00:00Former DAP MP Ong Kian Ming has dismissed criticisms after 60 Malaysia Airlines maintenance
00:07workers joined SIA Engineering Company, a Singapore Airlines subsidiary.
00:13He acknowledged that Malaysia Airlines' parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group, had dropped
00:19the ball when it came to taking good care of its servicing and maintenance staff.
00:24However, he said blaming the Prime Minister and Kasana Nasional Berhad for allowing a
00:29reputable foreign MRO player like SIAEC to operate locally is misplaced.
00:36Ong said the entry of such companies into the Subang Airport aerospace ecosystem will
00:41benefit Malaysian workers with higher wages and better training opportunities.
00:46He said restricting foreign companies from operating locally would hinder efforts to
00:51develop Subang into a regional aerospace hub.
00:54Ong added that SIAEC's expansion in Subang is an important part of the rejuvenation of
01:00the airport, which is one of the main objectives of the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan 2020-2030.
