00:00You see, for example, mentally you might be afraid that you might lose money or marks.
00:10As a student you are afraid you might lose marks.
00:14As a grown up one, you might think of losing money or let's say prestige, prestige in
00:20society and that's what makes you insecure.
00:23Ultimately that is related to physical survival, mind you.
00:28Anything that you are afraid of ultimately boils down to physical insecurity.
00:34That's all.
00:35We began the discussion by trying to understand that we are two.
00:42One is the body, the other is the consciousness.
00:46Fear belongs to the domain of the body.
00:50Leave it to the domain of the body.
00:53Just keep it aside.
00:54Ignore it.
00:55Don't fight it.
00:57You are not supposed to fight fear because even to fight fear you will have to enter
01:00the domain of the body.
01:02The moment you enter the domain of the body, you become the body.
01:08And the knowers have told us saying Aham Dehasmi is the fundamental problem.
01:13I am the body.
01:14The moment you say that, even in order to fight fear, you have succumbed.
01:19Ostensibly, apparently, you are fighting fear.
01:23But for the sake of fighting fear, you have entered the domain of the body.
01:29And in this way, you have been indirectly defeated.
01:33So what do you have to do?
01:34When fear arises, let it be.
01:37Fear is there.
01:38Ignore it.
01:39What do you rather focus your attention on?
01:45Ignore fear and attend to, come on, exactly.
01:53The task that your consciousness is suggesting to you.
01:57So fear is there.
01:59But there is something far bigger and more important than fear.
02:04What is that?
02:05Consciousness.
02:06And consciousness is telling you what else is more important.
02:08You attend to that.
02:10You gave, for example, the thing regarding the animal.
02:18The wild beast is coming at you and you said you will run away.
02:24Not always, not always.
02:27You have a baby sister, like six months, one year old, or a niece or a nephew, small.
02:40And the wild beast is coming.
02:43You will run away.
02:45How many of you?
02:47How many of you will run away?
02:52You will first protect her.
02:54Even if you will run away, you will first pick her up and then run away.
02:57Am I right?
03:00And if somehow you cannot pick her up and run away, you will fight the beast.
03:05You will not run away.
03:07So fear will be there, obviously, but something more important than fear is there.
03:12What is that?
03:13Call it responsibility.
03:14Call it love.
03:16Call it whatever.
03:20Fear you have to remember is biological.
03:24Fear you have to remember is to the body.
03:28Fear is not to you.
03:31Fear is a letter addressed to the body.
03:36Do you open others' letters and read?
03:38Do you do that?
03:41So the letter has been delivered.
03:43The letter is coming from Mr. Fear and it is addressed to the body.
03:53So what do you do with the letter?
03:55You keep it aside.
03:57Let the body read it.
03:58I won't read it.
04:00It's not mine.
04:02Let fear be there.
04:04You do what you must.
04:07Let jealousy be there.
04:08You do what you must.
04:10Let fatigue and tiredness be there.
04:12You do what you must.
04:14Let hunger be there.
04:15You do what you must.
04:18Let thirst be there.
04:19You do what you must.
04:21That's what makes you a human being.
04:23Or will you succumb to hunger and thirst and fear and greed and insecurity?
04:28Will you?
04:30You understand what I'm saying?
04:31You don't need willpower or motivation.
04:34You need the wisdom to ignore these things.
04:38And mind you, all your life, there would be a little bit of these things that will always
04:45remain because they are there in the DNA.
04:49They are there in the evolutionary past.
04:52Jealousy will never 100% absolutely go away.
04:56Some jealousy will remain.
04:57What do you do with it?
04:58What do you do with it?
05:01Ignore and do the right thing.
05:05Hunger.
05:07It will remain till your last breath.
05:10Should hunger prevent you from doing the right thing?
05:14Or anger?
05:17Or lust?
05:19Or any other thing?
05:20They're there.
05:21Let them be there.
05:22And acknowledge.
05:23Oh, obviously.
05:24Obviously, I'm very angry right now, but I still do what is right.
05:29I will not allow anger to dominate me.
05:32Anger is there.
05:33I let it be there.
05:35It is to the body.
05:38It is not to me and I am consciousness.
05:43Let it be there.
05:44Fear is there.
05:45What do you think?
05:46When I sit in front of you, I don't face any of the bodily impulses.
05:52I do.
05:53As I sit here, some part of my body might be aching a bit.
06:01The glasses here are clouded a bit.
06:05I might not be entirely comfortable with the chair.
06:11You sit here for two hours and you start feeling a bit restless, don't you?
06:15Think of the one who is sitting here for two hours.
06:19And endlessly speaking, and even as I said this, this fell down.
06:23You see, strange things happen.
06:27So all these things are happening here.
06:29Should I now allow this to affect my attention?
06:34No.
06:35This is something physical that just happened.
06:39What is it?
06:40Something physical, meaning bodily.
06:43Meaning bodily.
06:44I cannot give it too much importance.
06:46I have to continue.
06:48I have to continue.
06:51Think of a marathon runner.
06:53What is his body telling him?
06:55Stop.
06:56Please stop.
06:57I'm tired.
06:59I'm tired.
07:01Think of a Grand Slam player, fifth set, fifth hour.
07:06And the player is Roger Federer, 38, 40, 41 years of age.
07:13What is the body saying?
07:15Every single joint is complaining and praying, please stop.
07:21What is he saying?
07:22One more Grand Slam.
07:23Who is saying one more Grand Slam?
07:28Consciousness must rule.
07:31The body must listen to the consciousness.
07:35The body is there to obey the commands of consciousness.
07:40Are you getting it?
07:44Yes.
07:46Who's getting it?
07:47Consciousness.
07:48Good.
07:49Sir, seeing how you have changed field multiple times and still found success, how do we know
07:58what is the right decision at the given time and with the limited amount of information
08:03we have?
08:04You will never know perfectly.
08:06You just have to keep moving and always be polite and modest enough to change when you
08:14see that you need to change.
08:17You must never be rigid and you must never, never commit yourself permanently to anything.
08:25Move endlessly and keep correcting yourself endlessly.
08:29Never get stuck to any one thing.
08:32Because it is impossible as normal mortal human beings, limited ones, to know what is
08:39absolutely perfect for you.
08:42At this stage, at this age, I still do not know what lies in the future and what is perfection.
08:51But what I know is that I will be honest enough to duly change when I realize that something
09:00better, something more important, something more deserving is there to be surrendered
09:09to, to be worshipped.
09:11I'll rather go to that.
09:13That's what life is for.
09:15Continuously change, continuously develop, continuously learn and be better.
09:21Learning is the purpose of life and that learning in the ultimate sense is called liberation.
