00:00The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development promised to help those who were damaged by the typhoon Enteng and Habagat.
00:09Here's Ryan Leziguez.
00:13The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development also promised to help those who were damaged by the typhoon Enteng and Habagat.
00:24Undersecretary Randy Escolango said,
00:26those who were damaged by the typhoon Enteng and Habagat could receive financial assistance under the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program.
00:33Aside from higher financial assistance,
00:35they will not only receive total damage but also partial damage.
00:42From the previous P15,000,
00:44the house will receive P30,000,
00:48while P10,000 will receive partial damage.
00:51Based on the latest information released by NDREAMC,
00:56there are 603 partially damaged houses and 48 totally damaged houses.
01:03But as of now, according to our meeting yesterday,
01:07which was led by our President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,
01:12the assessment and validation in various places is still ongoing.
01:17So it is likely that it will increase.
01:19They say this is an opportunity for more victims of calamity to recover quickly and start a new life.
01:26But because these typhoons are coming,
01:29not only those who are affected but also those who do not choose who will be affected,
01:34not only should they help totally but also partially,
01:38so we have also covered this.
01:40And we have also applied this to ESSA or the Emergency Shelter Assistance of DSWD,
01:45which is not only totally but also partially.
01:48On top of the situation, the DSWD is aware of the effects of the typhoon,
01:53especially the increase in the number of affected individuals.
01:57According to the latest data of the DSWD,
02:00the number of people affected by the Enteng typhoon reached 2.1 million,
02:05which is equivalent to more than 500,000 families from more than 2,000 affected barangays,
02:11from NCR, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas.
02:21More than 41,000 individuals remain in evacuation centers.
02:26According to the DSWD spokesperson, Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao,
02:30they have distributed more than 200,000 family food packs to various LGUs.
02:37But in total, they will provide more than 102 billion humanitarian assistance.
02:43The DSWD also confirmed that they have enough funds,
02:47even though the need for food packs is increasing,
02:50especially that another bad time is coming.
02:54If we need family food packs to be distributed in areas that will be affected by the incoming weather disturbances,
03:04the DSWD is ready to augment the resources of the local government units.
03:08Aside from the national stockpile of the department,
03:11as I mentioned earlier, we have existing framework agreements with private retailers and distributors.
03:16So anytime there is a massive disaster, we could immediately draw down from these framework agreements.
03:21At present, the DSWD has more than 134 million pesos of standby funds.
03:28Aside from this, there are more than 1,000 family food packs on standby.
03:32The DSWD also requested replenishment for their quick response fund, which is worth 875 million pesos.
03:41If in case there is a need for additional assistance,
03:44the DSWD has other programs such as cash for work or emergency cash transfer,
03:50where we can provide financial assistance for the affected families.
03:57The DSWD also reminded the local governments not to pass into politics the distribution of assistance,
04:04especially family food packs.
04:07We also would like to assure the public, it is very important for us to assure our countrymen
04:13that the department does not stop.
04:16We are always ready, we are always doing the necessary programs and projects to help our countrymen.
04:24This is the proof that the DSWD will continue to distribute quick and effective assistance.
