.
02:05This was actually one of the oldest multi-story structures in all of the country built in
02:10the late 1800s by Flagler.
02:13He was the main economic guy here in St. Augustine during that time period.
02:17It's open from 9 to 3.
02:20But check out the architecture.
02:21It's actually no longer a hotel now, it's the Leitner Museum.
02:42Here we are in front of the old Casa Monica, which was actually built by Henry Ford.
02:46There's a Model T right across the street, but this place right here, old historical
02:52hotel for you guys to stay at if you're looking for a place like that.
02:55Right next to the Leitner Museum.
03:47And, as we continue to cruise through this old Spanish settlement, we're actually going
03:56to head over to the old colony.
04:01Alright, here we are at the gate to the Colonial Quarter.
04:10Let's go take a look inside.
04:40The best way that I can describe this place...imagine Bourbon Street meeting Massachusetts Plymouth
05:08Rock at the same time.
05:11Minus the crazy partying that goes on in Bourbon Street.
05:14But it does have that kind of feel to it.
05:17But again, this is St. Augustine.
05:31So here we are at Ice Macarons, I think that's how you say it.
05:35Look at all the variety.
05:37We have a Madagascar Black Vanilla and a Salt Caramel.
05:47Alright, so if you've never had one of these, it's basically like a cookie with some ice
05:51cream in the middle.
05:53So in my opinion, very refreshing when it's hot and spicy out.
05:58Really delicious.
06:07Alright, so we're going to head over to the next location.
06:10We're going to have a look at the next location.

06:39We get about 2 cashew tuttle.
06:43I'll do one of each.
06:45Anything else for you guys.
06:47Anything else for you guys.
06:49Caramel apples.
06:51Marshmallow caramel.
06:53Rice Crispy Popsicle Caramel.
06:55And over here they've got Turtle crispy.
06:57And over here they've got Turtle crispy.
06:59Lots of variety.
07:01I like the macadamia the best
07:31I like the macadamia the best
08:01So
08:22Here we are at the Castillo here in St.
08:25Augustine it's one of the oldest Spanish fortresses in all of the Americas right here, we're gonna go inside right now
10:31And if you look right behind me here we have a statue of Juan Ponce de Leon, he first sighted
10:43land here in 1513.
11:43So as you can see right here by this sign, the establishment and the settlement was
11:49happening in 1559, that's when they finally settled here, obviously they discovered in
11:531513.
11:54La Florida, it means the flowery place.
12:07This area here known as Avital Street was originally called the Royal Hospital Street
12:12and then it was renamed in 1923 after Apples.
12:26In the 1700s the British actually took over the area of St. Augustine from the Spanish
12:31and they also set up some of their churches as you can see right here, the Trinity Parish
12:35Church.
12:50One of the things about St. Augustine is they do have several of these beautiful old historic
12:55houses and inns that you can stay at, like property like this villa here.
13:11So here we are walking along the Freedom Trail, this here is where slaves actually
13:41walked when they were pursuing their freedoms, so a really historical area along this beautiful
14:11And this residential area that we're at here is called Lincolnville, it was actually originally
14:24set up for emancipated slaves and then it became also an Indian colony and over time
14:31it's really just become a beautiful place with lots of nice homes and very lush vegetation.
14:53So as always we've got a oyster here with some vinaigrette, horseradish and lemon.
15:12So I don't know if you guys noticed or not but this house that we're at which is now
15:16restaurant used to be the great great granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson so that's pretty cool.
