00:00That was an evil one.
00:01Oh, yeah, I'm sorry.
00:02Harper's Bazaar.
00:03Hey, Harper's Bazaar.
00:05I'm Winona Ryder.
00:06And I'm Jenna Ortega, and we are going
00:08to be answering some trivia questions that are all about us.
00:13I think Winona's an encyclopedia of information.
00:17I know, but I actually peeked.
00:19There's like, there's one that I don't know.
00:22I did the same.
00:23I don't, I have no idea.
00:24I think it's going to be a struggle.
00:26Which role did Jenna learn to play the cello for?
00:30Hmm.
00:31Hmm.
00:32How could that possibly?
00:34Ah.
00:36I'd say perhaps.
00:40We're shooting second season right now,
00:41so I think it was maybe two weeks ago,
00:44I pulled my hair out, a good portion of my hair
00:46out for a cello piece.
00:48We shot that, so one and done.
00:50And then we're moving on to the next one,
00:51so I am currently playing.
00:52Never said I was good.
00:54What is Winona's astrological sign?
00:57What is your astrological sign?
00:58Are you like an Aries?
01:02This is what's interesting.
01:04You're actually equally your moon and your rising.
01:09I learned that from this incredible astrologist
01:13who's very academic.
01:14She actually set out to prove it wrong.
01:17So technically, this isn't fair.
01:19Yeah, so I'm, but.
01:20You're two, and this is only referencing one.
01:23My star sign is Scorpio.
01:26Right.
01:27And then I actually am trying to remember my other two.
01:29We had like an almanac, and it was like,
01:33the three words were secretive, intense, and passionate.
01:36I think you are a volt.
01:40I think you are passionate about things
01:41that you really care about.
01:42Yes.
01:43And that could also be seen as intense,
01:45but that does sound fairly accurate.
01:47Which Disney princess did Jenna voice for Elena of Avalar?
01:51That's an impossible question.
01:53I'll answer that for you.
01:54What movie was it?
01:56It was a television show, but you were a grown woman,
02:01and I was a child.
02:03When that happened, that was an evil one.
02:05Yeah, I'm sorry.
02:06That's bizarre.
02:07So Elena of Avalar is Disney's first Latino princess.
02:10So it was a big deal in like the parks and things like that,
02:13but you were not watching Disney Channel.
02:15But it was animated.
02:17It was animated.
02:18And I played Elena's little sister, Isabel.
02:22That's what that was.
02:23I once did an episode of The Simpsons,
02:26and I was so excited.
02:28I thought everyone was going to be there, and nobody was there.
02:31Sometimes it is, but sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.
02:35Yeah.
02:36It's quite isolating at times.
02:38I mean, I was so excited to be on it.
02:39I think if you reached out, you probably could meet them.
02:44Which Cher music video did Winona
02:45star in alongside Christina Ricci?
02:47Which is so hard because I know they did Mermaids Together.
02:50Incredible film.
02:52Cult classic.
02:54Which music video was it for Cher?
02:55It was for the movie.
02:57She did the Shoop Shoop song, a remake of that.
03:01Oh, is it when you guys are all dressed up
03:03in the matching outfits like you're the Supremes
03:06or romance or something?
03:07Oh, I have seen that.
03:08I just didn't realize.
03:10You know what I just found out as well?
03:12I didn't realize that you were in a Killers music
03:14video that Tim directed.
03:16That was a newsflash to me, so I didn't know that.
03:18He's shooting a candle on the wick.
03:20Well, yeah, he told me he made a wax figure of you for that.
03:24So weird.
03:25There was like a place in Blackpool called like.
03:29The knockoff Madame Tussauds.
03:30They had it like a, it looked nothing like a wax figure.
03:34And that's how, like Tim saw it and he got this whole idea,
03:38so I kind of come to life.
03:40Yeah.
03:41Yeah, that's crazy.
03:41Tim told me he saw that and just thought, I have to get that.
03:44Yeah.
03:45What fast food chain did Jenna do three commercials
03:49for in one year?
03:51If I had to guess, I don't know what it was.
03:54Honestly, just go for the most obvious one.
03:56Like what?
03:57Yes.
03:58OK.
03:59Yeah, like three unrelated casting directors.
04:02Wow.
04:02I just was a kid and I was only allowed to audition
04:04for commercials my first year of acting.
04:06They wouldn't let me do TV or movies.
04:08I had to prove myself because I was no name,
04:11not associated with anybody, just a random girl,
04:13small town, whatever.
04:15I would sit in these casting, I mean, you know,
04:17the cattle calls, this large group of kids.
04:19OK, you go, you go, you go.
04:21And then I was always the last one standing.
04:22And I guess three different casting directors
04:24had like seen my tape.
04:26So in the one year that I was only doing commercials,
04:28I did three McDonald's commercials.
04:30So I was just, I was accidentally the McDonald's girl.
04:33Wow.
04:34That nobody knew or realized.
04:34I just was, I think people probably thought
04:36I had some deal.
04:38Three unrelated.
04:39But that is a thing that people do.
04:40Yeah.
04:42Very weird.
04:43What role did Winona's agent beg her not to take?
04:47That's so hard because I feel like so many
04:48of Winona's roles are incredible
04:51and with incredible people behind them as well.
04:54It was early on and it was a very subversive.
05:01It wasn't Heather's.
05:02Yes.
05:03It was.
05:04It was.
05:05I remember that audition process being crazy for you.
05:08Yeah, I had to go
05:10because I wasn't considered pretty enough.
05:13So I went across the street to the Beverly Center
05:17and to the Macy's counter.
05:19They had them do a makeover on me.
05:21And I went to her and I was like, please.
05:24But my agent at the time literally got down
05:28like on her knee and she's like,
05:30please, you're going to destroy.
05:32Maybe she's a Scorpio cause that's really intense.
05:35Yeah.
05:36But I actually did lose a job right when it was coming out.
05:40I had been cast in a movie
05:42and the director took great offense to it.
05:44I think you were better off.
05:45Yeah.
05:46I think you did.
05:47I think I made the right call.
05:49You've done okay.
05:50What was Jenna's first film role?
05:53I mean, I know you were on a show.
05:57You're talking about CSI New York.
06:00Yeah, what, what?
06:02Oh, wow.
06:04Yeah, it was an Iron Man three.
06:06It was reshoots.
06:07I played a girl who was missing a leg.
06:12I was sitting on my leg the entire day in the wheelchair.
06:14And then when I wrapped, I went to stand up
06:17and I almost fell on my face because my leg was asleep.
06:20Oh my God.
06:20But my mom says that she laughs
06:22because she remembers the memory of me hobbling to the car
06:25after work, just being so excited
06:26that I had worked in a movie.
06:28Thanks so much for having us Harper's Bazaar.
06:31Yes, and be sure to watch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
06:33in theaters.
06:34It's a good time for everyone.
06:37Yeah.
