00:00Is it still going to rain? Let's update on the weather.
00:03Let's talk to Pag-asa, Assistant Weather Services Chief, Chris Perez.
00:07Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:10Good morning, Raffy, and to all of our viewers.
00:13Will the rainfall of Baguio-Enteng continue?
00:16And what direction is it heading before it leaves the country?
00:20Raffy, right now, it's at the sea here in the Kandurang part of the Ilocos region.
00:25And we're hoping that tomorrow morning, it will continue to leave the northwestern boundary of our air responsibility.
00:32But because it's wide, we're still hoping that it's still possible for it to rain today in the entire Ilocos region.
00:39The 100 to 200 millimeters of rain, heavy to intense rain,
00:44our countrymen are still hoping for it in the Ilocos region.
00:48Like what you mentioned earlier, we have places that have 2-in-1 warning signals.
00:52We still have a reminder that our countrymen should be careful in those places where it's possible for it to rain,
00:58especially those who live in low-lying areas.
01:00And also be careful in the possible landslides to our countrymen who live near the foot of the world.
01:06Meanwhile, it's possible for it to rain in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region today
01:12when it rains, it will range from moderate to heavy, 50 to 100 millimeters of rain, Raffy.
01:19Is Enteng still enhancing the weather system in the area, especially when it's possible for the storm to rise?
01:28As of now, Raffy, what we can see is that Enteng's countrymen are still hoping for it to rain,
01:34not only here in Metro Manila, but also in some parts of the Central and Southern Luzon area,
01:39particularly the provinces in the Kandurang part of the area.
01:42Aside from our Tropical Cyclone Bulletin, Raffy, we are also issuing a weather advisory
01:48to give our countrymen a warning in places that are affected by the storm in these days.
01:53How do you expect them to stay or leave under a storm warning signal in a place?
02:01Well, Raffy, what's happening is that we are projecting or we are being forced to spread a strong wind that will bring a storm.
02:08For example, in the next 24 hours, the radius of wind that will possibly bring a warning signal number 1 that will reach Metro Manila,
02:1724 to 36 hours, we will hoist or raise the warning signal number 1 in Metro Manila.
02:22But if in the next 12 to 24 hours, the radius here in Metro Manila will slowly move away,
02:28then by that time, we will possibly remove the warning signal number 1 here in Metro Manila.
02:34So the raising of the warning signal is based on the force of the wind that can reach a place within a forecast period.
02:44Our lead time for signal number 1 is 36 hours.
02:49Then as the storm approaches, our lead time becomes shorter.
02:52And likewise, as the storm moves away, we also have a lead time to remove the raised warning signal in a place.
02:59And it's important to follow that.
03:01Many parts of Rizal were flooded that were not flooded before, that's why the flooding is not that severe.
03:07How much rain was deposited in the parts of Antipolo, Tanay, and the nearby towns?
03:13Well, here in Tanay, our weather station was hit by 160 mm of rain.
03:19It ranges from moderate to almost heavy rain in Tanay Station.
03:23While in some parts that you mentioned, for example, in Rizal,
03:28our automatic rain gauge recorded 67 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
03:33In Antipolo, 55 mm of rain.
03:36It ranges from moderate to slightly moderate.
03:38Our countrymen should be aware that the effect on their area will also affect not only the amount of rain,
03:46but also the changes that are happening in their surroundings if there's a development.
03:52For example, the former large landfills that were filled with rainwater became highly urbanized areas.
03:59Then likely, there's a higher chance of flooding in their area depending on the amount of rain.
04:06So from time to time, we can also consider that, for example, a few decades ago, the amount of rain was this much, but it didn't flood immediately.
04:13Then after a decade or two, there were changes, urbanization,
04:18and then the same amount of rain, and then there were incidents of flooding.
04:22So weather-wise and the changes in our surroundings,
04:26those are just a few of the factors as to why there are also changes in the effect of weather
04:31here in our surroundings where we are experiencing floods, for example.
04:35I hope that the roads are considered for urban development.
04:38Thank you very much for your time.
04:40We will continue with the news this afternoon.
04:42Thank you also. Have a nice day.
05:12you
