00:00And in Mexico, President Andres Manuel López Obrador issued his sixth and last government
00:04report, in which he highlighted the progress of his administration amidst citizen support.
00:09From Mexico City, Daniel Rosas with the details.
00:12Call in Mexico City to listen to the message from President Andres Manuel López Obrador
00:17and to say goodbye to him.
00:20We are very grateful and we are supporting him.
00:23It was very nice to be here alongside him.
00:29And today we are very calm and with a very good feeling in our hearts.
00:37Everything he has just said leaves us speechless.
00:39The Mayan train, the refineries, all the new roads that are being built, the trains that
00:44he has already committed to Claudia.
00:47What more can we ask of him?
00:52He apparently says goodbye, but he will never be able to say goodbye.
00:56Mexico will be marked with his name and we will continue to think of him, of our president.
01:03Accompanied by his wife, his cabinet, governors, and the next president, López Obrador left
01:08the National Palace to thank the people for the achievements of his administration.
01:15I leave with a clear conscience and very happy.
01:20In the first place, nothing makes me happier than to have achieved, with the support of
01:25many of you, of millions of Mexicans, to reduce poverty and inequality in the country.
01:33I also leave with peace of mind because the person to whom I will hand over the presidential
01:38sash, by mandate of the people, is an exceptional woman.
01:46President López Obrador highlighted that in five years, 9.5 million Mexicans were lifted
01:51out of poverty, the strengthening of the peso, controlled inflation, higher tax collection,
01:57increased employment and salaries, he reiterated that this would not have been achieved without
02:01the fight against corruption.
02:06We have denounced with facts the acts of corruption in the judiciary.
02:15Because of this, we have sent to Congress an initiative for the people to elect magistrates,
02:23judges, and ministers, so that they will impart justice for the benefit of all and not be
02:44at the exclusive service of organized crime.
02:53The Mexican president also noted the change in the security model, which now attacks the
02:57causes and not only arrests criminals.
03:00In response to the U.S. government's criticism of the proposal for the popular election of
03:04judges, the Mexican president reminded his friend and neighbor that democracy in his
03:09nation began with the election of judges.
03:16It has been demonstrated that it is possible to govern for the benefit of all Mexicans
03:24without accepting recipes, models, or agendas imposed by international financial organizations
03:31or hegemonic powers of any political or ideological nature.
03:40Before his supporters gathered in a packed Zócalo, he reminded that 30 million of Mexico's
03:4535 million households now receive at least one social program.
03:49And unlike what happened with other presidents, Andrés Manuel López Obrador left the Chamber
03:54of Deputies to give his message on the occasion of this government report, in the country's
03:58main square, the capital Zócalo, behind me, where on three occasions he roused the people
04:04to shout, President, to Claudia Sheinbaum, in this gesture of confidence that there will
04:09be continuity in his project.
