K-pop might be the glittery diamond, but K-indie is the hidden gem. ✨ While K-pop dazzles with its polished performances and catchy tunes, K-indie offers a more raw, authentic sound. K-indie artists Rad Museum, Tabber, and Miso pursued a career in music even though their parents really didn’t want them to. Now, the three artists are touring globally, including visiting Australia where they performed to sold out shows. With the help of indie promoter Kohai, the three now tour together internationally under you.will.knovv: a Seoul-based indie label founded by fellow artist DEAN back in 2017. Here’s what the trio said about their first performances, and how crowds differ across cultures.

00:00Hi, I'm Rod Museum. Nice to meet you.
00:12My name is Tyber. I'm from South Korea and I make music.
00:15My name is Miso. I'm based in Seoul.
00:31My family didn't really support me making music.
00:36I kept convincing them and this is what happened.
01:00My parents, they did say no.
01:16They didn't like the fact that I was doing music, what I wanted to do music.
01:20But as I gradually got following, more recognition,
01:25I feel that's when they started saying, maybe she's good at that.
01:30She should do that and continue on.
01:32I didn't expect it, but I thought I'd do it.
01:46But I'm glad it happened in such a short time.
02:03I think there's a difference between how people consume music in Korea
02:07and how people consume music overseas.
02:12I don't know if it's because K-pop is more famous overseas
02:17or because our music is more well-known,
02:21but I feel more energetic and powerful when I perform overseas.
02:32I think there's a cultural difference.
02:35Because elsewhere in the world, people are more free
02:40and I feel that they like to express themselves a lot more.
02:46But in Korea, it's a bit more reserved, I feel.
02:50But at the same time, I can still feel that the passion for support is the same.
02:56It used to be different, I think.
02:58But nowadays, the gap is really getting thinner.
03:02It's really evolving globally.
03:04That's why we're here right now.
