Striking workers at Marathon Petroleum Detroit refinery demand raise

Higher wages and improved job security are just some demands from 273 striking workers at the Marathon Petroleum refinery in Detroit.

00:00Gate at the Marathon plant. We're at 4th Street and Schaefer and the Teamsters Local 285 picketing,

00:10273 members work at the Marathon refinery plant in Detroit. Say they want job security and better

00:17pay. They've been negotiating for 9-10 months and contracts have stalled. They're out on strike as

00:23of this morning. Union Rep says they may extend this strike to other plants if they can't get a

00:28deal. The company says they have temporary workers in there trained and working and safe operation.

00:36Teamsters obviously says they're not so sure about the training. Eventually these tankers

00:41do get in as the workers continue to picket.
