00:00If you're building a van and contemplating whether or not you should install a shower,
00:03I've compiled some information that might help with your decision. For context,
00:06we lived in this van for four years with no shower and now this van for a year and a half
00:09with a shower. We got by just fine without one, but now that we have one, I can confidently say
00:14that our quality of life has improved. Convenience seems to be the name of the game when it comes to
00:18actually getting good use out of your van shower. The less convenient it is to use,
00:21the more likely you might be to seek showers somewhere else, making your indoor shower a
00:24potential waste of space. Based on information I gathered from dozens of full-time van lifers,
00:29here are some things that make an indoor shower less convenient. Convertible showers and showers
00:33used as extra storage. Not a big enough water tank. 30 gallons and up seems to be the sweet
00:37spot. A shower that is too small and hard to move around in. No hot water or not enough hot water.
00:42You're also going to want to consider your camping style. If you like to park up in one
00:45spot for weeks at a time, you might be less likely to use your shower in an effort to conserve water.
00:50We tend to bounce around every couple of days, which gives us an opportunity to fill our tanks
00:53more often. Despite my initial fears, we have absolutely no regrets about our shower. There's
00:57nothing better than arriving to our van after a long hike or backpacking trip and being able to
01:01get clean right away. And it's just nice to be able to do this in the privacy of our own home.
01:05It's kind of hard to know exactly what's going to work best for you until you're in your van
